Seraphina swallowed, witnessing those firm grey eyes staring at her and then they shifted to her behind.
"Take the bag to my study room and wait for me there," He commanded.
"Yes, Boss,"
Seraphina turned her head and saw Ryan's lowered head.
"Let's go,"
She again tossed her head and witnessed those grey eyes were now on her. She didn't reply, instead just turned around and grabbed her bag and then started walking towards the main door but she was clearly aware of him following her.
"Finally, your hand has almost healed, Seph,"
Seraphina nodded, hearing Evelyn, who was checking her hand.
"Yeah and it would have healed more satisfyingly if you would have splashed that hot soup on that bi#ch's face,"
Evelyn chuckled whereas Seraphina sighed, hearing Nevada.
"She didn't do it intentionally, Neva," Seraphina uttered, defending Lyra because her naive heart didn't want to believe that Lyra had done it intentionally to her.
Nevada rolled her eyes, finding her again defending Lyra.
"Yeah, yeah... she's a saint,"
"You seem very much discontented towards Lyra Bailey, Neva. Don't you think, now you should at least try to think a little positively about her, as now she's going to be Mr Grayson's wife, whom you consider as your brother?" Evelyn uttered
Seraphina's heart throbbed again at the mention of their wedding.
"Wife? If it would be on my hand, then I would have broken this marriage before even this shit came into the picture," Nevada spat.
"Lyra Bailey is a wicked woman. She can do anything in her selfishness, including hurting another human,"
Seraphina sighed and closed the book, before her.
"Can we please talk about something else. I don't want to hear about this," Seraphina blurted out with a little loud voice because even now the mentioning of their names was bothering her.
Evelyn and Nevada exchanged a sceptical glance at her remark.
"Seraphina, is everything alright?" Evelyn asked, concerned because Seraphina barely raised her voice in any matter.
Seraphina heaved and nodded.
"Ok, fine. I can understand her. This topic is really annoying, so how about we talk about the carnival going on in our city?" Nevada tried to lighten up everyone's mood.
"Carnival?" Evelyn asked.
"Yeah, carnival. This carnival takes place once in an year and this year's is here. It is going to last for a whole week with 7 different kinds of themes, every day and night," Nevada informed.
"Oh.. Yes. I remember. Me and Seph had visited it last year with Nathan. It was so fun. Remember, Seph?" Evelyn spoke, excited but her smile dropped when she saw Seraphina's sorrowful face and she knew exactly why.
"Hey! My baby Seph, Nathan will come back soon. Just some more weeks," Evelyn knew how much Seraphina was missing her brother.
Seraphina just nodded. Nevada sat beside her and hugged her from the side.
"We all are here for you, Seraphina. Me, Evelyn, Nick and most importantly, Arzal,"
A pang erupted in her heart, hearing his name.
"So don't be so disheartened. Till your brother doesn't come back, you can help me and Evelyn in beating and troubling Nick,"
Seraphina chuckled softly and her both friends smiled, finding her happy.
"Okay, so I think we should go to that carnival. What do you guys say?" Evelyn asked.
"Exactly, we definitely should and how about tonight because I have heard that their tonight's theme is very special," Nevada agreed with Evelyn.
"What do you say, Seraphina?"
Seraphina suspired at Nevada's words.
"I can't go because I might not get the permission to go out at night," She knew he would never agree to let her go out, especially at night.
"Permission, really? But from whom? Arzal?" Nevada frowned and Seraphina wagged her head.
"I'll ask for his permission and besides, we all will be there and I'll take Nick with me for our safety at night,"
Nevada's words didn't buy Seraphina.
" Now be happy, Seraphina because we all are going to that carnival tonight?" Nevada said and Seraphina just stared because she knew he would never agree to this.
"No, she's not going anywhere, Nevada,"
Nevada scoffed whereas Seraphina glared at that grey-eyed owner before them. They all were standing in front of the school gate, after their school day ended.
"But Arzal, me, Evelyn and Nick are going to be there with her," Nevada protested but he just shrugged his head.
"No, she is my responsibility, Nevada and I can't risk it," He declared, making Seraphina clench her jaw.
"You're sounding like I am taking her on a war, Arzal. It's just a damn carnival and if you're worried about her safety so much then come with us,"
Seraphina fixed her gaze more keenly at him, hearing Nevada because she wanted to know his answer. Seraphina's heart inflated when he finally trailed his eyes at her and answered.
"No, I can't. I am going out tonight with Lyra,"
Seraphina dug her nails in her palm, hearing his words.
"But Arzal,"
"I will take permission from Nathan,"
Everyone turned their heads at Seraphina, hearing her, who was gazing at Arzal.
