Chip and Bob had been glued at the hip all morning. They both stood in the middle of the fire pit on the phone with Alpha Lorn of the Starlight pack. They had no way of knowing for sure what was happening to others in the god realm. They knew something was going on because a few hours ago, anyone who had been moon touched or blood bonded with Katia, had begun crying out in pain. They had quieted down now, however, they all claimed to feel the goddess' pain still. Chip watched as the angels who had been led astray, screamed orders at the ugliest creatures he had ever seen. They looked like someone was trying to cross-breed different animals and something went wrong. Some had red skin, some had black skin, there were scales, oozing boils, gangs, tusks, and more than two arms or legs. some even looked like wolves that were disfigured.
The creatures were throwing fire, something the angels defending them called, brimstone, and were ramming the gates with their bodies. Horut, the angel leading the group sent by Lucifer to defend the two packs, was drawing pictures in the air, along with the witches from the Moon Touched pack. while they did this they whispered a chant and suddenly a protective dome surrounded the two pack lands. Nothing was getting through to damage anyone or anything. Outside of the dome, fighting continued with angels against angels and their creatures.
While Bob was doing head counts and checking on the packs, Chip had now joined a video call with all pack Alpha's across the world. Whatever was happening, it was happening everywhere. According to all of the other Alphas, mystics had been sent out worldwide to the other packs and made part of those packs. They were all doing the same thing at Moon Touched and Snow Moon. Some of the warriors were disappointed that they were not allowed to participate in the fight and were complaining.
Horut spoke against their complaints, "Be careful what you wish for little wolves. This may be a war you cannot win."
Lorn heard the angel over the phone and asked, "Chip, has Horut or any of the other angels heard from Lucifer?"
"Only when he sent a link to them telling everyone to get ready. He told them he had a feeling that Uranus was going to play dirty," Chip replied. There was a loud boom and the protective dome faltered. The witches along with Horut were moving their hands faster and chanting just as fast as their hands were moving. The dome flashed a few more times and then steadied.
Sighing with relief, Chip explained to the other Alphas what had just happened to the pack's protective barrier. The others realized the same thing had happened simultaneously to all of them. One of the alphas from a Transylvanian pack divulged, "I 'ave heard of dis. It is called a collective working of spells. It es when all involved work at the same time on the same spell."
Another sounding as if he was from somewhere in the United States as well offered, "One of the fire bombs made in through a weakened area of our barrier striking one of our witches. She went down from the burns. It took a moment to get her out and another take her place."
"The fallen witch caused the barrier to weaken momentarily. The rest picked up the slack until she could be moved and your circle reconnected." Exclaimed Chip. He was amazed that the witches were connecting and pulling their energy together. He had no idea that they were so powerful and could accomplish things like that.
Lorn yelled as something exploded off-screen, "Crael, to your left." The phone panned to the side and an angel appeared floating in the air. He nodded in thanks towards the ground, as a fireball sailed past singing his wings. He spun, in the air, throwing his hands towards the demons on the ground. Lightning flew from his fingertips, striking the entire anything in its path on the ground. Several of the demons disintegrated into the ground. Others stood dazed with smoke coming from their eyes, mouths, nose, ears, and one ran around dropping to his butt from time to time trying to put flames out. If it was not for the angels leading the demons and other creatures it would have been more of a comedy play than a war.
Bob wondered, "Is this for real? It seems like someone is messing with us. How can these things destroy us? They cannot even dodge lightning bolts."
Crael came into sight on Lorn's phone, "Do not underestimate them. If the barriers give, we cannot defeat them without the others and they are fighting their own battle right now." Crael had finally resorted to drawing his sword which was monstrous and sung each time he swiped it at an enemy. He swung his sword deflecting lobbies of brimstone from the barrier. Checking the witches in the center of Ma's garden, he saw that they still stood strong and were not tiring yet. He could only hope that whatever was happening in the other realm, would end in their favor. He had heard from every angel in this realm defending the inhabitants but he had not heard anything from Lucifer since the start.
Lorna was with the Moon Touched pack and had let him know that the pack members had felt the pain their Alpha Luna had experienced and still did but to a lesser degree for now. They could feel the mental anguish she felt at witnessing whatever was happening. They could hear her cries when she could not hold the block in place. He sent Lorna words of reassurance that he did not feel but needed her to stay strong and help the packs she was with, "All will be well, my angel. Lucifer and friends will return before we know it and these dogs will know defeat."
Lorna smirked and reminded him, "You may want to be careful using the word dog as a slur when surrounded by packs of werewolves, my soul."
"I will remember and find another slur to use." he retorted smiling slightly. He was starting to believe that the woman was unshakable. Once she understood her situation she took to it like she had been born to it. She was amazing to him and Crael sincerely hoped that they would have more time to discover their soul connection. Leave it to Zeus to repay him when a war is about to start. He has also learned that the beings of the earthly realm did not deserve his indifference. Crael and other angels would like to see where these amazing beings would end up if given the chance to continue evolving.
He heard Chip and Bob yelling to their packs to take cover and glanced to see the Starlight Alpha and his brothers pushing alpha powers at the circle of witches. The hope was that the alpha powers would lend them strength to continue. Lorn let him know that all of the alphas were doing the same. He heard Lorna curse through their link and felt pain shoot through his shoulder. She was cursing at someone for ruining her beautiful feathers. Then he heard the voice of the one she was up against and fear ran down Crael's spine.
Gabriel smiled cruelly at the new angel. She deserved not to be as he. She was a mere wolf and Zeus took pity on her because she was caught in the middle of Uranus' revenge. Oh boo hoo, who cares. That does not mean she gets to be an angel and then the soul mate of another like her. Where is the fairness in that? So many of their kind are left with no soul mate and live for eternities without one. These things that are held in such high esteem by the great one are so underserving and Gabriel plans to ensure that none survive. Including the one in front of him and her soul mate.
"Do you think you honestly can defeat me? You have no idea who I am." Gabriel snarled at her.
"You mistake me for someone that cares who you are." She quipped back to him.
"Brave aren't you? You have no idea who I am." He said as he threw an arrow of fire at her. Lorna flitted to the side and the arrow just missed hitting her in the chest. As she spun and dove toward the ground he threw a lightning bolt and ball of fire at her. The lightning bolt hit her in the back as the fireball smacked into her wings. She hit the ground with a thud as another angel threw water on her and she took off again for the sky.
Once in the sky, she heaved one of her fireballs toward Gabriel. He turned raising his arm which held a shield. The fireball was deflected and he laughed. "Little girl you should have paid more attention to angel war tactics. You aren't able to use your magic to call your shield."
"Not that I am not able, more like I do not need to." She yelled back to him. She then raised her hands a drew angelic symbols in th air. Gabriel gave pause and stared not sure he saw correctly.
"You think to make me believe that you know the old magic." He questioned.
"I think to do no such thing. I am showing you." Lorna instructed him like a child.
He threw everything he had at her and nothing. It all bounced off a barrier she created around herself. It did not matter though the witches were getting tired and the barrier was weakening. It was only a matter of time and this realm would exist no more. He could see the witches sway with exhaustion below and the alphas could not keep supplying them with their strength. They would need it for the fighting when the barrier fell.
"Look, imposter angel, your kind are about to fall and exist no more." Gabriel gave a cruel laugh as the barrier flickered and fell. The angels swooped in as the rest of the creatures on the ground broke through the gates and attacked.
The same had happened everywhere and they were on their own for Lucifer and the others were nowhere in sight.
