Moon Touched

68 Alpha Lorn pov

Ch. 68 / 142 May 02, 2026

Alpha Lorn had been back home in the Starlight pack for about a month now. The few remaining members of the Blood Meadow pack had joined his pack and given loyalty to him. Most of the Blood Meadow pack had gone to the Moon Touched pack and joined with them. Their loyalty to their Alpha Luna is unbreakable even in death. He had received the news yesterday from Alpha Mark of Katia’s death, and he was heartbroken for her pack and mate. No details were sent, just that she had been killed due to the vendetta against her family. The news crippled him when he read it. She was just beginning to heal and live her life happily. He did even have the chance to help them with the problem of her grandfather. He had not known her for long, but she had forgiven him for rejecting her and wished for him to have a second chance mate someday. Lorn did believe that it would happen after what he had done when he found Katia. He doubted her sister would ever forgive him now.

His father, retired Alpha Cade, came in and sat in the chair in front of his desk. Looking around, he said, “Why don’t you redecorate this place? Make it yours now that I have retired and only step in while you are away.”

“I had planned on letting my mate redecorate the entire packhouse the way she wanted. But that will not happen now.” He told his dad.

“The moon goddess will forgive you eventually and give you a second chance mate. Give it time.” His father said.

Grimacing, Lorn shook his head slightly. He had not told his father all he knew about Katia and her pack. He felt it was better to keep it quiet for now. In the beginning, no one would find out where she was and now, so they could mourn and heal. Besides, those packs sounded like they were now a haven for the gods when visiting this realm. He already had a goddess mad at him. He didn’t need any other god’s wrath coming down on him.

“What brings you here this morning, father?” Lorn asked his dad after a few minutes of quiet.

His father sat there a little longer with sadness on his face, and then he said in a broken voice, “So much death lately. Your sister and that poor little Luna. What is happening in this world? Women are used for revenge and being punished for no reason. No matter how I look at it, I cannot understand what drove Alpha Thomas to do the things he did. Why did he kill your sister? She was his fated mate. Anyway, after all this time, your mother still will not leave your sister’s room. She is barely eating, and I am afraid she is going to try to follow our daughter.”

“I am sorry dad, that it took me so long to figure out he had killed her. I tried to get her to come home after she finally told me about the abuse. She refused. She believed the bond would eventually heal him.” Lorn told his father.

“It was not your fault, son. You did your duty to your sister and avenged her death the day you killed that S.O.B.” Cade answered his son.

Alpha Lorn sat for a moment, noticing how much his father had aged recently. What used to be a dark chocolate brown head of hair was not more white than dark. His facial hair was all white now. When did that happen? Lorn thought to himself. His father's normally bright sky-blue eyes were faded and dull. They were full of sadness and heartache. There was worry in them too. His father's normal muscular physique was not as pronounced nowadays. He had stopped working out in the gym and with the warriors. Spending all of this time watching over his mate and caring for her. His parents’ hearts were broken. NO parent should have to bury a child. That is exactly what they had to do. It killed him that day when his mother tried to throw herself in with her only daughter screaming. She had to stay with her, so her daughter wouldn’t be scared.

Choking back, the tears threatening to spill down his face, “Dad. I will talk to mom. Maybe if we think of someway for her to do something in Lorna’s name, then it will help her to come back to us.”

His father agreed and added, “I am sending your younger brother to return home from training early. I think having all her living children under the same roof again may help, too.”

“Give her time dad, you know how much she loved Lorna. They were like twins. I still have not come across a mother and daughter that were so much alike as mom and Lorna were.” He stated.

Smiling sadly, his dad responded back, “Your mother swears she does not have favorites, but I know differently you and her daughter are her favorites. Oh, she loves your brothers, but you were her firstborn and Lorna her only daughter. I still cannot figure out her fascination with your names though.”

