CIARA
Waking up in the living room was the least thing I planned for myself when I was making meal for us in the kitchen last night before the bad news came.
I had dreamt of waking up in his embrace and curdle, but I just woke up on the couch with my bones and muscles aching.
It wasn't supposed to be this way, but fate made it this way, and I wasn't ready to fight fate either.
I was just ready to go through life the way fate made it, and that means going to Ryan's mother's house and bringing my son, Herzl back to my care.
I knew Ryan wouldn't bring him to me even if I threaten to kill him if he fails to bring him back to me. He had been without him for long, so, I shouldn't expect him to give Herzl back with such ease now that fate had been changed to have him by his side.
I rose from the sofa and stretched my arms, yawning as I did so. Gone were the days when I have people who come to me in bed every morning to ask questions of how the day would go, because Aunt Elsie had done the big bad of getting my domestic staff off from my home.
I stood up and ambled to the stairs, climbing and looking downstairs. Imagine I slept without locking of the big door last night, because I was sad, and I can't remember whether or not Ryan shut the protectors shielding the door before leaving at my command last night.
I walked into my room, and saw my phone on the bed, buzzing and buzzing as though it wouldn't stop getting notifications ofthe mess Aunt Elsie made of my reputation just yesterday.
I picked it up, and just then, I saw a number on the screen of my phone. The number had called fora couple of times but had met nothing but no response.
I clicked in on the number, and thus came the thin voice of my PA. she was not informed earlier of my condition.
Ryan told me that when he was visiting me in the facility. That was when I was gradually recovering from the trauma that got me into the facility.
"Hello, ma'am. I've been trying to reach out to you..."
"Look, I'm okay, if that's what you want to hear, and I'm coming to work today, so, get the office ready because the real CEO is back and the acting CEO has been sacked."
I shut down the phone and made to the bathroom.
There were no more cars in my garage. Aunt Elsie had sold everything, so, I had to walk out and take a cab.
The cab man was a young man who knew what song was good for me with my sad mood, and the manner he was peering at me through the head mirror made me uncomfortable.
Maybe he saw the news. Maybe he knew from somewhere, or he was merely judging between my real-life face and the face she saw on TV.
I felt the urge to ask him to stop being silly and focus on the journey, but I swallowed the urge, because I felt it was quite more than silly to do such.
I ignored his minutely peering, and rested my head on the headrest, cooking up ways of getting myself into Ryan's mother's place and getting my son out ofthere without sitting there to exchange pleasantries.
I prayed they open the gates for me, because silly people wouldn't mind keeping the gate shot when they realize that whoever it was that walked in is not there for peace talks.
The driver stopped before the gate of Ryan's mother's place and honked twice.
I paid him to ride me around the whole day. I had booked a car for myself, and I had hired a driver online, but all those would be put into use tomorrow, not now.
The gate was drawn open, and a security guard, armed with a big gun came out of the property to meet us.
Really?
These guys had gone far enough to get a security officer armed with such sophisticated weapon, to keep me away from coming any close to my son.
I opened the car door and stepped out to meet and confront the armed guard, to keep him from denying me entrance.
"Hey, I'm here to pick my son."
"I know, ma'am, my boss said you are coming."
Those were the least words I ever hoped to hear in my damn life. He wasn't employed to keep me away from picking up my boy and going home with him.
He was just here to secure the property. I felt sad for thinking the negative way, but do I have a choice here?
I don't, so, I wouldn't sit and blame myself for being ready for any damn thing that might happen here.
"Okay, can you go inside and get him for me." I was smart enough to make such a demand, hoping the guard would be foolish enough to do just what I asked him to do.
The guard raised his eyebrows in a mannerthat seemed to mean: what the fuck?
"I would pay you five thousand bucks to do that." I said, hoping he would be the Judas and do as I said, but he seemed to be heavy ladened with pride.
"I don't care what you have to give ma'am, but if you don't wish to go get your kid yourself, I wouldn't mind shutting this gate on your face. Get that?"
Gosh, the asshole was pride, but I guess that's because I didn't bid his service for half a million bucks.
He would obey immediately if I should make such big offer, but I don't think he worths such a head swelling offer.
"Okay, I've head you."
Son of a bitch!
I walked past him, leaving the cab and the driver behind.
