Derek's POV
I checked those provocative posts. The IP addresses were from all over the world. But those posts were sent at the same time. It must have been done by hackers.
"This is someone powerful, considering that he/she could escalate the situation so quickly."
Alvin's face froze. "Alpha Derek, do you suspect it is the one behind the murder-for-hire?"
"Yes. Apart from power and money, this person is unscrupulous. It'd cost millions to mobilize hundreds of members from the Black Wolf Guild. The mastermind could also organize hackers to make a move right after the incident."
We had searched for so long but still got nothing, which gave me a headache.
The mastermind was extremely cautious, always planning an escape route. Every time I thought I was about to get the mastermind, what I found was only an irrelevant corpse.
"Who did Tabitha offend? The one clearly wanted to kill her!"
"The mastermind is probably planning the next move. We must act as soon as possible."
Alvin sighed, "There is no way to prove that Rolf is the murderer, but with him being present at the crime scene and having a motive, the police won't release him anytime soon. Austin also disappeared. It's a dead end."
"Maybe not. Since Lisa was the cause of the matter, we must investigate her to find out who wanted her dead."
"But Alpha Derek, even if we find out the truth, will the woman admit that she paid Austin to kill Lisa?"
"No. But at least we will have room for negotiation. She may have evidence in her hands."
As soon as I said this, Alvin's eyes lit up. "I get it now. I'll have someone work on it right away. Recently, Lisa was involved with several men, so I'll check those men's wives."
"OK." I rubbed my forehead. Tabitha's enemy was much stronger than I had imagined, so it seemed that the plan to go abroad had to be kept secret.
Just after I finished some work, Alvin rushed in.
"Alpha Derek! Our chain of malls all had problems."
My closed eyes opened wide at once. "Go on."
"Lisa's crazy fans caused a disturbance in Greenwood Group's industry. There were people throwing dirt and paint on the sign, and even smashing the stores on the spot.
"Within just an hour, there were more than a dozen incidents. Some people were also holding banners, demanding apologies and retribution from me and Tabitha for the deceased, saying extreme things."
"How could a D-list celebrity have such fans? The second round of attacks has started. The person also knew who Lisa was, so now is aggressively attacking Greenwood Group. After all, we have no evidence and are at a disadvantage for now."
"If this goes on, we'll suffer from huge losses! There are also many troublemakers taking advantage of the situation, like those guys who have always been wary of the Greenwood Group. Now they are seizing the opportunity to loot and trying to destroy the Greenwood Group."
I slammed the table and stood up. My voice was icy cold. "Fine! Let them! I want to see how far they can go. Someone deliberately stirred up this problem. Now we must stay calm.
"Spread the word, call the police if necessary, make sure the lawyers file for compensation, and don't let anyone off without leaving a record!"
As long as I obtained the evidence, I could fight back, and these losses would be recovered twice as much.
So I wasn't panicking. I could also take the opportunity to find out who was causing trouble behind my back, clearing obstacles for myself before I went abroad.
"The most important thing is to inform Zola to keep an eye on Tabitha and stop her from going out. As long as Tabitha doesn't show up, I will be able to handle it quickly."
"Okay." Alvin dialed the bodyguard's phone number, his face turning pale. "Alpha Derek, Tabitha went to the mall with Zola not long ago."
Damn it. Tabitha didn't have a phone, so she had no idea what was going on now.
She was making herself a target.
"Find out where she went. I'll come over right away," I said as I hurriedly grabbed my coat and left.
As I opened the door, several special police officers stood expressionless outside.
"Mr. Greenwood, I'm Detective Samuel Hallett from the Homicide Department. We suspect you are involved in a murder case. Please come with us for further investigation."
