Alpha's Caged Love

Moonrise Carnage

Ch. 127 / 159 May 05, 2026

Cayden positioned himself at the natural chokepoint of the hill so that he could shield the more vulnerable members of the Pack who were behind him from the oncoming army. Because the rock formations were in the shape of an upside-down "V," the entrance was only ten yards wide at its narrowest point. Even though they could avoid him through strategic manoeuvring, it appeared the rebel army was intent on pushing forwards and striking at the heart of their territory before any suitable defence could be mounted.

Cayden yelled to Max, instructing him to stay by his side and stand by him. Max struggled to catch his breath as he raced up the hill. Michael, the adversary Alpha, had the backing of his subordinate betas and his own supporters. He recognised Michael as one of Hawk’s Minion.

Instead of himself, Hawk sent his dog as a stand-in. Cayden murmured under his breath.

Cayden informed Max of the strength of the army while clenching his hands firmly in determination. Cayden unleashed a ferocious howl that was filled with outrage and warning as he lifted his snout to the moon. The sound reverberated throughout the valley, bringing a halt to the progress of the army. Using his superiority and power, he let loose an invisible force that repelled the wolves that were closing in on him and brought some of them to their knees.

Cayden transformed into his wolf form as soon as they started focusing their attention on him. He started marching down the hill, and Max followed closely behind him. The wolves that were approaching broke off their pursuit of him, and some of them even transformed into human form, looking at him with a mixture of fear and respect.

Approaching Michael, Cayden addressed them with steely resolve.

"Alpha Michael. Your crossing into my land is an act of war. Leave at once, and you may keep your lives." He and his men broke up laughing.

"Good to see you, Cayden; you must be missing your whore."

Cayden crossed his arms. "Did Hawk send you?"

"Maybe. How does it matter?"

Cayden's voice dripped with disdain as he continued, "You must be desperate if you think you can challenge me." The wolves exchanged uneasy glances, realising they had underestimated Cayden's power and determination.

Michael's face contorted in anger at the insult, and he stalked forward.

"You bastard," he snarled. "What makes you think you can stand against me? You're nothing. We killed you, father. His Betas. Almost all his warriors. I have his land now. And you thought you could stop us?" Michael laughed along with his men. "Tell you what, after Magnus is done with your whore. I will take her. She will be on her knees with my dick in her mouth and a collar around her neck."

"That isn't going to happen, Michael." Cayden took a deep breath. “Let's do it this way. I, Cayden Greymark, formally known as Ryan Wood, challenge you, Alpha Michael, for the leadership of your Pack." As soon as Cayden finished, he shifted into his wolf.

"Alpha Cayden," Alpha Michael sneered, his voice dripping with venom. "Your reign ends tonight. This territory belongs to us now."

Alpha Cayden's lips curled into a snarl, his muscles tensing as he prepared to defend his pack. "That will never happen Michael."

With that, the war began in a flurry of fangs and claws as the two packs collided like a force of nature. The forest echoed with the clash of teeth and the thud of paws as werewolves from both sides fought with savage intensity.

Amidst the chaos, Alpha Cayden and Alpha Michael locked eyes, their mutual hatred fuelling their fight. They circled each other like ancient gladiators, searching for an opening in each other's defence.

"You've always been weak, Cayden," Alpha Michael taunted, lunging forward with a lightning-quick strike.

Cayden dodged the attack and countered with a powerful blow to Alpha Michael's flank. "You mistake cunning for weakness, Michael. And tonight, I will show you the consequences of underestimating me."

The conflict continued, with neither Alpha displaying any signs that they were going to give in. Beta Max fought by Alpha Cayden's side, his unwavering allegiance to Cayden displayed in every swipe of his claws. Beta Victor, Alpha Michael's second-in-command, was a shrewd and treacherous opponent, and he and Michael engaged in a fierce duel with each other.

As the conflict dragged on, Cayden's forces gained an advantage in battle. His pack fought with a level of unity that was unmatched, and they defended their territory with undying allegiance. They could drive back Alpha Michael's pack, which ultimately resulted in them having to retreat.

