Uranus watched the exchange between the wolf and Gaia, his wife who is still causing him trouble. He should have known that the little castle he hid her in would not hold her. Honestly, he is surprised she had stayed there for as long as she did. Uranus was curious as to why she had not shown herself before now. He figured she would get to him eventually and then he would have to stay on his toes.
Gaia was not only beautiful but she was shrewd and very little got past her. When she did discover someone had played her, there was no telling how she would retaliate. He knew that she loved her grandchildren and he had been using a few of them for revenge. She was not going to let him get away with that. Hell, the reason she is here is because of the things he has done to her and their family. None of this would have happened if she had been a little more understanding of his peccadillos.
Movement caught Uranus' eye and he looked back to where his wife now kneeled, once again, next to Zeus. Why does everyone love that guy? Uranus wondered for the millionth time. Of course, he was handsome, they all were especially since they could appear in any form or look they wished. Very seldom did they appear in their usual form. It would be too much for the other and they could go mad from seeing such beauty. Those from the god realm tried to only be in their birth form in that realm Gaia was the only one brave enough to appear mostly in her natural form tempered with characteristics from the species she was dealing with at the time. No matter how many times she does it, not once has anyone been frightened of her. Uranus winced at that because he knew that everyone should be frightened of her. She was the ultimate giver of life. She could take that life as easily as she gives it.
He watched as his wife patted the fallen god on the cheek once more, bent and kissed his forehead, and then said to his son, "Nathan take your father to his wife and your mate's uncles. Wolfman, you are to stay with them. You will need their strength when the time comes."
Nathan picked his father up and walked to where Hera had appeared next to Katia's uncles. Glancing at Kane, he saw the other man shrug as if to say he had no clue what was going on. Lucifer was still sitting in front of Katia and Selene, his eyes were closed and he looked to be concentrating on something. The sisters kneeled behind him holding onto each other now. Selene who thought herself weak had no idea the strength emanating from her. He heard the blonde wolf whine at her. Selene immediately pulled the energy back but was too late. The grandfather felt it and drained her of it with a wave of his hand. The huge blonde wolf was standing with his side leaned up against them and his head resting on Katia's shoulder. His tail was wrapped over Selene's shoulder. He was trying to protect both of them at once. The wolf had their back and Lucifer their front.
Nathan could still feel the pain and the exhaustion coming from Katia. Why? Why did that man, who was supposed to love them, Hate them so much? He has everyone here that could be of harm to him and rid the realms of him. The girls are not part of that. They are not able to harm with their powers. Why had no one informed the old man of this little bit of news? Katia started to sink onto her legs and Selene tightened her hold around her to keep her up. Selene was determined that they would not fall at the feet of their grandfather. If he was to kill them, they would not beg for their lives.
Gaia looked at her granddaughters and shouted at her husband, "You old fool let my granddaughters go or know my wrath!"
"Or know my wrath," Uranus mimicked in a high-pitched voice. "Flower, you need to learn a new threat."
"Well, dear, I would have our son cut off your sex pistol, oh but wait, we've already done that." She shouted back at him with laughter."By the way, your daughter Aphrodite who became of your blood mixing with sea is one of the sweetest beauties to ever have been made. Thank goodness you have no way of ruining her and she is living a normal goddess life at this moment."
Uranus sputtered, "Only because you kept her from me. She is my last born and you would not even allow me to name her."
Uranus look at their lives you ruined already. Our children the titans, most of their children have been hidden from you, and now we have to defend a realm that has nothing to do with you, against you."
Uranus was turning red with anger and the girls were keening quietly. Whatever was affecting them became worse with their grandfather's anger. The blonde wolf gave a growl and all the wolves in the little area did the same. Gaia gave a quick glance to the girls and heard Rhea in her head, "He is killing both of them slowly. He is draining them of their life force, not their power like we thought."
Gaia replied, "It is because he has figured out that he cannot use their power to do evil. Their powers are only for good. He knows draining their life force will give him what he seeks differently."
Rhea whispered back, "Mother, what are we going to do?"
Gaia sighed and answered, "I don't know. I am the giver of life but I am only so powerful. I cannot always undo what another god has done or is doing."
Uranus anger was fueled by the fact that once again his family was standing against him, "You will not be able to stop the destruction of the realm loved so much by all of you. None of you can see that the realm of misfits is killing us and our realm."
"No, you idiot, it is bringing new blood to our kind and making a new type of god. One that can live betwixt the realms without working to keep their identity a secret." Gaia explained to him.
"We do not need new blood, you stupid woman. They are diluting our blood and destroying our powers." Uranus screamed and continued screaming, "We are a joke to them. They do not idolize us. They do not pray to us. They think they are better than us."
Gaia waved her hands while saying, "I'll give you stupid," and a turkey stood in his place. "Now while you are trying to figure out what you are, The earth realm inhabitants do not know to feel the need to ask for our help. They were created to learn and evolve by themselves without a higher being's input. Why should they pray to us? What conceit, my dear husband to assume we could give them everything they ask for. They do not know what we are exactly so how could they assume they are a better species? The amount of them who have interacted with us is almost nil. Those who do know of us well look around you. That gives you the answer."
Uranus appeared back to his normal grey-haired, old man physique and uttered, "Very funny, wife. I do not give a damn what those things think of us. They mean nothing to me because in a few more moments they will cease to exist."
Katia and Selene's keening became louder and the both of them were doubling over in pain. Lucifer stood cursing and spat towards Gaia, "The wolf packs are losing the battle. My band of angels are injured and are starting to fall. If you are going to do anything to help them, it needs to be soon."
Nathan stepped forward while Cronos and Crius grabbed each of his arms holding him still. "You can do nothing to help her, this has to play out the way it was meant." Staring up at Katia and her sister, Nathan thought he heard her speak in his mind, "It is okay, Nathan, know there is nothing you can do. Everything will be better soon."
