Alpha's Caged Love

Echoes of Revenge

Ch. 132 / 159 May 05, 2026

Max moved as silently as a ghost through the dimly lit dungeons in the basement of the alpha council, his footsteps being so quiet that they were almost inaudible. As he inched his way through the maze-like corridors, the flickering torches cast eerie shadows on the wet walls. He was adamant about locating Thalia and Ruben, two council members whom Magnus had imprisoned, to exert the maximum amount of control over the packs that he could.

As Max rounded a corner, his heart pounded in his chest as his keen senses remained on the lookout for any indications of impending danger. It appeared as though the echoes of his own movements were reverberating through the icy stone, posing a potential threat to reveal his presence. Already, he had dispatched a few of the wolf guards that were scouring the dungeons; their lifeless bodies lay motionless against the walls.

He continued to make his way deeper into the underground maze until he finally came upon a cell that was barred on all sides and had an iron door that was secured with a heavy chain. Inside, Thalia and Ruben were seen huddled together, exhaustion and hopelessness written all over their faces. They had heard the ongoing chaos above, which filled them with both fear and hope.

"Max?" Thalia spoke in a hushed tone, her words difficult to make out over the background din. "Are you Max?"

Max moved a step closer, his chest expanding with a sense of contentment at the sight of the other members of the council. "Yes, it's me," he verified, his voice remaining muffled throughout the conversation. "I've come to get you out of this place.”

Ruben's eyes widened in shock, and he felt a spark of hope ignite within him at the same time. "But how did you even get into this building? Where is Cayden, by the way?"

Max revealed he had "sneaked in while the chaos was still unfolding above," in his explanation. "Regarding Cayden, he is currently fighting with Magnus and Hawk, along with our allies. However, we cannot afford to be late. It is imperative that we locate them before it is too late."

Thalia gave a decisive nod, maintaining her stance. Despite the turmoil surrounding them, she maintained composure as she stated, "I know where Magnus might be hiding. Follow me.”

************

Cayden and his allies engaged in combat with Hawk and his followers above, which resulted in a great deal of disorder within the council hall. The grand chamber was filled with the pungent odour of blood and rage, and the sounds of the conflict could be heard throughout the entire space. The werewolves charged at each other and fought, ripping flesh and bones apart with their teeth and claws.

The corrupt alphas, who had previously served as the leaders and oppressors of the group, were now up against a formidable adversary that they had not expected at all.

The storm was raging all around Alpha Michael, who was standing still in the middle of it. His eyes were malicious. Cayden let out a fierce roar as he charged at Alpha Michael and made a grab for him. Both fate and retribution were intricately woven into the fabric of their lives. When they battled against one another, it was like a symphony of violence, with each blow carrying the weight of their history and the blood of their people.

Cayden's claws were at their sharpest now, and he slashed at Michael's neck with all the speed and skill he could muster.

He lifted Michael off the ground while his claws were digging into Michael's neck after he had been caught by his throat. Cayden charged forwards quickly and grabbed Michael's left hand as he attempted to raise it. Michael whimpered as he hung there helplessly in Cayden's grasp while Cayden held onto him.

"I can help you capture Hawk. I am familiar with all of his hiding places."

In a state of panic, he looked around at the irate Cayden. Cayden did nothing more than shake his head.

"Michael, when you attacked my pack, I had every intention of taking your life. However, I left you alive so that you could return to Hawk and deliver the message that I left for him. That I would soon be there to get him."

Cayden remarked, as he sliced through Michael's forearms with his claws.

Michael recognised he was in deep trouble when he saw the look of rage on Cayden's face. He realised then that he was doomed.

"You bastard!" Michael let out a scream. "I will see you in HELL."

Cayden responded with vehemence, "I don't think that's the case."

Michael screamed out in agony as his arms were being ripped away from his body at the shoulders. "You are to be put to death, Michael, for the crime of committing treason against your own kind." Cayden ripped Michael's head from his shoulders, tossing his body to the ground where her head rolled. He looked up and caught sight of Max, Thalia, and Ruben.

"I'm sorry you had to suffer in prison because of me." Cayden apologised to Thalia and Ruben while wiping blood from his claws.

"What is important is that the peace we are seeking to create will last," Thalia said. "Mr. Greymark, it is a pleasure to see you again." She moved forward, and he embraced her shoulders.

"So did you find Selena?" Thalia asked.

