Eero’s perspective
“I am not the only one that Ameo wronged, but my parents too. He stole the ruling right from my father. They framed him up that got him killed,” I whispered to myself, chanting it even, so it would etch in my mind, and I'd forever remember this.
There would be no second chance for us and the Valerian. Right from now, all of them were my sworn enemies.
I hadn't met my parents and I didn't even know what they look like. But hearing what happened to them from the mouths of the same people who had betrayed them made my blood boil.
I licked my lower lip. Although I was still feeling the pain from all the beating that I got earlier, I bore it.
“I need to make it out of this pack tonight. I must find my way back to the Blood Moon Pack and tell Alpha Claudius what I found out.”
I went to the door and tried to open it, not expecting that it would open. I thought that, just like earlier, they would lock it outside. But Ameo and the mistress of evil were busy fighting with each other that they forgot to lock it up.
My heart stopped beating as I did the last pull to open the door wide enough for me to fit through.
All the lights inside the pack house were turned off already. There were no signs of people downstairs. If I can quietly make it out of the border of the Moon River's Pack territory, then I would be alright.
Walking down the stairs on tiptoe, I was holding my breath with each step, for fear that someone might suddenly show up and my plan to escape busted.
I could feel my heart thumping both in excitement and anxiety after I reached the front door with no one getting in the way and stopping me.
I closed my eyes and immediately looked back at the stairs, just to make sure that no one was there after I opened the door. It created a small noise that made me panic for a few seconds, but thank the Moon Goddess, I managed to make it out of the main house.
“Now, I just need to take the longer route towards the end of the border, then I'll be fine,” I whispered to myself.
I breathed deeply and slowly extracted the air out of my chest.
“You can make it out of here, Eero! You must succeed! This is your only chance. Your life depends on here,” I added.
I didn't like the duty of patrolling along the borders in the past. I even hated it, but I didn't dare to tell Ameo and Vera about it.
Now, thanks to that duty. I knew our territory like the back of my hands. I knew which route to take and which one to avoid.
I was just a mile away from the end of the border when I heard a distinct footstep. The whiff of his scent made me stop too.
“Shit!” I mumbled to myself. I knew that I couldn't outrun Trevor even if I tried to, and the only option now was to face him.
“I’m sure you shouldn't be out here wandering along the border of our territory at midnight. You should be locked up in your room, right?”
“Trevor, please... You've already chosen not to do a bad thing to me earlier. Let me go. I promise to repay you for your kindness.”
He placed his chin on top of his palm, his fingers tapping against his cheek.
“A wonderful offer. It seems that I couldn’t resist it,” he said. That brought out a spark of hope in me.
I wasted no time and turned my back against him. But before I could start to run, Trevor was already standing in front of me.
“Not so fast, Missy. Your offer is something that I wouldn't be able to turn down if I am not loyal to Moon Rivers.”
I took a step back as he started to charge towards me.
“But the thing is I am loyal to my pack.” After finishing his words, Trevor took a full spin, and then he launched a high kick that hit the side of my chest.
The impact was strong enough to launch me into midair. I felt my back hit the tree before I fell to the ground.
I spat out a small amount of blood from my mouth.
“You know what I want to do to you now?” He asked.
Suddenly, I saw a firefly in the form of a wolf next to me. It was shining brightly that Trevor turned his head to look at it.
When the wolf-shaped firefly ran towards Trevor and me, it spooked Trevor so much that he fell to the ground.
Then thousands of fireflies swarmed over, wrapping themselves around me and lifting me in midair for a moment. Then they helped me back on my feet.
Similarly to how they magically appeared, those fireflies vanished within a blink of an eye, and I felt stronger than ever.
I felt seething anger, and I wasn't able to control my beastly instinct.
I grabbed a rock from the ground and walked towards Trevor, who was already crawling away from me.
All I could see was red and all I craved for was violence. I smashed his head with the rock in my hand, and did it over and over again.
I smashed Trevor to death. His blood was all over my hand and in my face when I snapped back to reality and realized what I had just done.
I dropped the rock near his body, shaking in fear. I ran as fast as I can away from the territory, until a pair of arms caught me. That made me shout in fear. I thought someone from the Moon Rivers finally caught up with me, but when I looked up…
It was Claudius' face that I saw.
I showed him my hand tainted by Trevor's blood.
A tear escaped from my eyes.
“I-I killed s-someone, A-Alpha. I-I don't even know how I did it, but he is dead. T-Trevor is dead.”
