Eliza’s POV
As I woke up, I felt refreshed and excited to start my new life in the royal family. I got dressed in the elegant clothes laid out for me and made my way to the royal dining hall. As I entered the grand room, I was greeted by the warm aroma of freshly baked pastries and the soft murmur of conversations.
Alex was already seated at the table, looking dashing in his royal attire. He smiled as he saw me and stood up to greet me. "Good morning, sis," he said, his eyes sparkling warmly. "I'm glad you're feeling better after yesterday's journey."
I sat beside him, feeling a sense of comfort and belonging with my new brother. The dining hall was filled with servants and guards, all busy preparing breakfast and ensuring everything was perfect for the royal family.
As we sat down, a servant brought over a tray laden with an array of delicious dishes: golden-brown eggs, crispy bacon, fresh fruit, and steaming hot tea. My eyes widened as I took in the spread before me and my tummy rumbled loudly.
"Help yourself," Alex said, gesturing to the food. "You must be starving." he said with a mouthful of food.
“Yes. Thank you.” I dug in, savouring the flavours and textures of the dishes. I had never tasted anything so delicious before.
The King joined us shortly, smiling warmly as he took his seat. He watched us for a few moments before speaking.
“Good morning, my children. Eliza and Alex," the King said, his voice kind and gentle. "I hope you're enjoying your first day in the castle, my dear."
I nodded, feeling a sense of thankfulness towards my new family. "I am, thank you," I said. "It's all been a bit overwhelming, but Alex has been a great help and everyone is welcoming and friendly.”
“I'm glad to hear it.” He gave Alex a nod of approval and Alex winked at me as he collected his second helping of food.
As we quickly finished breakfast, Alex suggested we both walk in the gardens. The weather was warm and sunny, perfect for a stroll outside. I agreed, feeling grateful for the opportunity to get some fresh air and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
As we walked, we saw a group of children playing in the gardens. They were laughing and chasing each other around, completely carefree. I watched them with a smile on my face.
Alex noticed my gaze and smiled. "You miss it, don't you?" he asked softly. “Being so small and innocent. The best years of life are when we are young and not a care in the world.”
I slowly nodded. "Yes, I do," she said. “Not that I had much of a childhood. It wasn't the best for me, and I dislike talking about it."
Alex put his hand on my shoulder. "You'll get there in the end," he said. "You'll learn to trust us and find your happiness. I promise. It's my job to look after you, sis.”
As we continued our walk, I couldn't believe I had found a brother who cared for me deeply, a family who wanted to help me heal, and a chance to start anew.
“Let's head back. I have a few things to do before my training begins this afternoon.” Alex informed me, and I followed him as we returned up the never-ending steps.
As we entered the castle again, I felt excitement at the unknown. Our father was standing in the doorway as if waiting for our return. Beside him stood two guys who had not been introduced to yet. Both of them were observing me. I couldn't tell what they were thinking as their expressions were blank.
“Ah, there she is. Eliza, this is Alfred and Bernard. They are going to be your bodyguards. Where you go, they will not be far behind.” my father explained as I looked up in surprise. I stared at the two males and frowned. “Bodyguards, but why? I can look after myself.” I questioned, trying not to sound like a brat.
"Eliza, you are now a part of this royal family. You are a princess, and as such, you require protection. The kingdom's security is at stake, and we cannot take any risks with your safety." he explained firmly. I couldn't feel Jasmine surfacing, so that told me she knew our place here in this kingdom, but I didn't want to give in so easily.
I felt a flush rise to my cheeks as I protested. "But I don't want to be protected. I want to live without being watched over like a child. My Wolf and I can handle anything and anyone.”
His expression turned stern. "Eliza, I know you are not a child. You are a princess, and we must ensure your safety. You must adapt to this new life and learn to trust us to keep you safe. You must obey my order.”
I felt a sense of resentment rising inside her. She didn't want to be treated like a fragile doll, protected and coddled by her father and his men. She wanted to be able to live her own life, make her own decisions, and face her challenges.
But looking at the two men standing before her, I knew I couldn't argue with my father's logic. I was a princess now, responsible to the kingdom to stay safe.
"Fine. Okay, I understand," I said, my voice was barely above a whisper.
My father smiled, relief washing over his face. "Good," he said. "I knew you would understand. Alfred and Bernard will always be with you, so you will never be alone.” he gave me a quick Pat on the back and turned his attention to Alex, who had been silent the whole conversation between me and our father. He seemed amused by my stubbornness.
“Now, Alex. We must have everything ready in plenty of time for the annual ball next week.”
“Certainly, Father.” Alex nodded in agreement. “No problem at all.”
Annual ball?
I recalled hearing the quads and Daniella talking about these Royal balls before. However, As an omega then, it wasn't something I could ever experience. I wanted to know more about this ball, but my father and brother seemed deep in conversation.
“Tell me. Who is coming to this annual ball?” I asked, turning to Alfred and Bernard.
They exchanged glances. “All the packs, of course. Their Luna and alphas mostly.” Bernard shrugged like it was no big deal.
“Ok, and what about Creek pack?” I almost whispered the words. Alfred nodded. “Yes, that would be correct, Princess.”
