Eliza's POV
My brother shook his head and shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know what to think; let's go find Father and talk to him." He suggested, and I hesitated. What if he shoved me into my bedroom again and punished Alex for letting me out? Alex sensed my concerns and placed a hand on my shoulder.
"It will be ok, little sister. I promise. I am here with you now, and I won't let anything or anyone hurt you. Father is just afraid that he will lose you again. He has been much happier since you came back into our lives. I know that better than anyone else around here." Alex reassured me, and I couldn't help but smile despite the worries that clouded my mind.
As I stood there, my mind racing with the uncertainty of what lay ahead, I felt Alex's reassuring hand on my shoulder. His words were like a warm blanket wrapping around me, calming my fears and doubts. I looked up at him, my eyes searching for any sign of deception, but all I saw was genuine concern and kindness. My brother's suggestion to talk to Father had planted a seed of doubt in my mind, and Alex's words only added to the confusion.
As we walked towards Father's study, my heart pounded. What would happen when we confronted him? Would he lash out at me again, or would he finally open up and explain his feelings? The uncertainty was suffocating, but with Alex's hand still on my shoulder, I felt a glimmer of hope that we might finally find some answers.
He walked up the corridor just as we were about to enter his study. He looked surprised to see us there but did not question why I was no longer locked away in my bedroom where he had left me.
"What do you want?" Father asked, his tone growing colder.
Alex took a step forward, his eyes locked on Father's. "We came to talk to you about Eliza. We're concerned about your behaviour towards her."
Father snorted. "Concerned? Are you concerned about my behaviour? You should be grateful. I'm trying to ensure nobody hurts her again. She is my daughter.”
I felt angry at his words, but Alex's grip on my shoulder kept me grounded.
"Grateful?" Alex repeated. “Because you're trying to keep her locked away?"
Father's face darkened, and for a moment, I thought he might lunge at us. But then he seemed to compose himself, his mask slipping back into place.
"I'm just trying to protect her," he said, his voice dripping sincerely.
I felt a pang of doubt. Was that true? Or was he trying to justify his fears and insecurities?
“But, father what about the quadruplets? You let them go and what about the Luna and her alpha? What will become of them?”
Suddenly, our father stood up and took my arm. I turned to Alex and pleaded with him to stop Father.
“Come with me. Let me explain something to you,” he growled. And I had to run to catch up with him practically.
“Where are we going?” I dared to ask. I wished Jasmine would give me some reassurance. My Wolf seemed to hide from me since I wholly rejected my alpha quadruplet mates.
“You wait there.” my father demanded of Alex, who decided it best not to piss him off further.
I followed my father down the long staircase, my heart racing every step. I could smell the stench of decay and mould. I tried to pull away from him, but he held me firm, his grip like a vice.
“Just come with me. I have something to show you.” I wondered what he was talking about.
His tone seemed slightly calmer. As we descended further, the darkness seemed to swallow us whole. I stumbled on the last few steps, and my father's hand tightened around my arm, pulling me up again.
We finally reached the bottom of the staircase, and I saw that we were in a dimly lit corridor. The walls were cold and damp, and the air smelled heavy with mould and rot. I could hear the sound of dripping water echoing through the corridor, and my heart pounded in my chest.
I knew where we were. This was the cell block. My father had brought me here of all places.
But why?
As we walked down the corridor, I saw guards standing outside each cell, their faces expressionless. My father stopped outside one door, and I heard the sound of keys jingling as he unlocked it.
The door creaked open, and I saw a figure sitting on a cot in the corner of the cell.
I felt a jolt of surprise as I realised who it was.
Alpha Morgan?
"Eliza," he whispered, confused, and he looked awful. I had never seen him look so rough before.
“Alpha Morgan?” I raised an eyebrow, wondering why I was standing in front of him. What was my father trying to achieve?
My father pushed me forward, and I felt like I was moving through a nightmare. "Go to him", he growled.
I hesitated, unsure of what to do. “But why?”
“Stand in front of him.” my father barked at me. Alpha Morgan looked even more confused.
“What is this about, your Majesty? Haven't you done enough damage already?” he sneered in disgust at my father, who roared so loudly I thought I would end up deaf.
“I want you to see what belongs to me. The girl you chose to keep from me, the girl you allowed to be abused by your children, oh, sorry. Expect only four of them are yours.” he taunted Alpha Morgan.
“What? What are you saying this for?” It took me a few moments to process what my father was saying. Grayson was not the son of Alpha Morgan?
