Alpha's Caged Love

Old wounds

Ch. 112 / 159 May 05, 2026

Max and Kylie's hearts pounded in their chests as they heard the bloodcurdling scream echoing through the dense forest. Without a moment's hesitation, they exchanged determined glances and sprinted towards the source of the cry. Moonlight shone through the trees, creating dancing shadows.

As they emerged from the thicket, their eyes widened at the sight before them. The pack guards, a group of burly werewolves clad in black, surrounded two huddled and frightened women. The guards towered over them, their expressions hardening with suspicion. The women trembled under their watchful gazes, their eyes brimming with terror and desperation.

Max's breath caught in his throat when he recognised the familiar features of the two women. They were none other than the former Luna Clemia and her daughter Josie from the Red Pearl Pack. They had been taken as slaves by the Hawk and his pervert friends. Cayden had talked about them. How they were being tossed around like rag dolls in that terrible auction. He was surprised to see that the woman had survived. Though they looked as if they had escaped a concentration camp,

Without a second thought, Max pushed past the guards, his voice resonating with authority and desperation. "Step aside!" he commanded; his eyes locked with those of the pack guards.

"These women are not intruders; they are the family of a fallen Alpha. I recognise them, and I demand to know why they are being held captive."

The guards hesitated, their rigid facades cracking under Max's unwavering gaze. One of them cleared his throat, his voice filled with uncertainty. "We found them trespassing in our territory," he explained cautiously. "They refused to leave, and we suspected they might be spies or enemies."

Max's jaw clenched, and his fists trembled with restrained fury. "These women have suffered enough," he declared firmly. "They deserve our protection and compassion."

"Luna Clemia?" he uttered, his voice barely a whisper, as if afraid to shatter the fragile hope that had blossomed within him.

"Do not be afraid; I am Max Cayden's beta. No one will hurt you here."

The women's wide eyes met his, and a glimmer of recognition sparked in their tear-filled gazes.

Clemia, her voice quivering with both relief and trepidation, stepped forward.

"Yes, it's us, Clemia and Posie," she whispered, her eyes brimming with tears. "We need to see Alpha Cayden."

************

Cayden slumped in his office, the weight of recent events pressing down on him like an unbearable burden. His once stalwart demeanour is now shattered, replaced with a disheartened expression etched deep into his features. The betrayal of his trusted beta, Oscar, had left him reeling and questioning the loyalty of those he held closest.

But it was Selena's disappearance that struck the most painful chord within his heart. She was captured by Hawk. The realisation gnawed at his soul, leaving him filled with worry and anguish.

A knock echoed through the office door as Cayden's trembling hand reached for the phone to call his devoted beta, Max. He straightened in his seat, his tired eyes turning towards the door. Max surprised him by entering, his presence a welcome sight amid the chaos that had consumed Cayden's world.

Max's usually jovial countenance was replaced with a solemn expression. His eyes reflected a mix of concern and determination. He stood before his Alpha, flanked by two bedraggled women who bore the marks of a tiresome journey. Their clothes were torn, their faces etched with weariness, yet a flicker of resilience glimmered in their eyes.

"Luna Clemia?"

Cayden was suddenly alert. "How come you are here?"

"Alpha Cayden," the older woman said. "We escaped from Reiner's clutches."

"Reiner? But you were with Hawk during the auction?" Cayden asked, anger gnawing at his heart while recalling that terrible night.

"We gave it to Alpha Reiner shortly after the auction. Hawk was bored with us," Clemia whispered.

Cayden's wearied gaze shifted to the women, Clemia and Posie, taking in their dishevelled appearance. He knew all too well the horrors inflicted upon those entangled in the web of Hawk's malevolence. The mere mention of Hawk's name sent a shiver down his spine, knowing the depths of darkness that lived within that Alpha's heart.

Cayden rose from his seat, his voice laced with concern and determination. He began, his tone filled with compassion. "Please, tell me what you've endured; how can I help you?"

