Eero’s perspective
Luna Vera playfully moved her eyebrow in excitement as she waited for me to say something to her, but her offer hasn't sunk on my head yet, and I am still processing it.
“What do you think? I know that we are not exactly the perfect parents for you, but trust me, dear. Your father and I loved you.”
Luna Vera held my hand to further add sincerity in her first appeal, but I can see through her. I know that she wants something from me in return.
A familiar clacking of heels against the wooden floor of our kitchen made me turn to the arc door, the entrance, and exit of this part of the main house.
My eyes were quick to notice that the dress Serra was wearing was the one I gifted to her on her birthday last year.
“Sweetie, where did you get that dress? It looks good on you. It was my first time seeing that one.” Luna Vera commented that made me smile sarcastically. Now I am more curious to find out what it is that they want from me that they would do all of this just to woo me, but I know better than believe in this fake facade of these two.
Serra smiled. She ran her head against the silk material of the baby pink dress that I made myself, which she called cheap and ugly when she first saw it.
“It's a gift, Mommy.”
“Really? From whom? Whoever gave that to you has an exquisite style and taste in fashion. You look elegant.”
“Eero gave this to me last year. It fits me so well, doesn't it?”
I put the cup of coffee in my hand back on the table with a thud.
Poking the insides of my cheeks with my tongue, I breathed deeply and nodded my head to encourage them to utter their agenda.
“What do you want from me?” I asked.
“Mom and Dad want you to stay with us here. Dad is willing to compromise anything if that what it takes for Alpha Claudius to let go of you.”
“We can even give them one more breeder, if they badly need one—”
“This is the last time that I am going to ask you this, so you better tell me now. What is it that you want from me?”
When I saw Serra rolling her eyes in midair, I fully smirked at the two of them.
I was right. This is all acts.
“I told you that it won't work for her, Mom. You and Dad should have believed me in the first place.”
The warmth of the motherly smile that Luna Vera was wearing earlier vanished. She is back to her cold and wicked demeanor towards me.
“We need you in here. If a whole pack gets an advantage because of your special ability, then might as well be the pack that raised you. Our pack.”
I looked down on the floor and started to laugh. I was right. Someone was in fact standing at the door of my room last night, and that someone saw everything that happened.
Staring at Serra, who snitched the info to her parents, I licked my lower lip before I looked up at them.
“The Alpha doesn't need to compromise anything in exchange for making me stay in here.”
“Very well. You are quick to judge, Serra. Eero is our family. She will always choose us over anything—”
“There is nothing anyone of you can offer that will make me stay here,” I said, finishing what I was saying and cutting her off.
“Thank you for the coffee, Luna Vera, but after we leave here, I am certain that it would be the last time that I will see any of you.”
Luna Vera grabbed my arm, and then she forcefully turned me to face her again.
“I can't believe that you are this sly and shameless. You are just an Alpha's breeder, but here you are, acting so high and mighty!”
“She is probably hoping that one day Alpha Claudius will make her his Luna, instead of just a cheap and dirty whore and breeder,” Serra said, insulting me was her expertise ever since.
I pushed the Luna away from me and thanks to Serra who caught her mother. She didn't fall on the floor.
“Given the special ability that I was granted with, I think I do have a right to act mighty and high. I am a healer, and that makes me so damn special.” I looked at Serra in particular.
“Luna Vera, you said that the Alpha Ameo was willing to do anything if that means I'll stay and be useful to his pack.” I paused for a moment and grinned mischievously.
“What if I asked him to exile you and your daughter? I will allow him to use my ability to his advantage. Do you think he will do that?” I asked.
“Oh my God! She finally lost her mind. I am his wife, his mate, and Serra is his only daughter. Did you really think that he will choose you? Over us, his family?”
I pouted my lips and shrugged my shoulder, “Actually, I am not sure, but since the Alpha is here. We should ask him.”
Their eyes widened. Right at the moment, I noticed that they were scared that the Alpha who always prioritized them would finally turn their back on them and choose me instead.
“Alpha Ameo, are you willing to sacrifice your family for me? I promised that my ability will never fail you. I will help you conquer every territory and make all Alphas bend their knees to you.”
Alpha Ameo looked at his wife and daughter and then back to me.
“I-Is that really what you want?”
“Ameo!” Luna Vera called with a horrified voice that made me laugh at her reaction.
“You can't do that to us!” I looked at the poor Luna and gave her an assuring smile.
“Oh, don't worry. He won't do that, I was just messing with you. Even if she exiled you and Serra, that won't be enough to make me stay.”
