Lorn, his father, Crael, and a few warriors tried to keep his mother in the middle of them, in case of an attack. She was having none of it. Ma kept getting in front of them and telling them to follow her. As the men hurried to keep up with her she was muttering something about them being slower than a turtle. His father shook his head and hurried his pace. Crael asked, "Why did you all not shift?"
Lorn shrugged, "Beats me. I am sure Ma has some reason or she is just too excited. I wonder what she is talking about?"
Crael was quiet for a few moments and Lorn knew he was talking with Lorna. They had heard nothing from any of the packs since yesterday when everyone went into hiding. It was the only thing they could do to preserve their species and keep it from being eradicated. Finally, Crael spoke, "Your sister is well. The two packs are still hiding, in the caves, beyond the waterfall. It seems they have a new friend, a demon that was saved by the young warlock."
"Hopefully the rest of the packs have survived also. Did my sister say what the damage was and how many casualties they suffered?" Lorn requested.
"Very few casualties and most of their buildings or land is in tack. It seems out of our three packs we were hit the hardest. Lorna said she has heard from no one else asking for help or news. I have not heard from any of the other angels out there either." Crael finished his answer just as they arrived at the hidden trap door. Crael could not help but smile at the excitement on Ma's face, she was bursting with it and giving orders to them. "Now when we get down there, do not touch anything. I mean it, do not touch one thing. Only certain individuals can touch what is down there and you boys are not those individuals."
Cade dad put an arm around his mate's waist, "Sweetheart, calm yourself. We will do exactly as you say only if there is no danger to you." Ma pecked him on the cheek, spun out of his grasp, and reached for the handle on the trap door. She pulled the handle using her werewolf strength and stood with a look of surprise while holding on to the door. Blushing Lorn's mother said, "I guess I am a little over-excited. You don't understand though, I never thought the story, that Faerie, told me years ago was true. I thought she was trying to trick me and get me to follow her to the fey realm."
"You have a fey friend, Ma?" Lorn asked his mother. "Why didn't you tell us?"
Sighing, she conceded, "I guess after all of these years I do have a fey friend. She is hanging out over by the weeping tree as we speak. I wish Lorna was here for this. She chased around after Yanylla, for years listening about the hidden underground rooms."
Lorn's father Cade interjected, "Some nights after the two of you had been out with Yanylla all day, both of you were to restless to sleep. Both of you would stay up all night talking about those rooms and that story."
Crael winced as his mate let loose some very unladylike phrases when he relayed what was happening to her. However, he reassured Ma that Lorna was ecstatic that the trap door had finally been found. Looking at Cade and Lorn, he told them, "Lorna says the two of you need to be nice to the fey. It took many years for all of them to trust one another."
Ma muttered, "I still feel bad thinking she was a trickster and wanted to get me to faerie to eat me. Yanylla laughs at me for that to this day." Looking across to the tree, Ma waved and called out, "Take your time my sweet friend. When you are ready you know where we will be. Don't worry I will make sure they follow the rules."
All of the men turned squinting their eyes but saw nothing over by that tree. One of the warriors rushed forward and held out his hand, "Luna, please let me go first and make sure it is safe."
"Luna, you know better, never do you go before one of us, I do not know what I would do if something happened to you." Lorn's father reprimanded his mother.
To which she wrinkled her nose and replied, "Stop calling me that. I am not the Luna, you are retired and the title is for our son's mate."
Lorn chuckled, "But you are my acting Luna until then, mother."
"There is no reason to refer to me as such when it is just us. Not stop dilly-dallying and let's get down into those underground rooms. I have a feeling we need to hurry." Then she was climbing down the hidden stairs of wood and dirt.
Crael having no clue what she had just said, asked, "What does dilly-dally mean and how do I know if I am doing it?" The rest of the men laughed but all answered at the same time, "Never worry Ma will let you know whenever you are doing it around her. We think she means stop wasting time." Crael heard his soul mate laugh in his head. She was entertained by her mother's shenanigans as she called them. So Crael kept their communication open and she was relaying to the two other packs.
As the last of them was climbing down, a flashlight lit up the area they were in. There were ancient items of furniture made of gold filigree and hanging on the walls were relics that looked like weapons of old. As they walked around looking at the weapons, it became obvious that this was a storage area for the gods. Each room they visited belonged to one god, titan, or demigod, as you moved in and out of them a pattern was noticed. The younger immortal's rooms were still being built. Depending on who the room belonged to the furnishing, weapons, books, paintings, jewels, clothing, and whatever was important to that god was in that room.
They were in the room of Zeus and an older version of his shield Aegis was hanging on the wall. There was a painting of a pegasus there also. He looked to be just a foal when the painting was done. Crael reached to run a hand over the shield and he felt Ma's fingers wrap around his wrist and pull it back.
"Do not touch anything. " She whispered. "I am allowed, through the invitation of the fey, to be here and speak of what is further in the library. We are not allowed to touch without permission. If you do touch what is not yours or offered, you will be severely punished. The items of the gods hold the magic of the gods."
The men muttered their understanding but still thought it was unfair to not be able to examine what they now knew to be weapons of the gods. Ma rolled her eyes at the complaining going on around her and thought once more if only Lorna could be here like we always planned.
A soft musical voice sounded out of nowhere, "Our sweet girl is right where she is supposed to be. Luna of the Starlight we always knew she would never be here for this. She has her job to do and she has taken to it wonderfully. Be proud my Luna friend." The men froze in a circle around Ma and her fey friend. This was the first time any of them, including the angel, had come into contact with a faerie. She was short, only coming to below Lorn's pecks, and had long pink hair, big brown eyes, a straight little nose, with cupid bow lips of pink. She was wearing a dress of the sheerest silver material. It shimmered and light bounced off it making a prism on the walls but the sheernest showed nothing of her body beneath. Her little feet were bare and she had a set black wings that were there one moment and hidden the next. She hugged Ma and the men immediately to a step forward.
Ma held her hand up in front of the two of them, "Stop, this is Yanylla, she will do me no harm. Now if one of you gets out of hand, I may not be able to stop her from harming you."
The fey called Yanylla laughed, " Luna friend, stop teasing them. I would only do something like that if they meant you or me harm. I sense no maliciousness in any of them, so I think they are safe." She had the most musical voice and laugh any of them had ever heard.
Waving her hands in the follow me motion she said, "Come my family of Luna friend, the prophecy has started and you must do your part to fulfill it."
They followed her out of room after room. Finally, they stopped in the middle of a huge room with shelf-covered walls everywhere. As you moved along the shelves books appeared and disappeared on the shelves. Ma explained, "The room reads your mind and offers the books on the subject you wish to learn about. As your mind changes so do the books."
Yanylla pattered along the floor to a round table in the middle of the room. There was a huge book standing open in a holder for books. It was written in an ancient language and had beautifully drawn pictures. The two women stood staring at the open pages, Yanylla's voice tinkled in excitement, "The book is open to the exact moment in time we are in. t is a prophecy that was set millions of years ago by the very first goddess."
Both women took deep breaths and read at the same time, "
Where there should be one, there are actually two,
Two becomes four and evens the score,
Two side by side, One spread afar,
One of starlight travels the land to find the moons,
The starlight and moons become one,
Three pairs will rule with love and resolve,
And then the species will evolve.
