Ambrose's POV
I frowned as I recalled. Back then, I was swamped with work every day.
Phoebe would always come to me for money every few days.
She used all kinds of excuses, such as her father getting sick, her mother losing her job to take care of her father, or something happening to her younger brother.
She claimed that her father was in the intensive care unit, which alone would cost a huge amount of money in just one day, not to mention all the various expenses.
I had doubts at that time. After all, her father was also a werewolf.
But I figured maybe an Omega without a pack didn't have a healthy body like those regular werewolves.
So, I gave her millions of dollars. But not long after, she started asking me for money again, still using various excuses.
I had always thought of her as a simple woman who was never materialistic, so I never dwelled on it.
After all, we were mates. My money was hers, too.
Back then, my money was tight. It was difficult to manage the funds when starting a company with 100 million dollars in the first place.
Every time I received the project funds, Phoebe would always take them away with various excuses.
I did have a hard time, but I never complained about anything.
I suggested visiting her father, but she said that she could take care of him alone since I was so busy.
During that time, to save expenses, I dismissed the driver and the assistant. I did everything myself every day and worked hard to make a living.
One day, I was so exhausted that I fell down after meeting with a client.
Before passing out, I seemed to see a woman, but when I was awake, I saw no one.
From that day on, the amount of my orders kept increasing, and some of my partners even waived my security deposit, allowing me to be six months behind on my material payment.
That was how I managed to get through that tough time. Turned out it was all thanks to Andrea.
Dad pulled out another stack of photos, showing me drinking and socializing with various people.
Meanwhile, Andrea treated my clients to dinners in restaurants, and that ingratiating smile on her normally proud face stung my eyes.
On the contrary, Phoebe and her family were on vacation abroad. The hearty laughs on their faces were such a stark contrast to Andrea's smile.
It wasn't Phoebe who accompanied me through hardships. It was Andrea!
"You were the Greenwood family's outcast. Do you really think that just because you moved elsewhere, others would do business with you and even treat you with respect? You're lucky they didn't make it hard for you. While you were out there working your ass off, Andrea was seeking opportunities for you behind your back, ensuring your career goes smoothly. Dad's voice, though not loud, resounded in my ears like thunder, leaving me stupefied.
Phoebe hurriedly explained, "Ambrose, that's not true. Alpha Elliott hates me so much. These photos are all fake. I didn't do any of these things."
I pointed at the dates on the photos and asked, "These are fake, too?"
"Yes. With advanced image processing technology nowadays, it's easy peasy to add a date. Don't you believe me? You know me. Besides, you also know what kind of person Andrea is. If she had done so many things for you, how could she not tell you?
Phoebe tried her best to defend herself, but she had no proof, so I found it hard to believe her immediately.
Dad snorted, "Fake? I have countless photos like these." Truman then chimed in, saying to me, "Alpha Elliott is telling the truth. I can testify. Back then, he was worried about you and asked me to secretly keep an eye on you. So, I know exactly what Mrs. Andrea Greenwood and Mrs. Phoebe Greenwood did. If you don't believe me, I'll give you the negatives. Mrs. Phoebe Greenwood has been nothing but a leech over the years. If it weren't for Alpha Elliott and Mrs. Andrea Greenwood's assistance, Mrs. Phoebe Greenwood and her family would have spent all your money a long time ago."
I stood in situ in a daze. I only knew the truth till today.