Alpha Michael became despondent as he realised they were going to lose, and he made a desperate call to a group of rogue werewolves who would fight for whoever paid them the most. Their allegiance was bought with promises of power and territory, and as a result, the rogues were merciless and thirsty for blood.

The conflict became more intense when the rogue werewolves were brought into it, and this caused the power dynamic to shift once more. The pack, led by Cayden, found themselves in a difficult position as they attempted to hold their ground against the unexpected reinforcements.

However, just as the moon continued to climb higher into the sky, so did Cayden's resolve. He would not give in to avarice or aggression and allow it to take over his pack. After mustering up every ounce of strength he possessed, he let out a resounding howl that cut through the mayhem like a knife.

"Pack! We fight not just for ourselves but for the unity of all werewolves! For the honour of our ancestors! For the legacy we leave behind!" he roared.

The rallying cry ignited a fire within every member of Cayden's pack. Renewed with purpose, they fought with renewed vigour, pushing back against the combined forces of Alpha Michael and the rogue werewolves. Finally, the tide turned yet again, and the intruders found themselves outmatched by the competition. The bond that they shared as a pack proved to be their most powerful asset in the battle, which Cayden and his pack fought with an intensity that was unparalleled.

When the first rays of dawn appeared in the sky and streaked across the horizon, Alpha Michael's was already well on their way back. Their leader, beaten and battered, was forced to retreat with his tail between his legs. Cayden had prevailed in his efforts to protect his territory and his pack from the danger that sought to consume them all.

Cayden and the other members of his pack stood tall as the golden light cast by the rising sun illuminated the surrounding forest. They celebrated their victory by holding their heads high. The battle had been difficult, but they had won thanks to their cohesiveness, loyalty, and unyielding resolve throughout the conflict.

"Leave now, Michael. Take your pack and never return," Alpha Cayden commanded, his voice firm but not devoid of compassion.

Michael gathered his pack and vanished into the depths of the forest without uttering a single word, allowing Cayden and the rest of his pack to savour their hard-won victory in peace. That the war was finally over made it appear as though the forest was releasing a sigh of relief.

As Cayden looked over the battleground, the aftermath of the fierce battle was heavy in the air. His group had won, but the price of victory was heavy on his heart. Wolves that had been killed while trying to protect their territory lay still on the forest floor. He gave the solemn order to his pack with a heavy heart.

"Max, get the bodies of those in our pack who have died. We'll say goodbye to them the right way, and their spirits will always be with us," Cayden said, and his voice was sad and determined at the same time.

Max nodded. He knew how important the task was. He asked other members of the pack for help, and they moved the dead werewolves to an open area. The rest of the pack gathered around the bodies, bowing their heads in respect.

As the injured werewolves were taken to safety, the rest of the pack celebrated their hard-earned victory. Cheers of triumph filled the air, and the pack members embraced one another, grateful to have survived the battle. Max clapped Cayden on the back with a broad grin on his face.

"We did it, Cayden! We defended our home, and we showed Michael what we are made of," Max said, his eyes gleaming with pride.

Cayden managed a small smile, though his thoughts were still clouded with concern. "Yes, Max, we fought bravely. But there's something troubling me."

Max furrowed his brow. "What is it, Alpha? We emerged victorious. There's no reason to worry now."

"The war has just started, Max. This won't be the last attack. The council has been compromised."

Just then, Cayden's phone buzzed, and he glanced down to see a call from his allies: Mark, Jack, and Dean. Excusing himself from the revelry, he stepped away to answer the call.

"Cayden here. What's the situation?" He asked, his voice filled with both curiosity and concern.

Mark spoke first. "Cayden, we're facing similar attacks on our territory. We drove them off, but it was brutal. We lost some good wolves."

Jack, another ally of Alpha, added, "We've received word that James is dead."

Dean, the third in the alliance, chimed in, "Cayden, we need to gather our packs and form a united front. We have to protect our lands and our people."

"There is no need to do that. I don't want more people to die. We have already lost Natasha, James, and several more."

"So, what are we going to do? We can't be sitting ducks." Dean said.

"I am going to surrender." Cayden said quietly.

"WHAT!" his allies on the phone, as well as his Betas, shouted incredulously.
