Love Me, Or Reject Me

Chapter 62 Goodbye, Freya

Ch. 62 / 120 Dec 11, 2024

Kingsley's POV

Standing in Luna Plaza, I gazed at the statue of Moon God before me, and memories of Freya flooded my mind.

Her disappointment - "What was I thinking? Expecting anything from you?"

Her stubbornness - "Let's see if I can thrive after leaving you."

The way she looked as she moaned my name in the high pitch of her orgasm. "Kingsley."

Her indifference - "You don't need to explain anything, Kingsley. I only believe what I see."

Her mischievousness when she put on a gown to purposely lure me out of control - "Like what you see?"

Her anger - "I was never exclusively yours, and I don't desire someone who desires another."

Her desperation - "Kingsley, I, Freya, of the Dark Moon Pack, hereby reject you as my mate, Kingsley Wright, from the Shadowmoon Pack."

...

I closed my eyes, my heart aching, and my wolf let out a guttural whimper of sadness.

After a long pause, I opened my eyes and gazed at the statue of Moon God, whispering in my most reverent tone, "She has rejected me and lost her child. Does the bond between us still exist? Moon God, would she be happy if she saw me again?"

If Freya had never met me, she might have found a partner who truly loved her and wouldn't have shed tears over a selfish asshole like me.

"Freya, I'm sorry," I said gently in my heart.

Glancing at my watch, I saw it was ten minutes before the appointed time.

"Sir, do you need flowers?"

I lowered my head to see a cute werewolf girl looking up at me with a basket of beautiful flowers in her hand.

"Sir, you must be waiting for your mate. Buy a flower to give her later; I think your mate will be very happy."

I shook my head and said, "No, I am waiting for someone, but that person is no longer my mate."

My heart suddenly ached at the words, and my wolf let out an aggrieved whimper, as if blaming me for losing his mate.

"Oh, I know," the little werewolf girl's childishly cute voice rang out. "You must have upset your mate. Every flower I have here has received the blessing of the Moon God. With the Moon God's blessing, your mate will definitely forgive you."

"Thank you, but I don't believe any of these blessings can compensate for the damage I've caused to her. I want to do something to make amends, but I'm unsure about what I should do."

"That's alright, sir. You can sincerely apologize like my mother advised me. Sincere apologies are often forgiven."

As I looked into the innocent eyes of the young werewolf girl, I managed a bitter smile. "But I don't think she really wants to see me."

The young werewolf girl gazed at me, then lowered her head and retrieved a bouquet of flowers from her basket.

"Sir, this flower is for you. Its language is courage, so cheer up! I believe that since the Moon God arranged for you to meet again in her presence, it must be because the Moon God wants to give you a chance to make amends. Regardless of your decision, I think the Moon God will bless you both."

The young werewolf girl flashed an adorable encouraging gesture and then departed. I stared down at the flowers in my hands, lost in thought.

Before long, a familiar figure hurried to the front of the Moon God statue, and I recognized her as Freya.

She was dressed in an elegant beige and white suit, as beautiful as ever. She appeared a bit anxious, scanning her surroundings. I soon noticed the young werewolf girl approaching her, just as I had instructed, and handing her a letter I had written while hiding in a corner.

In the letter, I began by apologizing to her and explaining that I had to leave temporarily. I adopted the tone of the mysterious buyer and told Freya that the Moon God's enigmatic interventions sometimes made our memories more precious.

In the distance, I observed Freya gesturing as if to inquire about something with the young werewolf girl.

With a smile, I whispered to myself, "Knowing your inquisitive nature, you're probably asking her what I look like right now. But this time, it's truly farewell, Freya."

Leaving the plaza, I pulled out my phone and dialed my friend Jeremy.

"Jeremy, I'm headed back this afternoon. Catching the 5 p.m. flight."

Abruptly, I heard a familiar voice from behind.

"Hey, stop! Why are you following me like this? You creep! Freeze right there! Don't think I won't recognize you just because I'm seeing your back! You're the one who stalked me that night!"

I turned around, and to my surprise, it was Freya. She stood in the middle of the road, and as I spun to face her, she froze, her eyes wide with shock.

Time seemed to stand still in that moment, leaving just the two of us in the world.

Suddenly, screeching brakes interrupted our encounter. I glanced over and saw a car hurtling toward Freya in the middle of the road. She remained paralyzed, seemingly out of her senses.

"Freya!" My blood ran cold.

No!

The fear of losing Freya once more triggered an instinctual reaction, and in a split second, I transformed into a wolf. I dashed towards the oncoming car, snatched Freya's frail body in my jaws, and leaped to the other side of the road just as the car rushed past.

After gently laying Freya on the ground, I realized she was unconscious.

"Freya, wake up!" I nudged and prodded her with my nose, but she remained unresponsive.

Without further hesitation, I hoisted Freya onto my back and sprinted towards the nearest hospital.
