Lucifer and Katia were swimming in the lake down from her little cabin. Splashing Lucifer, Katia laughingly says, “Lu, where were you before I found out I was mated to Nathan?”
“Why, my little goddess, I was falling from grace. I would not have been in the right frame of mind to be your mate.” Lucifer said, grabbing for her when she swam past him.
Settling Katia on his lap in the wading area near the edge of the lake, “Now close your eyes and concentrate on seeing who it is you want to bring to your island. Now visualize opening a gate for them and the person stepping through.”
Doing as he instructed, Katia concentrated on Selene, and before she knew it, a none-too-happy Selene was standing in front of them screeching, “You could have let me appear on land and not in the middle of the lake. Now I am soaked, and it is still cold at home.”
“Cold at home? You are not living in the god’s realm?” Katia wanted to know.
Wading towards them and eyeing Lucifer who is holding her sister in his lap, “No sister, I have been staying at Moon Touched. I have been helping with all the new pack members you have been sending and helping teach that mate of yours a lesson.”
Katia scooted to the side of Lucifer’s lap, and he pulled Selene down next to her and held them both. He didn’t know what it was about these two goddesses, but the peace he felt with them was addictive. Lucifer knew he would forever be a thorn in Zeus’ backside, but he no longer wanted the god or the mortals he loved so much dead. He wanted to make all their lives more interesting by ensuring the mortals had true free will. It would be fun to watch Zeus stomp around because he would have to live by his own rules.
Katia and Selene were quietly talking, which brought him out of his revelry. He heard Selene tell her sister, “I don’t know how much longer I can keep them all from here. The witch Evelynn let the cat out of the bag.”
“How did Evie do that” Katia wanted to know.
“ Witches have a hidden third eye and can see things with it that regular eyes cannot see. They have seen how and where Uranus travels here to you.” Selene clarified.
“She mentioned this in front of Alpha Nathan, and he went nuts, I suppose” Katia guessed.
Sighing, Selene reiterated, “Like I said, I do not know how much longer, I can keep them away. They all miss you Titi, and you owe me a mate. But first, I have missed you so much. I wanted to die when Cronos announced you were given the god’s death by Uranus.”
Throwing her arms around her sister and crying, Selene knocked the two off balance, and they splashed into the water. The two girls spent time dunking and playing with one another. Katia spoke through their laughter, “I am sorry Lili. I just wanted to end it all. I am tired of the broken promises and so many of us being treated with disdain".
“I know Titi, and I understood once I had a moment to think and listened to Mark’s gut feelings, as he calls them. He is very intuitive.” Selene acquiesced softly.
“Yes, he is, and if I know him, he is wondering why you mated him to a mystic creature,” Katia remarked.
Selene smiled, wondering who her sister had picked out for her and when she will meet him. She didn’t want to ask. She of all goddesses, knew it would happen when the time was right. Looking to Lucifer, Selene grinned, “Please tell me, you are the one helping Titi teach that no good mate of hers a lesson.”
Lucifer stood, “At your service, madam, and if I can ever do the same for you, I would be more than happy too.” Lucifer dove under the water and grabbed them both by the ankle. Pulling them under with him. They popped above the surface sputtering and laughing. Katia remarked, “I have loved the freedom of being who I want to be and not who everyone expects me to be.”
Lucifer smiled at her promising, “I will make sure you get to keep that freedom no matter what happens, little goddesses. Please remember I will always give you a place of safety. It may not be beautiful where I live, but it is my heaven.”
Both girls sang in unison, “Thank you Lu.”
“now, my ladies, we must move forward with the next move if we are to win the coming war.” Lucifer reminded themn
Selene turned to Katia, “Everyone is in place at Moon Touched. We are just waiting for whoever is pulling the angel’s strings to show their hand.”
“You have had Eric and Kane training the key warriors?” Katia questioned.
“Yes, and Father has been helping also. Mother has kept him calm and told him they will know when the time is right to rescue you.” Selene informed her. She added, “Gammy says they are ready when you are. Leo knows what to do as soon as Uranus is in his sight.”
Katia smiled seeing the little boy's face in her mind, “Was Cronos surprised to see his mate and child there?”
Selene acknowledged in the affirmative, “He is so gentle with them, and you can see how much he loves them. I could feel his fear of Rhea finding out about them.”
“One of the reasons I sent to my pack. We have enough powers and gods to protect them if she should find out and want to harm them. With that said, Lili, you need to be careful. Rhea will come after you if she ever finds out Cronos is mated to the mystic.” Katia stressed to her sister.
Lucifer interjected, “So much hatred in our world that it spills into a world not deserving it. How will we know when the one controlling the angels makes their move?”
“I have not puzzled that out yet. I feel it will be something unexpected.” Katia scowled.
Lucifer’s eyes glazed for a moment, then he told the girls, “Cronos says that everyone is losing their mind because Selene disappeared as she walked into the room. We need to come up with an explanation and return her quickly.”
Katia ran her fingers through her wet hair and mocked, “Gather the warriors, I Alpha Nathan, will find her and try to rape her to get her to tell me where she went. I know she is with my mate.” She rolled her eyes and continued, “Jerk, I know he has not learned anything. Would serve him right if I decided to mate with you Lu.”
Lucifer shivered with the thrill of her words but lamented, “I would take you in a heartbeat, but fear you would regret that decision someday when you find it in your heart to forgive him.”
Throwing herself into Lucifer’s arms and snuggling into his chest, “Maybe I would not regret it, Lu. We could always ask Lili to change her mind for me.”
Kissing the top of her head, “Lets see if you feel the same after all of this is over.”
Selene stepped forward, hugging Katia goodbye, and said, “If that is what you truly want, I would do anything to give you happiness. For now, what is the plan for my return?”
Katia gave an evil little grin as she laid out her plan for them to return to the pack together and mess with Alpha Nathan even more, “The two of you will return to Moon Touched together into the same room Selene was walking into when I pulled her out. Lucifer and you will play it off as you two have secretly been seeing one another, and he wanted some time alone with his lover.”
Blushing, Selene jumped up and down, clapping her hands, “Finally, I get to have some fun in this charade.”
Lucifer rolled his eyes at Selene and said, “You know that your mate is not going to buy that and be at my throat.”
“Have fun with him, Lucifer. He deserves whatever he gets. He has been acting like a real ass. He was so horrible to everyone that his sister kicked his ass. Kane said it was a first and had no idea how to handle Dalia, at she was so angry.” Selene told them, cackling with the joy of the memory.
Katia was proud of Dalia. “Okay, you to back you go and remember Lil,i you have not seen or spoken to me since my first contact.”
They were gone, and Aza praised her girly, “I am so proud of you and how you have grown while we have been here. Things were never easy, and we knew we needed a break to think and plan.”
“So, true my, wolfie. I feel how much stronger we are every day. I wonder if Grandfather realizes what he has inadvertently done for us.” Katia smiles.
Meanwhile, Selene and Lucifer appear in the middle of little Leo’s hospital room. Both are soaking wet and cuddling into one another like the lovers they are supposed to pretend to be. Everyone starts talking at once.
Lucifer holds his hand up, halting all of them, “I just wanted some time alone with my love, and you all are always around.”
Nathan walks over, stopping in front of Lucifer and stares at him. Lucifer stares back, daring him to start something. Finally, Nathan turns and walks out of the room.
