Eero's perspective
"Oops," said one of the breeders. I looked straight into her eyes. I only came back to the breeder's house to go get some of my stuff, per the Alpha's command. I didn't intend to start a catfight with these she-wolves and so I kept my head down.
"Excuse me. I need to get into my room." I told them. Three weeks have passed since I got here and in the span of three weeks, the only things that I earned are Miss Cielo's warmth and affection and these women's hatred.
I could feel their anger towards me from miles away and since I saw the way they stared at me, I knew that they wouldn't hesitate to express how much they loathed me once the opportunity presented itself, and this was it. Right now was their long-awaited chance to talk to me.
"Please. I just need to get something from my room and I will leave immediately. I know that none of you like me."
"Exactly. None of us like you. Didn't you know that we established a little hierarchy within the breeder's house? And you should be at the bottom of it."
I breathed deeply and finally brought my head up to look at them more confidently.
"Whatever your issues with me. It's one-sided. I can't remember doing anything for all of you to gang up on me."
"This little bitch! Did the Alpha fuck your brain out of your body? Hence, you couldn't pick up a clue?"
I remained silent and just glared at their little group the whole time. If I could avoid it as much as I could, I still didn't want to fight with them.
"Is this why all of you collectively hate me? Because since I got here, even though all of you are his women and breeders, the Alpha never set his feet here to sleep with any of you except me?" I asked.
Emily, the one with blonde hair and blue eyes, gasped. She charged up front, but I instantly took a step back.
"Stop taking out your frustrations on me because the Alpha refuses to fuck all of you. It's not like I am asking him to ignore all of you."
Emily laughed. She pulled my arm and held it tightly, making me wince in pain, but I didn't back down and leveled the sharp gazes that she was flashing at me.
"Did you know that just before you got here, I was the Alpha's favorite breeder? But, look at me now. You are right. He never set his feet here to sleep with me again, and you know who is going to experience the same thing?"
Hearing that left me and my jaws slightly open.
"That's right. You. Once the Alpha gets bored and tired of you, he will once again have a pack under him to give him a new breeder."
I could not help but shake my head at her, shaking those words off my head.
"Ten pups, was it? Is that what he told you? He said the same thing to everyone in this house, but oh. After sleeping with us for a month or less, he stopped. You're no special, Eero. You'll suffer the same fate as us."
"And I'll hate the Alpha's new breeder when that time comes?" I whispered to myself. I rolled my eyes in midair.
"I shouldn't let Emily and her words get in my head. I am certain that she is just messing with me," I muttered to myself before I darted the knife on the porter steak that I was busily seasoning.
"That's it." I heard the Alpha. Upon turning to the spot where I heard his voice, I saw his hand.
"I've been standing in here for more than ten minutes, but you were busy buzzing like a bee and being annoyed that you didn't even notice." I bit my lower lip.
"I said, take my hand, Eero."
"Where are you going to take me?" I asked him, but Alpha Claudius grabbed my hand himself, and before I even knew it, we were now in the middle of a dark forest, with thousands of fireflies surrounding us.
"They are beautiful, Alpha," I said as one of those fireflies landed on my finger.
"Will you tell me about why you were in a bad mood?"
"No. Just this time... can you please let me keep this to myself, Alpha? Just this once," I begged.
I felt his hand on my neck. I closed my eyes because I already knew what was going to happen, but I didn't feel his lips against mine. Instead, the Alpha pulled me behind me.
It's dark out here. I could barely see anything, and if it weren't for those fireflies. I was convinced that the middle of the forest would be pitch black.
All that I could hear was fighting noises, and then I felt him throw something at the figure of a man running towards us. It was his knife that landed straight on our attacker's forehead.
"Oh, God. Thank you. Thank you for saving me. I owe my life to you." Hearing that voice of a man caught me surprised. I couldn't be wrong. Even when I could barely see his face, I knew who this was.
It's Cohen.
Why was he out here fighting some rogues?
"Eero, is that you? I know that it's you. P-Please save me. Help me." I could feel the Alpha staring at me. He realized later that the man he saved from the rogues was my mate.
I pulled the Alpha's hand, urging him to leave with me after I turned my back against Cohen, and then I heard him sob.
"Eero, please. You are the only one who can help me now. I-I need you to know."
"I don't care, Cohen. I don't know what happened to you, but I guess you deserve it." I tried to pull the Alpha to leave with me the second time around when Cohen spoke again.
"Help me, and I'll tell you a big secret that you must know, for it will answer all the questions that you used to ask yourself."
