Alpha's Caged Love

Discovery of a betrayal

Ch. 109 / 159 May 05, 2026

Selena was following her father, Alpha Hawk, through the grand dining hall’s towering doors. The hall exuded grandeur, with intricate tapestries adorning the walls and golden chandeliers casting a warm glow on the polished marble floors. Selena’s presence in this location was unusual, as it was reserved for special occasions and important gatherings within the werewolf pack.

Selena couldn’t help but feel a mixture of excitement and dread as she walked alongside her father. Her stepfamily’s resentment, led by her stepmother Sierra, hung heavy in the air. They saw her as an intruder, an outsider who posed a threat to their position within the pack.

Selena felt the weight of hostile stares from her stepbrother, David, and his mate as she took her seat at the long dining table. Her sisters had separated from the pack after finding their mates. Their glares pierced her, conveying their contempt. She took a deep breath, determined to endure their silent hostility as the meal began.

Alpha Hawk, commanding attention from the head of the table, raised his glass and cleared his throat, silencing the room. “My dear daughter,” he began, his voice a mix of warmth and formality. “She has returned; she was taken captive by Alpha Cayden. But now she is safe and back at home. I promise she will be avenged.”

The room erupted in cheers, and Selena moved awkwardly in her chair. What the hell did he mean?

The dinner started, but Selena had already lost her appetite. The smell of the roast lamb made her nauseous.

“Selena, why aren’t you eating?” Hawk commanded.

“I am not hungry.” Selena gave a curt reply.

“Well, if you behave, maybe I will take you to see your mother.” Hawk said, trying to bribe Selena. She knew he was just manipulating her, but the thought of seeing her mother gave her a glimmer of hope. Despite her queasy stomach, she forced herself to take a few bites of food.

Later, after guiding Selena away from the dining hall, Alpha Hawk led her into a car, which led her to the same hospital she had visited earlier. The room was bathed in a soft light, and the air was heavy with a sense of solemnity. The steady beeping of machines monitoring her mother’s vital signs provided proof of her being alive.

As they entered the room, Selena’s eyes widened with a mixture of anticipation and trepidation. Her mother lay still on the bed, her face peaceful and untouched by passing time. Selena’s heart ached at the sight, the deep longing for her mother’s presence resurfacing with renewed intensity.

Hawk’s voice cut through the silence, drawing Selena’s attention away from her mother’s still form. “Selena, your mother’s condition is grave,” he began, his voice tinged with a sense of urgency. “Her life force diminishes with each passing day. But there may be a way to save her.”

Selena’s breath caught in her throat; her eyes were fixed on her father’s face, desperate for answers. “What must I do?” she asked, her voice barely a whisper.

Alpha Hawk’s gaze bore into her, a mixture of intensity and menace clear in his eyes. “You must testify against Alpha Cayden in the upcoming werewolf council meeting,” he stated firmly. “Accuse him of kidnapping and misconduct. If you cannot comply, your mother’s life support will be ended.”

Selena’s world spun with the weight of her father’s words. The thought of betraying his trust sent a wave of guilt crashing over Selena.

“I can’t do that.” Selena said with finality.

Hawk smirked. “I expected that.”

“It seems like you don’t want to see your mother healthy, Selena,” Hawk said, his tone turning menacing.

“What are you talking about? Mum, can be cured?” Selena asked, her heart racing with hope.

“Yes, she can,” Hawk replied, his smirk turning into a smile. “But you need to do as I say.”

“Why should I trust you?” Selena jerked her head haughtily.

Hawk walked towards Jennifer’s sleeping form and gently stroked her cheeks.

“I can see that you are mated.”

Selena’s eyes widened in fear. How stupid of her to assume that he wouldn’t notice.

“So, you must understand how the mate bond works. Right?"

Hawk’s voice was calm and steady, but Selena could sense the underlying threat. She nodded slowly, unsure of what he was planning to do next. “Good,” Hawk said, his hand still resting on Jennifer’s cheek. “I can save her life if I want.”

Selena’s heart raced as she realised what he meant.

“All these years, you could have cured her, but you didn’t.”

Hawk nodded. “But I can if you do as I say. You either comply or your mother dies. It’s that simple.”

Selena felt her heart sink as she realised the gravity of the situation. She knew she had to find a way out of this, but the stakes were higher than ever before.

But the prospect of losing her mother, of standing idly by while her life slipped away, was utterly unbearable. Selena found herself caught in the clutches of an agonising dilemma, her loyalty and filial duty warring with her desire to protect the ones she loved.

Standing before her father, Selena’s voice quivered but remained resolute.

“Ok, I will do it.”

Deep within the shadows of the dense forest, Michelle walked through the shrubs to find an isolated spot. She looked around to make sure she wasn’t being watched, then took out her cell phone and made a call.

“Michelle,” Oscar greeted, his voice laced with uncertainty. “Why are you calling me now?”

Michelle’s voice cracked with urgency and anxiety, betraying the weight of her words. “Oscar, we were in this together.” We planned everything—every step of our betrayal against Cayden. But you left without me! How could you do that? “

“I had no choice, Michelle,” Oscar stammered, desperation creeping into his voice. “I did what I thought was right. I fear for my life. I had to leave before he discovered the truth.”

Michelle’s tone shifted, filled with a bitter blend of anger and disappointment. “And what about me? You left me behind to face the fallout of our actions alone. We were partners, Oscar, and you abandoned me. We were in this together, Oscar. I trusted you.”

Oscar’s voice became hardened and void of remorse. “Michelle, you must understand. Cayden will soon be pursued by the council, and anyone associated with him will be in danger. It’s time to think about leaving the pack as well.”

“Oh, shut up, Oscar! I don’t need your advice.” She angrily cut the call and stormed off.

Milli moved silently through the dense forest, her senses attuned to the whispers of the wind and the rustling of leaves.

Hidden among the shadows, Milli caught sight of Michelle, her voice laced with secrecy and treachery. She listened, her mind struggling to comprehend the depth of their deceit. Milli’s heart raced, her emotions intertwining into a maelstrom of shock, anger, and determination. So Michelle was responsible for Selena’s disappearance. Milli had her doubts, so she started keeping an eye on Michelle. She was glad she followed her instincts.

Taking a deep breath, Milli retreated from the shadows, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew what she had to do. Her duty as an Omega was clear—to protect the pack, even if it meant exposing the darkest secrets lurking within. With a newfound determination, Milli set out towards the heart of the pack’s territory, her footsteps purposeful and resolute.

As she approached Alpha Cayden’s den, Milli’s breath quickened.

With trembling hands, Milli announced her presence, her voice carrying a mix of urgency and concern. “Alpha Cayden, may I speak with you? It is a matter of the utmost importance.”

Cayden emerged from his den, his regal presence commanding respect. His gaze met Milli’s.

“What troubles you, Milli?” Cayden’s voice held a soothing quality, tinged with curiosity.

Taking a deep breath, Milli recounted the clandestine conversations she had overheard and the whispers of betrayal that had pierced her heart.

As Milli spoke, Cayden’s expression hardened, his eyes narrowing with a mix of disbelief and anger.

“Thank you, Milli.” Cayden’s voice resonated with determination. “Your loyalty and bravery in bringing this to my attention will not be forgotten.”

He looked at Max, then commanded.

“Go find Michelle.”
