Alpha's Wife Hunt

Chapter 541

Ch. 541 / 840 May 06, 2026

Third person's POV

Derek was stupefied. Andrea's face turned pale, and even Alpha Elliott found it unbelievable.

"No way! Tabitha is so healthy. How could she have been poisoned by wolfsbane?"

Orson took Derek's hand away and continued to explain with a hint of sadness and anger in his eyes.

"Two years ago, when you and she rejected each other, she had a check-up at the Werewolf Hospital. At that time, the wolfsbane had already caused her body to deteriorate. Judging from the way she is now, I'm afraid her illness is already incurable."

The word "incurable" struck Derek's mind like lightning.

Only then could he start to think again.

Tabitha was exhausted from vomiting blood. Derek quickly picked her up and ran outside desperately.

"Tabitha, don't worry. I'll take you to the hospital now. You'll be fine."

At some point, it started to rain, and the raindrops fell on Tabitha's face.

She weakly looked up at his eyes, which were filled with a faint glimmer of tears. So, was it tears or rainwater on his face?

Well, it seemed like nothing mattered anymore.

She felt she was getting closer and closer to death as each second passed by, and though there were so many things she wanted to say, she couldn't utter a sound. She felt tightness in her chest.

Derek stumbled, and he almost tripped and fell. Clearly, he was in a state of panic and shock.

What Kamp had once said came back to him. "Alpha Derek, the effects of medicine like M-1 are not very noticeable for ordinary people, but the elderly, children, pregnant women, and werewolves poisoned by wolfsbane absolutely cannot be injected."

"What's gonna happen if those poisoned by wolfsbane inject M-1?"

"M-1 can make werewolves lose their memory and automatically block their immune system. In other words, a werewolf infected with wolfsbane won't have an immune system to eliminate the wolfsbane. It'll rapidly increase and spread within a short period of time, even spreading throughout the body, causing terrible pain to the werewolf."

Derek didn't expect Tabitha to have such a disease. He now got it. No wonder she suffered no side effects after waking up. She'd just suffer from abdominal pain occasionally.

He was the one pushing her into the endless abyss.

He regretted it so much. Panicking like a child, he apologized to Tabitha again and again.

"Tabitha, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to... I didn't know."

His warm tears fell on Tabitha's face. She had had so many doubts, yet when it really came to the end of her life, she found herself surprisingly calm.

Looking at the vast rain, she softly said, "Derek, I am so tired..."

Whatever it was, whether it was love, hate, or memories, it didn't matter anymore.

She felt as if her body had been drained of strength. Her soul was getting farther and farther away from her...

"Tabitha, I won't let you go."

Derek put Tabitha, covered in blood, in the passenger seat and said, "I will take you to the hospital right now."

Tabitha looked utterly weak. She reached out and gently stroked his face, saying, "If I'm dying soon, let me go."

"Don't say that. You'll be fine."

Her fingers slid slowly down his cheek like feathers.

She slowly closed her eyes.

She was so tired and wanted to take some proper rest.

Before losing consciousness, she felt that she heard Derek's heart-wrenching roar, but it didn't matter to her anymore.

She had no purpose to live on in the first place, and her only consolation was that she had a happy family and a loving husband.

As it turned out, everything was just a lie. Now that her beautiful dream had shattered, what reason did she have to continue living soullessly?
