Alpha Aaron POV
Ever since that day I found her, I felt like I had finally found my missing piece.
She smelt so good, and I was instantly intoxicated by her scent. She was beautiful, more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.
I was devastated when she left to go to the coven.
It had been hard to go through that pack clearing out all those bodies knowing she was not by my side and finding out what she had been through.
It made me mad and angry all at the same time.
The omega that was pregnant she was so cross with her for kissing her so called mate. I was glad Max was out of the way, but this omega had caused my mate pain and I was not happy about it. Not one bit.
She was lucky that she had been let off lightly, but Isla was much more important to me than anyone else.
Of course, she had already been through so much and probably did not want another mate.
I was different though.
Ever since I was, I was a young pup, I had always dreamt of finding my mate and Luna.
She would be everything that I lived for and adored beyond anything.
My father had adored the ground my mother walked on and was still to this day very much in love with her.
That was the love that I had always wanted.
Nothing was the same once I returned to blue Mountain. I felt sick, tired, sad, and empty. Luckily for me, my beta was on hand to take a lot of the stress and strain of me.
My wolf was miserable without a mate she had not rejected us, but it felt 10 times worse than that. How could I function without her?
“Alpha, how are you feeling?” My beta knocked on the door of the bedroom and came in once I permitted him to do so.
“A little better but my Wolf is still finding it hard to deal with. It is horrendous.” I admitted and sighed helplessly. My Wolf had been so hard to contain, anger and fury over not having our mate was driving him to the brinks of insanity. I had to shut him off more times than I cared to remember.
“I wish there was something that I could do.” He shrugged his shoulders.
“You have done more than enough.” I assured him and he had.
Taking on the pack duties was something that I would always be grateful to him for.
Nigel was a great friend and an amazing beta. I was lucky to have him in my life.
I just wished that I could have Isla.
Isla’s POV
It’s been almost a month since i came back to the coven with my mother.
A whole month of learning the spells I needed and how to control my powers, but it was hard without Cleo by my side. She was being extremely stubborn.
I heard that Mora and Miller had gotten together, and I was happy for them, but my own Wolf was still not coming to me, she was mad as hell, and I understood why.
Walking away from Aaron had made her so furious with me.
She felt he was our true mate, but I had had my heart set on coming back with my mother and being here at the coven. I thought it would have been my happy place, where I belonged.
“Wake up, sweetheart.”
I rubbed my eyes and looked around me.
I saw my mother sitting beside me with a big smile on her face, she looked beautiful dressed in a white dress and her hair hanging loosely down her back.
“What’s going on?” I was still half asleep.
“You were tired. You needed to rest. Now it’s time to wake up.
“What is it?” I asked.
“Isla, I know you think coming here was the right thing to do but you just are so distant. Like your mind is elsewhere.” She raised her eyebrows and I sighed.
She was right.
My mind was elsewhere.
I missed Cleo and my sister.
“It’s because of him.” My mother said knowingly, and I look away.
Again, she was right.
“I can’t stop thinking about him. Cleo is sad to be away from him and I feel I should have given him the chance.” I said full of guilt.
Ok, I had a rubbish time with my mates in the past, but did that mean I should disregard Aaron?
On the other hand, I did not want to abandon my family after they had helped me so much and welcome me with such loving arms.
“Only you can make the decision on what is best for you to do, my dear.” She spoke.
My mother placed her hand over mine and stood up to leave the room.
“What now? What do I do now?” I asked myself out loud.
I sat and hugged my knees to my chest, thinking about my life. I smiled knowing my sister was happy and she had found her second chance mate in Miller.
My parents who I thought were my parents growing up, were dead along with my brother and my father and everyone else I had known or loved was gone.
I was now in a place where I had to call home. I thought coming here I would be happy, but I could not deny the fact that I was not one hundred percentage happy.
Forgiving Miller for everything had made me feel better and that I could move on from that chapter of my life.
I had believed that Max was my true mate, my love, and my gift from the moon goddess so when all that came to be all fake, I was of course gutted.
Aaron on the other hand never left my mind. I had to come back here and learn abut myself, my life and my powers were the main priority.
Cleo had been so quiet for the first few days of being here, she was mad that I had walked away from Aaron without even giving him a chance.
He did deserve a chance.
So much had happened and changed but I was happy.
Crystal came and sat down beside me offering me a small smile. It was as if she knew what was on my mind.
“Isla, everything happens for a reason, just remember that.” She told me and I nodded staring into the distance of my little cousins dancing and laughing together, not a care in their world.
“I am happy here, but my Wolf feels detached from me. She hasn’t spoken a word to me.”
“Because you walked away from Aaron?” Crystal hit the nail on the head there.
I did not need to say anything.
“Maybe you should go back and see him?” She suggesting which surprised me.
“You think I should go back and see Aaron?”
She gave me a strange look and then smiled.
“I think you should, but it is your decision.”
My Wolf hated me. She was furious that I had left Aaron without even giving him a chance and came back with my mother to the coven.
Cleo refused to talk to me and had hidden herself away like she was in some sort of protest.
“I think you should do what you feel is best.” She replied and I sighed unsure.
Miller and Max had shown me that I didn’t need anyone to be happy but something about Aaron had me feeling extremely curious.
I needed to find my grandfather and speak to him.
“I wondered how long before you would come and see me.” He chuckled the moment I walked through the door. I grinned and rolled my eyes.
“So, you want to go back to the pack house?” He stroked his beard and studied me for a moment.
“Isla, let me ask you something. Are you happy?”
I frowned then hung my head and sighed.
“I want to be happy here, I thought I was, but I just don’t feel complete.”
He nodded at my words and came over to me. Wrapping me into a hug he kissed the top of my head and then held me out at arm’s length, so we were looking right at each other.
“Then you must go. Go back. The door here will always be open to you, and you can come back at anytime.” He assured me and I felt a tingle of warmth rush through me.
In a moment I was standing at the gates of the blue mountain pack and the pearly white gates in front of me remained shut. My heart was beating so fast in my chest, and I felt all wobbly. As a witch I could easily get myself inside but something coming out of the pack house made me stop.
“Aaron?”
“Isla?”
He pulled the gates open and stood just a few metres in front of me.
Staring like he was unsure if I was there.
“Is that really you?” He whispered.
I smiled through my tears and nodded.
“Yes, it’s really me.”
I felt Cleo stirring and whimper in the back of my mind as I ran to him and hungrily kissed him.
He held his hand on the back of my head holding me to him, not wanting to let go of me. I did not want to let go of him either.
Cleo howled with happiness at the back of my mind.
“I’m so sorry I left without giving you a chance.” I finally said when we both came up for air.
“I, Isla Higgins accept you, Alpha Aaron as my mate.” I suddenly said and his eyes grew wide with disbelief.
“I Alpha Aaron of Blue Mountain Packs accept your acceptance as my mate.” He replied and I felt every inch of my body ooze with happiness.
Finally, I felt complete.
