Mark was stunned to find his mate. Selene never said a word to him. He knew they weren’t mates, but they were very close these days. He thought she would have said something. He stared at those ice-blue eyes his mate possessed and wanted to just hold her close. She smelled heavenly. Like a peach orchard mixed with some pineapple trees. She sat on the bed staring back at him.
Mark sat on the side of the bed and introduced himself, “Hi mate. My name is Alpha Mark Robins of the Moon Touched pack.”
Tilting her head to the side, Talon giggled, “Look Amara, my mate talks. Does yours?”
Amara laughed at her sister’s words before answering, “I don’t know. He just sits there staring at me with those purple eyes like I have two heads.”
“Maybe you should introduce yourself and shake his hand,” Talon suggested.
Sticking her right hand out, Amara quietly said, “I am Amara Nisga’a of the White Wolf clan. I am from Alaska.”
Kane stood looking at her hand and move towards the head of the bed. Leaning down, he kissed her forehead and told her, “My Amara, there will be no hand shaking. The only way you greet me is with those sweet plump lips.” And then he kissed her. Once he let her loose, he sat on the edge of the bed.
Talon quickly inquired, “How was it? Was it everything we ever thought it would be?”
Amara responded with bright red cheeks, “Holy crap, Talon! You have no idea. I want more kisses.” She was staring at Kane as she answered her sister. To which he leaned forwards and kissed her more deeply.
Talon interrupted them when she spit out, “Hey dumb, dumb, you still don’t know his name.”
Amara shrieks as she pushes Kane back, “Oh right, no more mister until you tell me your name.” But then she pulls him forward and kisses him lightly on the lips.
Kane picked up her legs and pulled them over his lap as he moved further back on the bed. “My name is Kane. Son of Crius.”
Talon and Amara stared at one another and then Kane’s mate whooped, “Thank you moon goddess! I got myself a real-life god as a mate.” Kane smiled and rubbed her legs with little circles while she did a little celebration dance in the bed.
“I wish Alpha butthead was here, so we could rub it in his face that we have mates. That your mate is a god. Haha. He would fall down dead.” Talon was jabbering to her sister.
Kane noticed that Mark was awfully quiet, and he wondered what was wrong. Mind linking him, Kane asked, “you alright man? Not saying much. Just staring at that mate of yours.”
Mark came back sounding anxious, “I’m not a god or anything. What if she is disappointed?”
“Oh, Mark my mate, I could never be disappointed in you. I do not need a god for a mate.” Licking her lips like a hungry lion, she continued, “You are man enough for me.”
Mark chuckled at how she looked like she wanted to eat him for dinner. Then it dawned on him that she had just answered a mind link he was having with someone else. Her sister screeched for lack of a better word to describe the pitch of her voice. “Talon! No! You did it again. You are supposed to keep your block up, so you don’t hear other head conversations. Now they are going to want us to leave because they will be afraid of you.”
Mark quickly calmed them, letting them know, “You are going nowhere. I am sure it is just all the excitement of the day that made your sister forget to keep her block up. She won’t forget again, will you sweetheart?”
His mate smiled sweetly at him, saying, “Oh, but I did it on purpose. I wanted to know why you were just sitting there like a lump. I did not get any kisses.”
Mark responded instantly to that remark. He scooped Talon up and kissed her on the lips with everything he was feeling. His anxiousness, happiness, wonder, and love for his mate. She responded by melting against him and sighing. He finally ended the kiss when she started squirming and trying to get closer to him.
Sitting her back on the bed, he stroked her hair and whispered in her ear, “In time, beauty. Let’s get you completely healed first.”
To which his mate exclaimed, “Did you hear that, Amar? I am gonna get laid.” Mark gave an exaggerated sigh and told Kane, “I think our mates are going to drive us crazy.”
Kane gave his first real laugh since Katia had gone to Uranus, “They will fit right in. We just got to bring the leader home.”
The girls quieted down and listened to the two men as they spoke of their leader as they put it. What had Katia's mate done that she would go to the grandfather. Almost everyone in the mystic world knew of Uranus and what he had done to his granddaughters for centuries and longer.
Mark was fidgeting with his fingers and looking pained, “Do you think we will ever find her? I miss her and her antics. I miss our little ghost.”
Kane smiled at the memory of his cousin playing tag and dragging all of them into it. It was one of the most fun and relaxed days Kane had in a long time. He finally said, “I miss her too. I think sometimes the little Alpha Luna was smarter than she let us know.”
Talon declared, “She’s not dead. If she was, she would not have been able to make us dream about her.”
Kane snapped then, “We know she is not dead. However, we still miss her.”
Amara grabbed his hand, rubbing circles on his thumb, “My sister did not mean to anger you mate. She was trying to reassure you that your cousin is still alive because she visited us.”
Hanging his head, Kane mind linked Mark, “sorry for snapping at your mate. I didn’t mean anything. I am so worried about what the future may bring us and what could happen to Katia.” Looking at Talon he said, “My apologies, sister-in-law. I did not mean to snap at you, and thank you for trying to make me feel better.”
“No worries, mate, to my sister and cousin to our goddesses. I am stronger than you think. Words can do me no harm,” Talon assured him.
However, his mate's next sentence startled him some. She piped up with “Unless the words are used to do mean magic.”
Talon corrected her, “You mean black magic. Hopefully, we will not have to deal with any of that here.”
“You know witches?” Both men wanted to know.
The girls looked at the men and then each other as they answered, “Know them, we lived with them.”
Mark couldn’t believe it. He had never met a witch. He knew, as with anything else, there were good witches and bad witches, but maybe a witch could help them.
Kane knew what he was thinking and tried to end his train of thought immediately, “No, Mark, we have enough to handle here now. We do not need to add witches to the mix. They are mostly trustworthy, but they can be unpredictable.”
“Geez Kane, it was just a thought,” Mark blustered.
Amara said, “So witches are not welcome here? Even if they need sanctuary?”
Kane narrowed his eyes at his mate and said, “Why would you ask that?”
Amara shrugged and replied, “no reason.”
