CIARA
Getting home, the gate was opened by a new staff.
He was clad in my company's compound staff uniform, alerting me of the fact that my company must have fixed up some domestic staff for me, after being told by my PA that I was back from wherever I traveled to.
Well, she already knows where I went to, but the problem is just that she can't afford to say it to my face that I had returned from a rehab facility where aunt Elsie claimed I just returned from when she stuck her face to the camera and said her piece to end my career.
The driver pulled into my compound, and stopped a few meters into my compound. Maybe he doesn't want to be assured that the woman who boarded her carwas the same woman he saw her pictures online.
The one who was rumored to have been sick in the head.
I didn't wait for him to come open the door, for me, but before I could do that for myself and my son, the door got pulled open, and thus was my PA standing by the doorwith her head bowed low.
I knew what their visit meant.
They must have taken a whole lot of cleaners and a whole lot of interior decorators into my house, to fix it up to my taste, and make it a heaven for me to exist in.
I alighted from the car, with Herzl in my arms, and she took him from me without waiting to be permitted to lay a hand on him.
"Good morning, ma'am."
She was indeed doing a lot already.
She is the best PA in the planet. I would always beat my chest and say that.
"So, what's up here?" I posed with a smile on my face.
"We brought cleaners and internal decor^"
"I know what you are capable of, dear." I said, and touched his shoulder. There was no need for her to finish up her words.
I knew what she would do, and I really guessed right.
"Notjust that, ma'am."
I turned to her and gave her a say more wink.
"A man came by. He said he is an old friend of yours and he is here to see you." She said confidently, maybe because she knew I wouldn't shout at her if she reports that she allowed the man into my house, because she had my kid in her arm.
I narrowed my eyebrows.
It could be Damien. Maybe he was calling because he came by, orwas he calling before he came by?
I can't tell either.
"So?" I posed.
"He is waiting for you in the living room." She announced.
I guess that's the least I expected to hearfrom her. I thought she would be smarter than letting a stranger sit and wait for me in my living room.
"Does he have a name?" I posed.
I didn't want to get mad at her, though I could feel a drop of anger welling up my throat like a lump.
"He said his name is Damien, and he claimed he knew you so well." She said, making it clearto me that my thoughts were right.
"Stay with Herzl, I will go meet him in there." I just didn't want anyone to know I had stuff with Damien, and I don't want anyone to hear me out if I shun him or sound good to him, because I know nothing about his reason for coming by yet.
"Okay ma'am, she said and went over to the pool side with Herzl.
"Ma'am."
It was the driver. He wanted to remind me that I had not paid up my bill. I opened my purse, put my hand in it and pulled a few notes, and without counting, and gave them to him.
That's one of the little ways I give back to the society. He must not have made as much as I just handed him, today, but he deserves a good life, especially for the fact that this was the only time he would ever have me in his car.
My car would soon be here, and a driver would be fixed for me, so, the driver should just have as much as he could draw from for being patient.
I didn't stay back to watch him smile and heap a load of thanks on me. I had an important business inside, and that was exactly what I was going to meet head on.
There were cleaners at the balcony when I got to my house which was a few meters away from the gate side where the driver stopped the car.
"Good morning, ma'am." They all greeted in unison as though they had been learning and reciting how they would greet me in unison and wait for my response.
Well, that's the good thing that comes with being the boss, and remaining rich. Had it been in those days when I was broken and out of shape, they could have shunned me and ask me to keep off from the mansion.
I smiled at them, and walked into the house. My smile was enough for them, and I could tell they were really contented with the smile I shot them.
By the way, they were more of ladies, and they know what to expect to earn from a lady, and the sot of warm greeting a man would offer if I was male.
In the big living room, was Damien, sitting and peering into his phone. He had grown twice betterthan he ever was.
He seemed richer, and calmerthan before.
"Damien."
My voice stroke his ears and he looked up. He wasn't expecting I would return so soon, but here I am, standing before him.
"Oh, Ciara."
I could see the shock in his voice.
I'm not currently looking all good, because I lost weight in the rehab facility, and I had had a lot of bitterness recently, so, I shouldn't look as good as anyone would expect of me.
He stood up and advanced towards me, probably for a hug, and though I wanted to ask him to stop, I stood still, and let him have his way, but not in the good way.
My hands were folded, so, I was sure his chest didn't touch mine, if that was what he was up to.
"How are you, Ciara?"
His hands find theirway to my face, but trust me, I shrugged them off. He is my ex for heaven's sake, so, it would be quite decent if he would mind maintaining some distance here.
He knew exactly why I shrugged off his hands, so, I lowered them.
"I'm fine, as you can see, what about you?" I posed.
I had always dreamt to be the woman in charge in everything, but fate had been tossing me into the wrong paths, where I can't exercise the dominance, I dreamt of.
"I'm good."
"Do sit down, Damien."
He sat down and I did the same.
"So, how had life been so far?" he posed.
I guess he is the only ex in the world who would put such question for his rich ex-girlfriend who has literally everything at herdisposal and lacked entirely nothing for crying out loud.
I guess such queries as the one he just posed at me, are meant for poor desperate exes seen in rags, who wouldn't mind pleading to be towed back from the shit fate got them out of.
"Life had been good, with the stress of being wealthy and having a lot of staff'" I said, intending to make him understand that the least thing I ever do the good of thinking of is him.
Good lord, that's harsh though, but life made me harsh, I wasn't born a jezebel.
"Good sad news. Those things you said now make life difficult and stressful." He sniffed.
I shrank into the sofa, and kept mute, to have him explain what makes life good if being wealthy doesn't make it soft and good for mankind.
"When last did you hang out with some friends and family to chill and forget your sorrow?"
"What's that supposed to mean?" I gave him a query for a query.
He was taking a different dimension and I could sense it.
He stood up and came over to my sofa.
"I saw what your aunt said there in the media, and I knew at once that you need me. We've both made money. We can afford flying to Cocabanan, and play in the beach."
That was kind of good idea, but why should it be him?
Well, I'm having issues with Ryan, and I guess Ryan is winning, so, it's time to drop a nuke.
"And?" I posed, hoping he wouldn't sense he was just about getting himself into being used over a conflict.
"We can fly to Dubai, where I would feel good sucking your rich pu**y in the pool."