Once his father had left his office, Alpha Lorn did some paperwork and then decided to go for a run. He let his beta, Riley, know he was going for a run and took off for the woods. He hadn’t let Cully, his wolf, out for a while, and he was ecstatic to run free. After running for what seemed like hours, he was sitting next to a little stream he had found as a child on their land. He leaned down and lapped up some water. Quenching his thirst, he laid down curled into a ball and fell asleep. Lorn dreamed of a beautiful woman and child running with him in a field. He could not see the woman’s face completely, but enough to know she was beautiful. The child was a little girl. She was a tiny little thing with blonde curly hair. She was running in front of him yelling," catch me daddy, catch me!"

Something startled Lorn awake, and he immediately went on alert. He was still in wolf form, so anyone seeing him would just think he was a wolf taking a nap next to the stream. Squinting his eyes, he sees something or someone coming down from the sky with the sun behind them. What the hell? Lorn squints harder and continues to stare. A man with white wings and nothing but a loin cloth was standing in front of him.

Lorn stands up and crouches ready to attack. This was an angel standing in front of him and some of the angels did not like the inhabitants of the earth realm. Cully growled and snarled at the angel standing in front of them. Lorn wondered what he wanted. He was just standing there staring at them.

“Stand down pea brain. I am not here to hurt you. Not yet at least.” The angel spat at him.

Lorn and Cully just continued with a low growl of warning. To which the angel responded, “You really think you are scaring me little wolf. Shift back.”

With that order given, Lorn, who is an Alpha and the only person able to make him shift from his wolf, would be the Alpha King, shifted to his human form without a thought. Walking to a tree, he grabbed a bag, hung from it and pulled out a pair of shorts. Walking back to where the angel stood, he glared up at him. The angel was at least eight feet tall. Lorn thought the angel was splendid. He had a chiseled face, like someone cut him from stone and brought him to life. The angel reminded him of the statue of David, which humans are fond of. This angel was not as muscular as male wolves were but leaner muscled. He was so pale that it made him ethereal looking. He had long wavy brown hair and his eyes were black like he was looking into a deep well and not seeing anything but darkness.

Alpha Lorn finally realized he was staring like a goofball and asked, “Who are you? Why are you on my land?”

The angel acted as if he was disgusted by Lorn and noticing the wolf being's body movements, he said, “Do not worry wolf being, I find all the inhabitants of this realm disgusting. From what I have observed so far, anything involving humankind is unintelligent.”

Questioning once more, Lorn asked, “Why are you here on my property, if we disgust you so much?”

The angel sneered, “I am trying to find out what the benevolent Zeus finds so interesting about the different humankind species inhabiting this realm. Why does he love you more than angels, his creations also? Why does he feel you deserve forgiveness and salvation repeatedly, yet we are punished immediately for our crimes?”

Lorn was confused by all of this. What was going on, he wondered. Titans, gods, and goddesses are roaming the earth realm. Now here is an angel spying on the species that live here. Something is not right. Is someone stirring up trouble in the other realm? Focusing back on the angel, he inquired, “Do you have a name? Or should I just call you angel?”

“Ah yes, the ever politeness of the species living here. It is quite sickening, how you all act like you care about one another yet so many of you are envious of each other. My name is Cael.” The angel replied.

“Cael, I do not know the answers to your questions. Maybe you should ask Zeus your questions,” Lorn suggested.

Cael rolled his eyes. Yes, the freaking angel actually rolled his eyes, Lorn observed. He then spoke, “Lucifer has already tried that and look what happened to him. Although he does not seem to be unhappy about it. He has turned his little fall from Zeus’ grace into a happy little life for himself. He and Zeus are even better friends now than they ever were. It is sickening.”

“Look Cael, I don’t know much about that. I am not of that world. I suggest you get off my land and go back to wherever it is you came from.” Lorn told the angel.

“You beings are so stupid believing you can take on anyone. When I could end you with a snap of my fingers. I will leave your land for now. It will not be your land for much longer.” Cael laughed menacingly.
