Alpha's Wife Hunt

Chapter 495

Ch. 495 / 840 May 06, 2026

Derek's POV

Even our high-end cars, let alone ordinary ones, were well-maintained. How could there be a brake failure?

Tabitha's eyes gradually brightened. "Was it the person who harmed our child last time?"

"My mother hasn't shown up for so many years. The likelihood of her having enemies is slim. And the car I came in had no issues. The only one that had an accident was yours, so there's a good chance it's related to your enemies."

Tabitha suddenly widened her eyes. "That person has such a vicious method."

Since she woke up and lost her memory, I had been spoiling her rotten. Even though I had been emphasizing the need to be careful, it seemed like Tabitha only really felt the sense of real danger today when she had a close call with death.

I looked at the car's front end, which had been forced to stop on the buffer strip and was now deformed. If there hadn't been a buffer and it had hit a solid object directly, it wouldn't have just been a deformation. It would have meant that both us and the car would have been turned into dust.

Tabitha pinched her palm hard. "Did I really not have any enemies with deep grudges in the past? How much hatred does a person need to have to be this cruel?"

"Tabitha, I wouldn't let him go."

I took the two of them back home. Tabitha was not in a good mood, and I patiently stayed with her to comfort her.

Tabitha finally fell asleep as the setting sun disappeared on the horizon.

I had just come out of the room when I saw Andrea leaning against the white pillar nearby, smoking.

"Mom, smoking is not good for your health."

Andrea extinguished the cigarette and sat down to the side. "I'm used to it."

"Why didn't you exercise at this time?"

Andrea was quite disciplined in the evenings. She would typically practice yoga and have a light dinner unless there was a special reason not to.

"I'm waiting for you." Andrea lazily leaned back in the chair. "Tell me, what happened today?"

"Didn't you see it?"

Andrea twirled the ring on her finger. "I was crazy back then, but I wasn't stupid. How did the driver who brought us here become one of your guys? When something happened, even if you contacted the police at lightning speed, the interception point should have been at least twenty kilometers away, not at that spot."

"I really can't hide anything from you."

Andrea glanced at me and said, "Don't tell me that you designed this?"

I shook my head. "Of course not. Do you remember me saying that someone wanted to harm Tabitha?"

"Yes."

"Since I knew that someone wanted to take action, I naturally wouldn't allow any danger to occur casually. Today, while the driver was waiting for you guys, he bought a bottle of water. He had a stomachache shortly after drinking it, and someone had tampered with the car after he left."

I turned on my phone and played a surveillance video. In the clip, a man dressed in a cap, sunglasses, and a mask, with his whole body tightly wrapped, took the opportunity to get into the car.

He quickly got out of the car and left within just a few minutes, and the spot where he stayed had no surveillance cameras. It was someone who recorded the video on the spot.

Andrea nodded. "If you knew this earlier, why did you still lead us into a death trap? What were you thinking? I've been living on the edge, but I almost got killed by you."

"Based on the previous encounters, this person was very cautious. If I changed my car today, it would alert the enemy."

"So you want to follow the trail to the source?"

I placed both hands on the table and said in a deep voice, "Yes, Alvin has already led the team to track down this man's hiding place."
