Gaia walked around her own island, enjoying the freedom she had to do so now that she was free from the decaying Tartarus. She wished that place could be destroyed and would be happy to see it done. However, she realized that Tartarus was needed for the monsters and gods who received banishment as punishment. She hoped never to have to return there, and a shiver ran down her spine as he remembered the dismal, decaying land of the place. Tartarus was as far beneath the earth as Mt. Olympus was above. It was deeper than the underworld. It had been so hard to create a new life while she had been banished there. Gaia will be forever grateful to her children for finally freeing her and her grandchildren for keeping Uranus busy while the deed was done.
After creating Uranus, Gaia realized they could create and populate the realm together. So she slept with her son and created the Titans. Uranus hated his children from the moment they were born and hid them deep in the earth. It broke Gaia's heart. After years of sleeping with him and creating all types of creatures, monsters, and titans, among the other things needed to support those lives, Gaia was desperate to stop Uranus' tyranny, cheating, and creating children with other women. She was able to convince Crius to help her. He hid in her room, and when his father appeared to have sex, he swung his sickle at the right moment, castrating him. The blood that fell on her had caused her to birth to the furies, giants, and tree nymphs. When Crius threw Uranus' manhood into the sea Aphrodite was born. Gaia made sure Uranus had no contact with her.
A tear ran down her cheek at the memories: "You fool, I loved you so much, and you didn't care. All you ever wanted was more and more power. Now, your son, Cronos, has the same prophecy." She whispered to the wind, wondering if, wherever Uranus' soul had gone, he could hear her. She hoped that she and Rhea had set things in motion that would keep Cronos' prophecy from happening. Sighing, Gaia walked to the edge of the ocean and stood, letting the waves wash upon her feet and recede. It had a calming effect while she thought about her children and how none of this was what she had wanted or dreamed of for them. She could not say, being the creator of the gods and their realm, what she did want for them but she knew that it was not this. They fight each other for power and destroy realms that have not had a chance to evolve. For a while, she had lost focus of what she had started to create and went crazy. She could not stand being banished, and after all, she is a woman with feelings like anyone else.
Rhea surprised her when she was afraid that Cronos would hurt Zeus because he had found his true mate in the earthly realm, and she was to bore him a child. She had helped Rhea and Zeus escape to Crete. However, Cronos did not intend to hurt the young Zeus, even though his child was prophesied to defeat him in the future and send all the titans back to Tartarus. That is the prophecy she and Rhea are trying to prevent because if it happens then the fall of the gods and their realm will begin. The very thing Uranus was afraid of.
Sitting down on the sand and enjoying the waves rolling gently in and out, Gaia turned her thoughts to her very special granddaughters. She was giving them time to heal and see everything from a different point. She could only hope that they would not give up and let go. She did not want to interfere with their decisions, but if that were the one they made, she would have to. Those two girls had to fulfill the prophecy set for them. It meant an enormous change for their beloved wolves and the continuance of the species. Those girls thought they were so weak but they were strong. They had tried over and over to foil Uranus and took everything thrown at them. Even at the end, neither one cried out after the initial attack on them before that stupid fight. They both suffered what he was doing to them quietly, even the little wolf, she made not one sound. She continued being her playful immature self. When Rhea relayed the SBD story to her, she laughed so hard that she almost birthed the new life she was carrying at the time.
Gaia dug a hole in the sand deep enough to hold water and prevent it from absorbing back into the ground. She stuck her forefinger into it and made a stirring motion. She watched as pictures appeared in the water. It was the Starlight pack ranking wolves and the fey that watched over the mother Luna. She smiled, wondering if she should let those two women know that they were actually sisters and the fey was meant to find the child Luna that day. Funny how fickle fate can be even without interference. The father, Alpha, had found the tunnels of the gods. It was the right time finally. The Starlight lands were the correct lands to hide their possesions on. The sister Feys kept the secret and everything safe for years. She had known the two young ones could do it. Once again, her granddaughter's creations had proven their worthiness and loyalty to them. Gaia has not seen too much of that from the other supernaturals inhabiting the earth realm or other realms for that matter. When the twin babies relayed what they had wanted to Zeus and Hera, they seemed to understand immediately that the girls were trying to save the wolves from being hunted to extinction. So, after long hard thought and discussions the couple decided that the best of the human species and the best of the wolf species needed to be combined and create a completely different species. Like any other species, there are always the bad and the good, but Uranus' magic destroyed some good wolves that, without his messing with their minds, would have had good lives and done wonderful things for their kind.
As always, Gaia had foreseen a good part of this happening, not all of it but enough, and knew she would have to do something. She did not know she would have to kill the man she once loved until the moment she did it. Stirring the puddle faster, the pictures moved forward in time; she saw where the Starlight pack had decided to lock the trap door and cover it with dirt and grass so no one would find it. They had decided to find the other packs in the prophecy they had found and now were fast approaching the Snow Moon pack lands. She watched as the young Alpha looked out for his pack, and his main worry was his mother, father, and Yanylla. The Alpha and the angel Crael were now fast friends and seemed inseparable. Gaia wondered how that would work when she knew the angels could not stay in the earth's realm forever. They had to return to Mt. Olympus or be banished. They were not of the human world and could not live among them. They could visit but not stay. She closed her eyes and let her emotions reach out. She felt the love the angel Crael felt for his newfound family. It made her feel sorry for the angel. His human life had been cut short by Zeus' actions and now this was the best Zeus could give him to make up for it. She would have to think about this issue.
Gaia spun her finger around one more time and saw her granddaughters' bodies resting in a big bed beside one another. She saw Nathan, Zeus' son, holding Katia's hand and saying something to her. The Alpha of Moon Touched was speaking to Selene and petting Aza. Neither girl nor wolf moved. Lucifer walked with his hair still dripping from a recent shower. He put a hand on each girl and closed his eyes. When he opened them he did the same with Aza. She saw the look of disappointment and fear on his face. Sighing, she stood and muttered, "Girls, you cannot leave this realm or the other. You still have things to accomplish in both. I will give you a little more time and if you have not reached out to Lucifer, I will have to interfere." She looked down into the puddle once more time before leaving to go inside and saw the scene had changed back to the Starlight pack. They were almost to the gate of Snow Moon's land.
She stared at the moving forward and spoke to Alpha Lorn's face, "That's it, young Alpha. Get yourself to Snow Moon and then onto Moon Touched. You have a surprise awaiting you there."
