Daniella’s POV
I had been waiting hours for Alpha Morgan, Luna Lara and the quadruplets to return, but there was still no sign of them the following day after the King's ball was over. I couldn't wait to see them and start discussing my upcoming ceremony to be taken as their chosen mate.
Tricia kept assuring me that everything would be ok and I shouldn't worry. My parents had no idea what was happening either. Nobody had any answers. My parents and most of the pack were out on the training grounds. I was tired of waiting and I decided to go and find Grayson, since he would know something at least.
Knocking on the door of Alpha Morgan's study, I pushed it open and saw Grayson engrossed in whatever paperwork he was busy looking at.
“Grayson, can I have a word with you, please? I'm worried about your parents and your brothers. Where are they?” I sat in front of him and waited for him to answer me.
Grayson looked up and sneered at the sight of me. I thought how rude and arrogant he was without his parents around. “What makes you think my parents are coming back?” he grunted and I rolled my eyes. He was being childish. Of course they would be coming back. I assumed that Grayson was in a mood since his parents and his brothers hadn't taken him along to the ball yesterday.
“What is your issue?” I grumbled, crossing my arms over my chest as he shook his head and laughed. “Why do you have such an attitude towards me? We used to be good friends?” I wondered why he had changed towards me.
“Do you think that you're important enough to question me?” he stood up and came in front of me, grabbing me by the throat so I could barely breathe.
“You're hurting me, Grayson. Get off me.” I tried to struggle, but his grip was like a vice. Panic set in as I felt my airway constricting. I tried to scream, but my voice was muffled. I was trapped, unable to move or breathe.
I glared up at Grayson, my eyes burning with anger and fear. "Let me go," I hissed, trying to sound defiant despite the lack of oxygen.
But Grayson just laughed, his eyes gleaming with sadistic pleasure. "You're not important enough to be worth hurting," he sneered. "You're just a mere beta, after all. Look at you, walking around here like you are the queen. I would never accept you as the future Luna of Creek.”
I tried to kick out at him, but he was too strong. He pinned me against the wall, his grip on my throat tightening further.
I tried to think of a plan, but my brain was foggy from the lack of oxygen. I reached out with my mind, trying to connect with the pack, hoping someone would hear my distress call. But it was like screaming into a void - no one came.
Grayson's eyes glinted viciously as he leaned in closer to me. "You'll never be the alpha's mate, Daniella. You're just a pawn in their game, a plaything to be used and discarded. And I'll make sure that never happens."
He finally let me go, and I fell to the floor, gasping for breath; my heart was racing with fear. What was going on? What did Grayson think he was doing treating me like that?
"You're not making any sense, Grayson," I said when I finally caught my breath. "What do you want from me?"
Grayson's smile twisted into a cruel grin. "I want to be the alpha, Daniella. And I'll do whatever it takes to get there. “So get used to the fact that you are not going to be Luna of this pack.”
I felt a shiver run down my spine as I realised what Grayson was saying. He was planning to take over the pack, and he was willing to do whatever it took to get there.
"But what about the quadruplets?" I asked, feeling a surge of panic. "They're the next in line for the alpha position, right?"
Grayson's laughter sent chills down my spine. "Oh, yes. The quadruplets are next in line—my dear brothers, who are so intent on a stupid white wolf. But I'll make sure they don't make it. And when they're gone, I'll be the only one left standing."
I felt trapped in a nightmare with no way out. Grayson's words were filled with malice and hatred, and I knew he would stop at nothing to achieve his goal.
I knew I had to get out of there to escape Grayson's clutches and find help before it was too late. But as I turned to leave, Grayon's hand shot out and grasped my arm, holding me back.
“You're not going anywhere.” He growled, and I hesitated when I saw his wolf was pushing forth.
“Grayson, please listen to me.” I tried to reason with him.
"You're not going anywhere," he repeated, his voice low and menacing. "You'll stay here and help me with my plan."
Grayson's grip on my arm was like a vice, and I couldn't escape. I looked up at him, trying to see any sign of humanity in his eyes. But there was nothing there. Just a cold, calculating gaze.
"You're going to do what I say," he hissed, his breath hot against my ear. "And you're going to do it now. If you refuse, then I will kill you myself. You weak bitch.”
I nodded, trying to appease him. "Okay, Grayson," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "What do you want me to do?"
Grayson's smile twisted into a cruel grin. "I want you to help me take out those stupid quadruplets," he said, his eyes glinting with malice. "And then, I'll be the only one left standing. All my life, I have had to live in their shadow. Like I don't exist. It's time I was noticed and given the respect I deserve.”
I felt a cold dread creeping up my spine as I realised what Grayson planned to do. He would kill the quadruplets and then take over the pack himself.
But I knew that I couldn't let that happen. I had to find a way to stop him, no matter what it took. And so, I nodded again, pretending to agree with his plan.
"Okay, Grayson," I said, trying to sound convincing. "I'll help you."
