"Why were you going to marry Lyra?"
Arzal, who was snuggling his face inside her neck, stopped, hearing her. He lifted his face up, only to meet with her questioning eyes.
"Why were you doing all of that?" She asked again, making him sigh.
"Ser... "
"No lies anymore. I want the truth," Her words were clear and firm.
Arzal again breathed out hard and sat up on the bed. She also followed his action of sitting on the bed.
Seraphina, for the first time, noticed something unusual in his eyes, like something was bothering him and she understood if it was bothering him, then it must be something very relevant.
"The marriage and engagement with Lyra was fake," He uttered.
Seraphina was stunned at his words.
"But why?" She queried, still in disbelief.
Arzal trailed his eyes away from her and rubbed his palm all over his face.
"Even if I tell you, you won't believe me, Sera because.. " He turned to look at her.
"Because you don't trust me,"
Her heart ached at his statement. Arzal suspired.
"And I don't blame you for that. I know the things I've done to you and done for you are not something which would make you trust a person like me,"
The guilt in his eyes and in his tone of his actions was evident. Seraphina got closer to him and cupped his face with her tiny soft palms.
"The thing that I'm here, right in front of you like this is the evidence of how much I trust you," She softly breathed out, looking into his eyes, which got filled with warmth after hearing her.
"Then believe me, that day that Benjamin was here to hurt you and kill you, Sera,"
Her hands dropped from his face. Her eyes filled with untidiness, hearing him. He understood it was still difficult for her to believe it.
"It's the truth, Princess. That day, he was here in my penthouse to force you and then kill you,"
Her eyes watered. She couldn't make herself believe it but she knew he wasn't lying. Arzal had no need to lie to her to portray himself as good before her.
"But why? H..he was my good friend then.."
"He wasn't your friend. He was keeping an eye on you and your every action and was ratting it to someone," He halted her, making her bewildered.
"He was working for someone, who wanted your information, so that he could hurt you,"
"But why me?" She was still confused.
Arzal exhaled sharply and answered.
"Because of me,"
Her gaze enlarged in shock.
"Someone wants to hurt you because that person knows what you're to me and how relevant you're to me and by hurting you, he wants to hurt me," He tried to make her understand in the simplest way.
"Your brother's friend, Dale Lewis's accident wasn't an accident, even it was a plan to kill you, because that person got the information that he was going to pick you up from your school that day,"
Seraphina was beyond shocked and startled.
"And that same person had sent Benjamin to kill you but on that day, when I left you here alone, someone had texted me about Benjamin's intentions for you. That he was coming here to drug you to force and kill you, so I came here to stop him before he could do anything to you,"
Now Seraphina understood why Benjamin was sounding so desperate to get closer to her, that day and that thing which he was pocking at her back.
"I don't know who texted me but he wanted me to save you and I did. I came here rushing to stop that b#stard from injecting you with that harmful drug," He told her
"I tried to find that person who texted me, so that I can find that f#cker who's planning all of this but I got nothing, except for the fact that it was someone closer to me, who knows me well. That's why he was able to find about us and wants to hurt you,"
She wordlessly heard him.
"But I couldn't let something happen to you, so I came up with the plan to make that person believe that I am in love with Lyra and wanted to marry her. You're nothing to me, so that he could stop targeting you, at least for now when I am in search of him because I can't let any harm to you, Princess, at any cost,"
Tears were flowing down from her eyes at the end of his words.
"But you could've at least tried to tell me about all of this," She stated, totally broken.
Arzal again sighed at her statement.
"How could I when I knew you wouldn't believe me and my words, Sera? I told you about Benjamin, that night in my study room but you didn't trust me. You choose to believe him over me and I know I don't even deserve your trust but whether you trust me or not, Princess, I can and I will never let anything happen to you, till there's a life inside me,"
She teared up like a kid at his confession and hugged him tightly as possible.
"I... I am sorry, so sorry for not believing in you that night. I am so sorry," She sobbed. He was doing all of that for her safety and she didn't even try to believe him.
"I am sorry,"
Arzal pulled her on his lap and lifted her face up and cupped it. He wiped her tears and kissed her nose pin.
"You don't have to, Sera, because I am sorry for the things I have said and done to you. I'm sorry for hurting you but I was helpless but believe me, your pain hurts me the most and to the extent that I wasn't capable of watching you suffering that pain, so I backed away from that plan of getting engaged to Lyra,"
He palmed her face more firmly and said, gazing into her azure teary eyes intently.
"She means nothing to me, Sera and not only her, no other girl or woman means anything to me, the way you do, Princess. I have done shitty things in my past but they were before you came into my life and now I know, the only woman and girl I need in my life is you and only you,"
His beautiful words overwhelmed her. Her each and every pain had long forgotten. Now, her heart was dying to embrace him in its cage, forever.
Wrapping her arms around him, crossing each and every barrier of shame, Seraphina settled herself more comfortably on his lap, without caring they both were stark naked.
"I don't want my safety. I want nothing, except you and Nate safe by my side, till the last breath of my life," She declared.
A small beam formed on his face. He knew how much her brother meant to her. He pecked her forehead.
"I will be forever by your side and I know your brother will too, Sera,"
Seraphina beautifully smiled, hearing him and his heart filled with contentment watching her finally smiling.
He gently kissed her lips and pulled her more close, rubbing their nakedness.
Seraphina gulped. Her cheeks heated up, finally realising the position of their bodies. She looked down in shyness, making him chuckle.
"So Miss Miller is still shy of her brother's head boss but she doesn't have to because..." He leaned closer to her ear.
"Her brother's boss's intentions are very shameless and dirty for her," He whispered.
Her face reddened in embarrassment. He flicked his tongue on her hot cheeks
"So can he proceed to show his shamelessness more, Miss Miller?" He teased her, grazing his lips on her nose.
She blushed badly and tried to push him but he held her back on his lap.
"You've no escape from this sinner, Sera. You're his and only his," He held her gaze and she knew how true his words were.
She pecked his lips like a little kitten and whispered.
"I don't even want any escape from my brother's head boss because I want this sinner to be mine and remain mine, forever," She announced, daringly.
He loved her claim over him. He wanted her to own his existence. He pushed her back on the bed and again hovered over her.
"Only you're capable of caging this sinner in your cage,"
Her cheeks flushed, hearing him. She shook her head and replied.
"I don't believe in caging anyone,"
"Yeah, you only believe in caging chocolates inside your little tummy, don't you?" He brushed their noses, while rubbing her abdomen delicately.
She giggled and stopped his hand.
"No, I'm ticklish and hungry," She confessed, shrugging her head.
"You're hungry, so why didn't you tell me?" He asked, clearly bothered.
She pucked up her lips and tore her eyes away from him.
Arzal knew she wasn't properly taking her meals from the day she got to know about his engagement. She had turned more weak.
He got up from her. Seraphina looked at him and saw him getting on his feet. Her eyes widened when he hoisted her up in his arms.
She pulled the bedsheet with her and looked at him confused.
"We're going to feed you with at least 2 bowls of food," He stated, making her shocked.
"No," She whined in his arms and uttered.
"I want chocolate,"
He sent her a tiny fake glare, before chuckling and nodding. He was about to walk but she stopped him.
Seraphina pulled the sheets and wrapped it around their intertwined bare bodies. He smiled and kissed her lips and walked out of his room.
