Caspian’s perspective
"How is she? How long will it take for her to gain some of her strength back and wake up?" I asked Claudius. He tore his eyes off his breeder and pasted it to me.
"Tomorrow morning is the earliest. Their Doctor is not sure, but I bet it won't be too long, I hope."
I nodded my head at Alpha Claudius. If I was estimating it right. He's been looking after her for more than five hours now, never leaving her side.
I looked at Eero. She looks peaceful while she is lying on that bed, but every so often her eyebrow would not against each other, and she will groan in pain. Every time she does, Claudius starts to panic, even when he was told beforehand that something like this will happen.
"A-Alpha," she called with her eyes still closed. Alpha Claudius leaned closer to her. He even held her hand. I couldn't help it but pop a smile on my lips.
"Stop smiling," he said. My eyes widened. I am certain that his eyes were on her, so I couldn't figure out when he saw me smiling in his direction.
I raised my hand in midair and shook my head.
"If I didn't know, I would think that Eero is a mate of yours and not just your breeder. Since when did you become this thoughtful and caring to someone?" I teased him.
When I saw his head slowly tilting in my direction, I closed my mouth and stood up straight.
I cleared my throat, redeeming myself and being more serious than ever.
"We should go. I don't feel comfortable spending a night in this pack. You saw Ameo. He looked like the type that would betray us once the opportunity presents itself."
Alpha Claudius stood up from sitting on the corner of the bed to face me.
"We can't leave her here."
"I never said that we will leave her here. Of course, we will take her with us." I paused and looked for more suitable words to use as we go on in this conversation.
"Our pack is a five hour drive away from Moon Rivers. Eero is in a critical condition. She needs to be comfortable all the time."
"Please, don't take this personally. I know that she is pretty, drop-dead gorgeous, even... but what's the deal with her?"
"What do you mean?"
"Why do you act like that towards her? This is so unlike you, Alpha. You are vicious, almost like you've got no heart and soul."
"What are you trying to imply?"
"Nothing. I just want to know. What is she to you?"
"A breeder. The future mother of my pups. The one who will help me ascend to the throne as an Alpha King-"
"Someone you are starting to be romantically involved with?" I said, adding it to all the descriptions that left his lips earlier.
I grinned and pointed at the door to him.
"You want me out of the room?" I asked, just to be sure.
"Oh, no. You can stay. You are welcome to stay if you no longer want to live because you are getting on my nerves and God knows what I can do to you."
"A-Alpha?" A familiar soft voice called him. The Alpha immediately twisted his head towards the bed where Eero is laying.
"What are you doing here? The two of you," she said, pertaining to the Alpha and me too. I caught Claudius stealing a glance from me.
"I would love to keep you company, but I am starving. I might as well leave you two alone to have some moment? I bet you need that." Alpha Claudius cleared his throat.
"My best friend was worried sick of you, Eero. He deserves a hug and more than that."
"Caspian, can you walk yourself out of the room, or you want me to kick you myself?" He asked, and that was my cue to open the door and be gone from their eyesight.
Alpha Ameo and his wife told us to feel at home. They even toured me around the main house earlier, so I know where their kitchen is and to that is where I am headed.
"Fuck!" I cussed under my breath after Serra popped behind the refrigerator's door after I closed it.
"Jesus Christ! I almost dropped my beer. You spook me," I said, and even rolled my eyes at her in a manly manner. I slightly shook my head as I couldn't stand her presence, knowing all the evil things that she did to Eero.
I was about to walk pass her when she stopped me by holding my arm. I glared at her finger, but she didn't get what I was trying to hint to her.
"Let go of me." I told her in a low and calm voice, but I am confident that she can clearly hear how annoyed I was with her.
"Can't you feel it too?" Serra asked me.
"Feel what?" I asked and was about to pull my arm from her hold of me when I felt a tingling feeling inside of me. My pupils dilated and when she realized that I already knew what it is that she was talking about. Serra playfully smirked at me.
"So, you finally felt it too. An Alpha proposed to me, but now that I found my mate. It doesn't matter that you're just a beta. I'd still choose you over Leo."
Serra took a step closer to me, biting her lower lip while she was eyeing me flirtatiously. Her finger trailed my biceps.
"My bed is way bigger for me. I wouldn't mind sharing it with you. What do you say?"
I breathe deeply and look at her.
"Serra, I..."
"I know that our bond doesn't feel too intense right at the moment, but we can probably do something about it. Spend the night with me," she said.
"Yes. I want to do something about it indeed, Serra."
"Exactly what I thought."
"I wish to end it."