"And if Nate permitted then I guess, you won't have to worry about me going out at night, Mr Grayson,"
Arzal's jaw tightened at her defiance.
"You're not going out at night," He groaned, glaring at her azure eyes. Seraphina matched his glare and retorted
"Let it be on Nate to decide, Mr Grayson,"
They both gawked into each other's burning gazes, until
"Wow... you two look so hot and cute while bickering with each other,"
Nevada's comment broke their trance.
"It looks like you both are a perfect married couple," She giggled.
Seraphina's gaze broadened at Nevada's remark whereas he just gazed at Seraphina.
"Don't say such nonsense things, Neva," Seraphina got angry at her statement.
"Okay, okay, sorry. I was just kidding," Nevada apologised.
"No, don't even think about saying such things," Seraphina spat, completely triggered and then looked at him, whose eyes were already on her.
"Because I hate playing with people's emotions, even in a joke,"
Arzal remained shut at her words but he knew what she actually meant.
"I am sorry, Seraphina. I didn't mean to hurt you,"
Seraphina came back to her senses, that in her anger she bashed out on Nevada unnecessarily. She sighed and said.
"No, it's okay and I am not going to that carnival. But please you and Evelyn go and enjoy," Seraphina said, closing that discussion.
"But Seraphina,"
"No, Eve. I don't w... "
"You can go," Seraphina's words halted, with his voice.
Arzal stared at her and again spoke.
"You can go out with your friends, tonight if you want but make sure to inform Mr Miller about this in advance,"
Seraphina didn't argue further.
"Now, let's go home," Arzal said and walked towards his car.
Seraphina glanced at her friends, who were looking startled as much as her. Nevada signalled her that she would call her and Seraphina nodded and followed him to his car.
In the evening, clad in a skin tight corset crop blood-red top and black leather shorts, Seraphina was gazing at herself in the mirror. Nevada had decided their dress code for the carnival.
Seraphina tied her hair in a high ponytail, leaving two hair strands to play over her pale cheeks. She wore no makeup, except her dark red lip tint.
Seraphina was wearing her shoes when her phone beeped. It was Nevada's text that she had reached at his house.
Seraphina sighed. She took a last glance of her in the mirror and then walked out from her room.
"You're still looking ugly, Nevada,"
"Not more than you, Nick," Nevada retorted back at her brother, who was sitting beside her on the sofa of the hall.
"Well she's right, Nick. You're ugly," Both the brother and sister turned their heads and saw Arzal, coming towards them chuckling but Nevada's brows furrowed by watching Lyra following him.
"How are you, Nevada?" Lyra asked, showing her fake smile. Nevada mentally rolled her eyes and spat.
"I was good until now,"
Nicklaus coughed at her words, intentionally.
"She means, she's good," He corrected his too bold sister's words.
Nevada gawked at Nicklaus and was about to argue back but stopped by watching Seraphina coming towards them.
"Seraphina, oh my.. "
Arzal's gaze snapped towards her direction, just at the mention of her name and he felt like he forgot breathing when his eyes fell on his azure eyes enchantress. Damn, she was looking like a tempting vixen in those skin tight clothes.
"You're looking beautiful, Seraphina,"
Seraphina smiled and replied.
"You're looking more beautiful, Nevada,"
"You both are looking like twins," Nicklaus commented, as both of their clothes were the same but just had different colours.
Both the girls giggled.
"Yes, it was my idea," Nevada praised herself.
"Yeah, only you can come up with these kinds of ideas, Neva," Nicklaus rolled his eyes, making Nevada frown and Seraphina smiled.
But then her azure eyes finally unintentionally diverted towards that person, who had now started taking over her heart.
Seraphina noticed he was staring at her, like she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen in his life. Her cheeks heated up because his gaze always made her feel beautiful. She had never seen judgement in his eyes of her appearance or mentality, like the rest of the world.
She also scanned his attire. He was dressed up in an expensive black suit, looking deviously handsome as always and by watching the person behind her, she noticed why he had dressed up.
Her throbbing heart felt a painful sting, again watching them together. Lyra was also dressed up in a short one piece, looking gorgeous and mesmerising. She was looking perfect beside him. They were going out together. Probably on a date or more than that.
Seraphina darted her eyes away from them because her eyes had started watered, just with the thought of them being together alone and Arzal keenly noticed every movement of her.
"Ok, now let's go. Evelyn is going to reach there soon," Nevada said and Seraphina just nodded.
Seraphina was about to walk past him when her eyes fell on Ryan entering. She got confused by watching him there at that time, until she heard Arzal speaking.
"Take Ryan with you,"
