71 Katia's Secret pov

Ch. 71 / 142 May 02, 2026

Katia sat on the tree branch up high in the tree with Aza next to her. They were sharing a banana after reading about primates in the wild. Aza sat next to her with her tail hanging over the limb swishing back and forth. After swallowing the piece of mush that the girly claimed was a banana, she made Katia aware of her opinion, “I think I will stay a wolf. If primates eat mush like that, I don’t know how they survive.”

Laughing, Katia explained, “They eat other things, wolfie. They eat leaves, other fruits, vegetables, and bugs.”

Aza chuffed and repeated, “Yep, I will remain a wolf. Bring me some good ole meat of any kind.” As she finished that sentence her head snapped to look at their cabin. Aza's ears stood straight, pointing forward on alert. Katia narrowed her eyes watching the person shimmer onto her front porch. Quietly she says, “Ahhh, so Uncle Cronos visits again this week. Have you noticed wolfie, he visits a lot more than Lucifer and grandfather?”

“I have girly.” Aza answered.

They sat up in the tree observing Cronos as he walked around looking for them. He went in the house but was back on the porch in minutes. Katia smiled as Aza said, “Looks like our little experiment with your new powers worked.”

“Yes, it does.” Katia said, proud of herself. One of the things that has happened since she and wolfie have been isolated on the island, is that her powers are awakening. She is learning that she can manipulate her surroundings in different ways. She can pull energy from the environment and create an invisible barrier. She did this in her and Wolfie’s home, which is why Cronos was not there for long. He could not go past the first room. Katia had also found a way to break the block for a few minutes that grandfather put up to keep her loved ones from their bond with her and finding out she was alive.

Knowing what her girly was thinking about, Aza asked, “When are you going to try breaking the block?”

“I don’t know Wolfie, I am afraid if I do, grandfather will find out and claim I broke the deal.” Katia told her sadly. Aza knew how much her girly really missed everyone. She hid it well from their visitors, but she could not hide it from her. Aza missed them too. Even that no good mate!

After watching Cronos wander around the cabin looking for them, Katia moved a bit, which made the leaves in the tree rustle. Cronos stopped and looked up. Seeing them sitting on the branch eating a banana, he asked her, “You do know that Aza is a wolf?”

Rolling her eyes, Katia reassured her uncle, “Yes, uncle, I am aware that she is a wolf and, as she has told me, she wishes to remain a wolf and not eat this mush anymore.”

Wolfie snickered at the sarcasm in her girly’s voice. She spoke softly, but you could hear her, and she was learning to make her feelings known. This island is good for both, whether grandfather meant it to be or not. The peace and quiet has allowed them both to heal and grow emotionally and mentally. The one thing that Aza has ensured her girly does not lose her zest to do the things she could not as a child.

“What is the lesson of your visit today, Uncle?” Katia questioned. She really wanted to be left alone, but not for the reasons she makes them believe. Lucifer has figured it out, but the other two are too full of themselves and how smart they are.

“Why, my sweet Katia, maybe I just want to sit and talk. Maybe I want to go for a swim. I seem to be running out of godly things to teach you.” He countered.

“Well, if there is no lesson, then let me show you my new library,” Katia stated sweetly.

Rolling his eyes, Cronos watched as she and Aza climbed down the tree. It was more like Katia climbing down while Aza hung on to her back. What these two could not accomplish together was amazing. Cronos did not think that the wolf and the humans were supposed to be so in sync with one another. He would have to do some research. Following his niece into the house, he watched as she walked with more confidence in her step. When they reached the new room added to the house, he noticed he moved through the house with no problem. Earlier, he could not move out of the first room. It was like something was keeping him from going through the doorway. Raising an eyebrow, he stared curiously at Katia.

Katia continued into the room acting oblivious to her uncle’s curious stare. She started showing him the different books in her library. “Look Uncle, I have books about each titan, god, demigod, angel, and mystical creatures.” Moving along the shelves she showed him the section with the human stories and fairytales. The next section was her favorite. She excitedly told Cronos, “I even have all the books written about us and other supernatural creatures by humans. Next, I am going to add a movie theater room. One like the packhouse had and all the supernatural movies made by humans and supernatural’s alike.” Katia was beaming at him with this announcement. He had heard about her and her sister’s obsession with werewolves, vampires, dragons, faires, and any other supernatural movie made.

“Who knows, maybe one day, I will write my own book or movie.” Katia chuckled.

Cronos was sure that would never happen, but he continued to let her have her fantasy. He continued looking at the different titles and noticed there was one subject missing. Turning to look at his niece, he inquired, “No romance novels to read?”

“NO. I have had enough of real romance to know that crap in books does not exist.” She scowled at him.

Sighing Cronos did not argue with her. What would be the point? She was never going to have the chance to find out differently anyway. At least she was making the best of her deal with Uranus and enjoying her life. The day would come when this would be over, and she would have to deal with reality. That day may be sooner than later if those wolves and her family figure things out.

As they wandered around the library looking at all the books she had, Cronos spotted a book and pulled it out. Pondering the title of the book, he revealed the book's content, “A book on the mystical white wolf.”

Katia stared him straight in the eyes and said, “Yes, they are one of my favorite species of wolves.”

“Did you know that this morning two white wolves found their way to the Moon Touched pack?” Cronos challenged.

“Really Uncle, I am the keeper of wolves and assign them to their humans. Of course, I knew that two were still alive and in hiding. I hid them for goddess’s sake.” She snapped at him.

“Don’t get snippy with me, girl. I just find it odd that they have come out of hiding and showed up suddenly in your newly created pack.” He said through his teeth. He did not like this side of his niece. This was new.

“Uncle, I wish I could tell you the why, but as you know, I have no way of communicating with my wolves. Only Selene can and I have told no one of their existence.” She quipped back at him. Katia was tired of this visit and wanted to be alone. He was not here for anything but to see if she was breaking the deal somehow. Why? It seems, regardless of what Cronos says, he really does not want her to get out of here.

Katia takes the book from him and slides it back on the shelf. “I wish you to go now. I want peace and quiet.” As she said the words he shimmered out of sight. Cronos hated the day she figured out all she had to do was wish for something on that stupid island, and she got it.

With Cronos gone, Katia and Aza breathed a sigh of relief. For some reason, it was harder this time not to let Uncle Cronos know that they were becoming stronger and gaining powers. Aza spoke quietly, “Good the white wolves made it. Lucifer got the message to them.”

“Yes, and now they will be truly safe and protected. Mark will never lust for their power and keep them locked up to control them.” Katia said, relieved.

“At least they were not mistreated and abused where they were,” Aza remarked.

“No, but being locked away can be just as bad. Not everyone welcomes being away from others like we do.” Katia explained to her wolfie.

“Girly, I like being around other wolves. I am a pack animal. I am able to survive with just you because we are pack and have been since the beginning of our time.” Aza clarified.

“I know wolfie. I miss them all also.” Katia let her know.

“I know you do, girly. You even miss that no-good scoundrel mate.” She huffed.

“Don’t huff at me. You miss him too.” Katia piped back. Aza chuffed and added, “See if you can do that unblocking thing. We need to have a plan. Something is going to happen; I can feel it.”

“Fine, I will try it on Selene. If it works, she will keep it quiet until she is sure she is not crazy.” Katia informed her wolf as he closed her eyes and concentrated.

She pictured the wall Uranus had erected to block her bond from everyone. Behind the big wall were little ones for everyone. She had to find Selene’s wall. Once she found it, she pictured it lowering. Once it was completely down, Katia's mind linked to her sister, “Lili, shhhh don’t react. It is me.”
