Isla’s POV
“I am so glad that you are ok. Please tell me Max is no longer a problem?” She said and squeezed my hand as I nodded.
He was long gone and would not be coming back.
Crystal grinned.
“Isla was amazing, she fought like there was not tomorrow and I’m so proud of her.” Her eyes rested on me and for a second, I swear I saw a tear.
“Crystal your here, I can’t believe it. What’s going on?”
“Oh, Esmeralda, you were too weak to make it through the portal. You used all your strength and power to make sure that your daughter got through. of course, you did the right thing. We are so pleased to finally have her in our lives where she belongs. Father is waiting for us. We came back for you.” Crystal said all at once that I was starting to get a headache.
I thought Cleo waking up back on my mind, staring at the sound off leaving.
She wouldn’t want to leave for Aaron.
I know, I could not accept him know after phonetic tap, and it wouldn’t be fair. I needed time out for myself to get to know my family. My powers am I, which side.
“Are you coming with us? Crystal wanted to know, and I can tell she dreaded my answer.
I sighed heavily not wanting to hurt anyone.
My wolf would hate me, but she would get over it eventually.
There was just something I need to do first.
Miller.
I need to see him.
That’s when I realised, I hadn’t seen him since alpha Aaron made an appearance.
“If I’m coming back to coven, I need to see Miller first. Is that ok?”
Crystal frowned worriedly.
“Well, you better hurry up then as we don’t have much time left before that portal will close.” She said and I could already feel how anxious she was becoming.
“It’s ok, love. You can go and say goodbye to Miller.” My mother permitted me with a huge smile as she sat up.
“He’s always going to have a soft spot for you, but you have to do what’s right for you, my dear.” She said and I nodded through my tears because I knew that she was right.
I had already made my mind up.
Luna just wasn’t for me.
Miller had hurt me a lot in the beginning, but I’d grown so much since then. And in my heart, I knew that I forgave him. I thought he’d redeemed himself enough to live his life and be happy. He needed to know that it was okay now.
He did not need to live the rest of his life, regretting his actions towards me. Okay, yes, he rejected me for a total hoe, but in the long run he had done me a favour.
I wouldn’t be where I am right now otherwise. Who knows? But the main thing is my mind is made up and no one and nothing was going to change that.
I knew alpha Aaron would not be happy, but one thing I’ve learnt, its honesty is the best policy. I needed to put me first now to find myself and become the best version of myself that I could be.
Planting a kiss on my mother’s forehead. I turned on my hair and run out the door. Almost colliding with Cora.
“Isla. Mora’s baby was in the hospital still, I’m going to take care of her. Hey, where are you going in such a hurry?” she wanted to know but I didn’t have time to stop and chat, so I just smiled and shook my shoulders, causing her to laugh.
“Have you seen Miller” I asked but she hadn’t seen him either.
Making my way out of the pack house, I couldn’t help, but notice the big pile of lifeless bodies that have been pulled out onto the lawn.
I felt sad for them all, but at least Max was gone, and he wouldn’t hurt anyone else again.
Avoiding beta Nigel, an alpha Aaron, I snuck round the back and through the gate.
Miller was nowhere.
Silently cursing under my breath.
Where the heck was, he?
And I had a horrible sick feeling. Have you gone back to Pembroke and not even said goodbye?
I know that telling me with of Aaron, hurt him and I felt bad about that.
The thought of Aaron, kissing me Suddenly made me feel sick. How was I thinking?
“Isla how are you doing? What’s going on?”
Miller.
“Oh Miller, I’m so sorry. I need you to know that I forgive you.” I explained rushing to him.
I didn’t even notice alpha Aaron and beta Nigel coming over to us until alpha Aaron, peeled Miller away from me.
“What in the name of the moon goddess? What do you think you’re doing? That’s my mate, get your hands of her or else you’ll be joining that part of dead bodies.” Alpha Aaron saved with anger causing me to roll my eyes and shake my head.
This is ridiculous.
He did not own me.
“What the hell are you talking about? Just because my wolf recognises yours as our mate does not mean I’m going to accept you, let alone let you mark and mate with me. In fact, I only came to say goodbye.” I said matter-of-factly.
“You mean you really are leaving?” Miller gasped while alpha Aaron let out an unhappy growl in protest of my decision.
There was no point in him trying to convince me otherwise.
“Ok so, where are you going to go?” Alpha Aaron wanted to know but before I could even answer him,
“She’s coming with us.” My mother appeared with Crystal and alpha Aaron fell silent. She looked so beautiful with her head held high and confidence radiating off her.
I turned back to Miller.
“Miller, go back to Pembroke with Cora. I will be fine. I’ve got my mother m there’s nothing keeping me here anymore and you are free. I forgive you.” I told him and he gave me a small smile.
“Isla, I hope you never forget how amazing you truly are.” He spoke.
Cora appeared with Mora’s baby who was fast asleep in the car seat. She looked so peaceful, and I was glad the baby was going to get a good chance at life with my sister to guide her.
Cora was standing beside me crying her eyes out as she walked up to the car where Miller was already waiting.
“So, I guess this is goodbye?” She choked back her tears and placed the baby in the back of the car.
Mora’s baby deserved to be looked after properly and I knew that Cora would be the right person for that.
“Everything will be ok.” I assure her and she nodded through her tears causing me to fight back my own tears.
“Come on Isla, let’s go.” Crystal called out as I watched the car until it was nothing more than a tiny dot in the distance.
“I’m sorry, I need to be alone. It’s not the right time for me.” I told Alpha Aaron and kissed his cheek sadly. He didn’t say a word but nodded in acknowledgment.
I had to go.
