CIARA
Ryan, as the big asshole he had always been, had not bothered to visit us for as long as a week now, but I don't care though.
The only problem I had here was Herzl who had been pestering me about calling his father and asking him to drop by.
I would never call Ryan with my phone, and by the way, I'm glad he learnt it the hard way, and kept himself away from me and my kid.
I had had so much peace all the while he had not been coming by, because not seeing him made me heal as quick as was necessary.
"Ma'am, the nanny you booked for is here."
I turned away from the mirror in my room where I was applying some make up, and faced my PA who was standing by the door.
She doesn't knock at the door before pushing it open to make her reports, because I once told herthat there is no need bothering me with the business of knocking at my door like a stranger.
"I would be with her in five minutes." I said and spurned to the mirror.
I heard the door go shut, and her footsteps announced her departure behind the door.
I touched my eyebrows which I had made curvy and thin lined. That's the good thin about being a rich single mother.
It gives you nothing but the chance to look after yourself the way you wish, not the way people out there wish to see you, and not the way any man wishes to see you.
But it's still a kind of vanity. Imagine looking so beautiful for just yourself, and always waking up alone in bed with all the beauty and the wealth.
Well, I have my pillows, and I always hugged them if ever I needed something to hug, because unlike anything else on earth, those four soft things were the only things that stuck to my bed, and keeps me company all night long.
My lipstick was brazing red and quite tempting for a kiss, but the feeling that the brazing red lips were not there for any man made me fantasize less on them.
I checked out my cloth. I belong to no man, but I still do my best to look decent, because of my loving son, Herzl.
I strutted out of my room, and walked down to the big room downstairs to meet the nanny whom I booked online for my kid.
I had to do that because I learnt that not getting one would turn my PA to a nanny, and that's not a good idea at the first place.
The nanny was slim and pretty, but she is not as matured as I wished. I wanted a matured nanny who would treat Herzl the way his granny treats him, not the one who would make life hard for him under my roof.
"Good morning, ma'am." She was standing and probably waiting for me to sit before she would do herself the good of sitting and having a chat with me on how I wish to get the job done.
I sat down and signaled herto do the same.
She obeyed and sat on one of the sofas.
"Name, please?" I posed.
"Nia." She said with a smile on her face.
She could be good with kids with that smile on her slim body.
I love that smile of hers, and the fact that she is simple and free. I guess she would be around the kids.
It wasn't my business to interview her, but I deserved to know her name, then, I would leave the business of running the interview to my PA, who would do that passionately, and probably hire or worse disqualify her if she wasn't up to the task.
"Good. I like your demeanor, and your outlook. Can you take good care of a stubborn kid?" I posed.
I knew Herzl was stubborn to the core, and it was right to inform her earlier before she would step in for the job that my son is a real stubborn kid.
She shook her head.
Maybe she wasn't expecting such word as I just said. She wasn't ready to be told right in the face that the kid she was booked for is a stubborn kid.
"Don't give me a nod, dear, I need an answer." I said, in my bossy manner.
I guess I turned bossy and somewhat arrogant the night I saw the trash aunt Elsie said about me. I had to go bad to face whatever people think they could do or say about that silly stuff.
"I can handle stubborn kids, ma'am. I've done that a couple of times."
I liked the fact that she said she had done that a couple of times. That's the kind of thing I wanted to hear right here.
"Good."
There was no need referring her to my PA, because she just attested to the fact that she could handle stubborn kids, and she had come for one of them, Herzl, who took my stubbornness and the stubbornness of his father and piled them up in his gene.
"Call Herzl to come see his new nanny." I said aloud, knowing fully well that my PA would hear me from where ever she had nestled at the moment.
"Okay."
I heard her voice, and relaxed on the sofa.
"My son would be here in a minute time. He is fast, and good to be with, but he is stubborn."
I didn't mind putting up a smile while making it clearto her that Herzl was damn stubborn and she shouldn't expect anything less than that.
"Ma'am, Herzl is not here." My PA whispered into my ear from behind.
"What?!"
I sprung to my feet.
"Where is he?"
"The gate keeper said he asked the driver to take him to his father's place."
It was at this moment that it dawned on me.
Herzl was stubborn, but now, he is crazy!