"Yeah, she is safe. We must find Hawk and Magus. We can't let them escape," Cayden shouted above the cacophony of battle.

"The secret door," Thalia said. "Magnus will try to use the secret door. It's the only way council members could escape in times of crisis."

Cayden nodded; his eyes locked on Thalia's. "Let's move, then. We must hurry if we're to catch up to them."

The four of them pushed through the chaos. They had to reach the secret door before Magnus and Hawk.

As they reached the narrow corridor leading to the secret door, Cayden's heart raced even faster. Time seemed to blur, and he could feel Magnus' presence drawing nearer. Thalia's instincts guided them, and they moved with a swiftness born of desperation.

Thalia halted at the entrance to the chamber housing the secret door, her fingers tracing the intricate patterns etched into the stone. "This is it," she whispered, her voice carrying the weight of centuries of secrets.

With a whisper of incantation, Thalia activated the door's mechanism. It slid open, revealing a passage that seemed to stretch into the very depths of the earth. The eerie blue light within cast long shadows, a stark contrast to the raging battle outside.

"We must be swift," Cayden urged, his senses on high alert.

The group moved through the twisting passage, their steps echoing softly against the stone. The darkness seemed to press in on them, suffocating and alive, as if the very walls held the memories of countless clandestine meetings.

As they approached the heart of the chamber, the chamber had several doors which led to other tunnels leading outside. They found Magnus, his silver hair gleaming like moonlight. His eyes blazed with a mixture of fury and desperation, and his features twisted in a sinister grin.

"So you found me!" Magnus spat, his voice dripping with arrogance.

Cayden tightened his grip on his gun, his resolve unyielding. "Your plans end here, Magnus. Your reign of terror is over."

Magnus chuckled, a dark and twisted sound that sent shivers down their spines. "Is that what you think, Cayden? That ruling them was my plan. No, no, that was never the real goal. What I wanted was far more sinister."

Thalia's eyes narrowed, her suspicion growing. "Then what was your true aim, Magnus? What could be worse than the tyranny you tried to impose?"

Magnus's grin widened, revealing a glint of madness in his eyes. "All I wanted was to bring them to their knees, to make them tear each other apart. You never accepted me as one of their own, and this was my revenge. I wanted to shatter your realm, to reduce the werewolf world to ashes."

Ruben's fists clenched, his voice seething with anger. "You'd destroy your own kind? You'd kill innocent werewolves just to satisfy your thirst for revenge?"

Magnus's laughter filled the air once more, a sound devoid of remorse. "They're not my kind, Ruben. They never saw me as one of them. They pushed me aside and treated me like an outsider. Now, they'll pay for that mistake. Half of them will be dead, and the rest will be left broken, a shadow of their former selves. The chaos will be my legacy."

The depth of his bitterness and thirst for vengeance was staggering, a darkness that threatened to consume them all. But Cayden wouldn't let that happen.

"We won't let your vengeance succeed, Magnus," Cayden declared, his voice resolute. "We'll rebuild and heal, even in the face of your chaos. We'll bring unity and strength back to the werewolf world, even in the wake of your destruction."

For a moment, Magnus's facade wavered, a flicker of uncertainty in his eyes. But then, with a snarl of defiance, he regained his composure. "You can try, but it's too late. The wheels are already in motion. Chaos is coming, and there's nothing you can do to stop it."

Ruben's voice was stern, his resolve unyielding. "We'll stop you, Magnus, no matter the cost. Your plans end here."

With a sudden surge of movement, Magnus lunged for the chamber's entrance. But before he could take more than a step, Max's silver bullet whistled through the air, finding its mark. Magnus skidded to a halt, his eyes wide with disbelief.

"Your game is up, Magnus," Cayden declared, his voice cold and resolute. "You won't escape the justice you deserve."

As Magnus's gaze locked with Cayden's, a realisation swept across his face. There was no way out, no path to victory. In a final, desperate act, he made a reckless leap towards the secret door, a last-ditch attempt to escape.

But the fates were unkind, and Magnus's feet found only empty space. His cries resounded throughout the chamber as he fell into the depths below, disappearing into the shadows. Cayden ran and looked down into the pit.

"He is dead," Thalia whispered, her voice trembling with a mixture of relief and exhaustion. "He jumped into the wrong door."

Cayden nodded, a sense of bittersweet victory washing over him. "It's over, but there's still much to be done. Let's go back to the council hall and finish this war."
