Eero’s perspective
Three hundred warriors and deltas stood behind us, waiting for Claudius' trained mage to break the barrier that hid the boarders of the Moon River Pack.
I only had one thing in my mind: I came for Vera's head. This night wouldn't end with her still breathing.
"I can feel your rage, Eero. My wolf is alerting me because of it," he said.
"I would prefer it if you stay away from me, Claudius. Unlike you, I’m not very good at controlling my wolf yet." I didn't tear my eyes off the mage who was performing her spells.
In the corner of my eyes, I saw him nodding his head.
"I know, as you evolve into a powerful wolf gradually, there's a high chance that you'll slay everyone in sight if your wolf is taking over your body," he said. Alpha Claudius darted his eyes back at the mage and, stopped from talking.
The invisible barriers lit up before it faded into a strong whirlwind, which knocked almost everyone out, except for me. I was just confused about what was happening.
"A-Alpha, are you okay?" I asked Claudius and lent out my hand to help him stand up.
He nodded at me. But soon his eyes stared at me in an unusual way.
"Burn every house at sight. Spare children and women. Make their men bow and bend their knee. Kill everyone who goes against this order... leave their Alpha to me," Claudius said to hundreds of men behind us before we charged towards Moon River pack.
Screams, pleas for help and sounds of burning homes were all that I could hear.
Charging towards Alpha Ameo's house, I felt a familiar presence running towards me, my wolf growling. I twisted the arm of the hand that held me, breaking the lycan's arm and pushing her away from me. She flew and hit her head against a big rock.
The rage in me softened after I saw the lycan's face.
"Meredith!" I exclaimed, calling the name of my best friend's mother. My heart had skipped a beat.
I held her head in my lap, her blood staining my clothes.
"M-Meredith, I’m so sorry. I didn't know that it was you. I-I would never hurt you if only I knew," I said to her.
Her blood ran profusely from the wound of her head.
"I-I can't find Soleil anywhere. G-Go look for my daughter. A-Ask your Alpha to spare her. B-Bring her to safety w-with you," she stammered.
"Meredith, I-I will. I made sure that Soleil and you will be left unharmed." Beads of tears rolled down my cheeks as the only mother figure that I had in this pack closed her eyes.
"Meredith? M-Meredith, no!" I yelled, shaking her shoulder in an attempt to wake her up.
Rage rose within me, clouding my mind as I picked up a scent.
"Serra," my wolf growled and with her near me, my wolf disregarded Meredith and came straight for Serra.
"Stay away from me, Eero! Leave me alone!" Serra shouted as she continued to run from me.
I was moving faster than her. In no time, I was standing in front of her. In the middle of the same forest where I was caught and cornered by Trevor, Serra and I stood. Only this time, I was not the one running away.
"What do you want from me? L-Leave me alone! L-Let me go, Eero please," she stuttered.
"It’s satisfying to hear you beg for me." Serra tried to escape, but tripped over a tree branch and landed straight on the ground.
"Where is your mother? I might consider letting go of you if you tell me where she is-"
"S-She fled with daddy. T-They left me behind," she said, moving her legs to crawl away from me, but I cut through our distance with just one step every single time she moved.
"I am telling the truth!"
"I know, Serra."
"Will you let go of me now? I promise to vanish myself. You will never see me again." She sighed out of relief before standing up, preparing herself to run away. But before she could turn her back, I held her arm.
"What are you doing? Let go of me now!! I already told you everything that you need!" She started crying, real tears rolling down her cheers, fears spiraling down her whole body. "I told you the truth-"
"I know, but that is not the case for me." With just a pair of deltas a few steps away from us, I pushed her towards them. They quickly held her arm. Escaping was impossible for Serra.
"Y-You can't do this to me, Eero! I’m the future Alpha of this pack! You will regret crossing me," she shouted, which made me turn back to her.
Holding her jaw, I made sure that her eyes were level with mine.
"It's the other way around. You’ll regret crossing me before. And this pack that you're about to rule in the future..." I guided her head to see the burning house of the Alpha.
"It’s nothing but ashes. This pack was supposed to be mine. Your father stole it from my father," I said before I let go of her jaw.
"Lock her in the dungeon. I’ll deal with her later," I said to the deltas.
"Claudius." He walked towards me, his eyes checking for possible bruises I could get.
"I already have Serra, but Ameo and Vera had escaped."
"I’d figured that out earlier. We will still look for them, though." His eyes stilled on the bloodstains on my clothes.
"It's a delta from the Moon River that I killed," I lied, for I couldn't tell him that I had accidentally killed Soleil's mother.
"Soleil is with Caspian. You should go see her now, but Meredith…she was already dead when we found her."
