The case went on for hours with family and friends testifying, but when they thought that I had no card left and she had finally won the case, my lawyer dropped the bomb.
"Is there something else you would like to add to all of this?" The judge asked before she can pronounce her judgment.
"Yes please!" My lawyer exclaims and gets on his feet. "Here is a statement from her doctor at the mental facility, it states here that Ms. Ciara Fellers is a harm to herself and those around her"
"Objection my lord! This statement was before she got medical treatment"
"Yes, I have the doctor's report when she was discharged, it states that she should not be left understrict supervision".
He read out and the entire hall was in chaos as the crowd gasp in surprise.
"Order!!" The judge bang her gravel.
"So my Lord, it is a risk that such a woman who is unable to take adequate care of herself is left to take care of a three years old child."
While he finished speaking everywhere was silent for a while and I could see the tears toll down her cheek as she glared at me.
I felt bad because this was not what I wanted, for Ciara to despise me more, but if it is what it takes to get her back, then I must do so.
After the first hearing, the court went into recession before a final verdict can be made, outside the courtroom I could see Ciara sitting on a bench with Gerald beside her offering her a bottle of water.
"You need to calm down Ciara, you have been an amazing mother and I know that there is no way the court will not see that and grant in yourfavor."
"I don't think that is still going to be possible, he brought out all my weakness, he is so cruel and looking at him now, I can't help but wondered how I fell for a monster like him"
"Yeah, it did baffled me too".Gerald chipped in, and just then I walk over to where they sat and she rolled her eyes at me.
"What do you want Ryan?"
"It is not too late Ciara, we can still make this right, go back home with me and let raise our son together"
"I will rather slit my throat off than be under the same roof with a monster like who is so quick to use one's weakness against them" "I am sorry about that, I told my lawyer about it but didn't think that he was going to use it against you"
"Oh! Shut up! You knew that was all he needed to turn the tides around which why you gave it to him and you think that I will crawl into your arms because of that, Never!! " "Ciaralisten..."
"Hey man, that is enough, she ask that you leave and I think you should obey her wish" Gerald exclaimed as he got on his feet and stood right before me, his eyes glaring at me like he wanted to bury me alive, but his actions only made me furious.
"Step aside, this is an issue between married couple, it is rude that you are interrupting"
"Ciara thinks otherwise, if she needs some space, then you should leave her alone, you don't think that she is ever going to want you with the way you keep bulging her".
"And you think that it is you she wants, keep dreaming, I see the way you look at her, but Ciara will never look at you the same way"
"Both of you that is enough!!" She yelled out and got on her feet, pushing me away from Gerald.
"Court session has began!" One of the attendant at the court called out, finally freeing me from this unending fight.
Gerald held her hand and they both walked in, making my heart boil with rage that I wanted to throw my fist at him.
When everyone was seated, the judge began as I held out my breathe.
"After careful deliberation of all the evidence submitted and the testimonies of all the witnesses, Ciara, you are an amazing mother who derives joy in taking care of her son, I know how much you care about Herzl and want the best for him, but just like your doctor stressed out, you are still in recovery and should be under careful supervision until it suitable for you".
She pause and stare deeply at me. "Mr. Ryan, I know that you made several mistakes in the past and see how much amends you want to make, so I am willing in favor of the custody of the child to his father!!"
The last word slide out of her mouth as I jumped up in excitement, finally letting my breathe out.
"But! Ms. Ciara is allowed to see and visit her son once in every week, so she can be close to him. " I turned around to stare at her and could see the tears that trickle down her cheeks which almost melted my heart.
After the court case, I arrived at her place to pick up Herzl accompanied by a cop just in case she resisted the court's order.
I rang the doorbell and she opened it, I could see her eyes were red and pale and I knew that she had been crying since she arrived back home.
"I have packed up his things" She spoke coldly and fell on one of couches while I stepped into the house.
Herzl was sitting at a corner, his hands folded and his mouth pouted out with a frown spread across his face.
"Hey big man! Ready to come with daddy and have lots of fun?"
"Yes, but not without mummy" he replied and Ryan froze right there, his eyes widened in shock and he drift closerto herzl.
His words were cold even for a child, and I could tell that he was badly hurting inside.