The women shared a glance, their eyes filled with a mix of weariness and determination.

Clemia stepped forwards, her voice trembling yet resolute.

"We want refuge." She whispered.

"Of course, you are most welcome to stay here." Cayden ran his hand through his hair.

"We would also like to tell you some vital information," Clemia added.

Cayden's heart quickened at the mention of vital knowledge. He leant closer, his gaze fixed on Clemia.

"Tell me everything," he urged, his voice filled with an unwavering resolve.

With a deep breath, Clemia began her tale.

"Hawk has delved into the forbidden realm of black magic, forming pacts with dark entities that threaten the very fabric of the supernatural realm."

Cayden nodded; he was already aware of that. Michelle had told him that much.

Posie stepped forwards, her voice joining Clemia's in a haunting chorus of truth. "Hawk's thirst for power knows no bounds," she continued, her words a lamentation of the atrocities they had witnessed. "He has performed twisted rituals, syphoning forbidden energies and exploiting slaves." He has kept his former beta in a coma for several years."

"What?" Cayden exclaimed, his eyes widening in shock. "How do you know that?"

Posie looked a little startled at his reaction and reconciled in fear. Cayden closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

"Don't be afraid. No one will hurt you. Tell me everything you know."

She nodded.

"Sometimes Hawk would bring us along to perform at his clubs. On occasions, when the hour grew late, his guards would coerce us into cleaning up after the patrons had gone. One evening, I was taken to a club in the city's heart. Hawk was preoccupied with meetings, leaving me under the watchful eye of his guards," she recounted, her voice tinged with weariness.

A momentary pause filled the air as she gathered her thoughts, her next words carrying a weight of profound sadness and horror. "Those guards... they were merciless. I did as I was told, enduring their abuse in silence. But then it came to their attention that the nurse scheduled for duty that night was absent, and they required a replacement. They took me down to an underground infirmary, a secret chamber hidden beneath the club. It was there that I saw something that filled me with shock and disbelief."

Her voice trembled, and her heart was heavy with the weight of the revelation. "Lying before me, in a state of deep coma, was a woman. I overheard them saying that she was Hawk's former beta. She was executed for treason. Yet, against all odds, she somehow clung to life. And there, hidden away in that infirmary, she had remained in captivity all this time."

The room fell silent as Cayden absorbed the gravity of her words. The revelation of Jennifer's existence sent shockwaves through him.

Alpha Cayden leant forwards, his voice laced with concern. "How could this be? How could Jennifer have survived all this time? And why has Hawk kept her hidden away?" he asked, his questions echoing the thoughts of everyone present.

"Do you think Hawk blackmailed Selena by using her mother, Cayden?" Max mumbled.

Cayden nodded.

"I don't see any other reason. Jennifer's existence is a testament to Hawk's tyranny and his penchant for manipulation and control," he declared. His words resonated with determination.

Clemia further spoke of Hawk's sinister involvement in black magic and his dark pacts and rituals that sought to harness forbidden power. She revealed the extent of Hawk's corruption and his dealings with witches that threatened not only their pack but all werewolves.

"We want to testify against Hawk in the council," Posie interjected, her voice carrying a touch of defiance. "We want justice for ourselves and for all those who have suffered because of him."

Cayden's mind reeled, the weight of the revelations crashing upon him. The council, the governing body of werewolves, needed to hear this testimony to understand the depths of Hawk's treachery.

A flicker of determination ignited within Cayden's eyes as he met the gazes of Clemia and Posie. "You will have your chance to testify," he assured them, his voice firm with conviction. "We will bring Hawk to justice, and the truth will be revealed."

Max nodded; his loyalty unwavering. "I will make the arrangements, Alpha Cayden."

As Max left the office, Cayden turned his attention back to Clemia and Posie.

"You are safe within our walls. When the time comes, I will kill Hawk."
