Alpha's Caged Love

Plans of different sorts

Ch. 141 / 159 May 05, 2026

The werewolf realm was no longer a war-torn nightmare battlefield. Over the course of a week, the magic of healing wrapped itself around the wounds left by the fight. Like puzzle pieces, the packs had moved around to make fresh formations. Some were joined, like when you try to put on two socks that don't match, and others found leaders. Then there were packs that disappeared, as if they had been sucked into the Bermuda Triangle of the magical world.

But the waves of justice didn't stop at the borders of the realm. The captured alphas and those who helped them one by one, had to pay for their wrongdoings. Everyone except Connard Hawk. There was a rumour that the council was keeping him alive for some hidden reason. Jennifer's survival was still a secret. It would have sent the already fragile supernatural realm into a tizzy.

Thalia and Ruben were leading the formation of the new council. One that would be less corrupt and more transparent than its predecessor. They were determined to restore faith and trust among the supernatural beings, ensuring that justice was served without bias or favouritism. The capture of Connard Hawk would be their ultimate test, as they aimed to prove that no one was above the law, no matter their status or connections.

Amid this supernatural soap opera, four friends, Anna, Kylie, Maya, and Milli, were pondering over a very important matter in the spirit walker common room: Selena's baby shower.

Anna said she was holding a tiny pair of booties. "I found these little booties, and they're so cute I could die."

"Awww, the victim of baby booties." Maya laughed.

"How about a little werewolf riding a stork?" Kylie said. She ignored their banter.

The friends all chuckled at Kylie's suggestion, imagining the absurd image in their minds.

As the brainstorming session rolled on, the door swung open to reveal Max. He leant suavely against the doorframe. "Hey, Kylie, how about a run in the woods?" He asked suggestively.

"Not now, Max; I still smell like grass after our last romp. Despite taking a shower," Kylie grumbled.

Max raised an eyebrow, a mischievous grin playing on his lips. "Well, maybe we can make the woods even more enticing," he teased, winking at Kylie.

Kylie threw one of the baby booties at him. "Stop trying to distract me, Max. We need to focus on our brainstorming session," Kylie scolded, a hint of amusement in her voice. Max chuckled and caught the bootie in mid-air before settling down next to Kylie to continue their discussion.

"Surely, a stroll is more exciting than baby booties?"

"You underestimate the power of glitter and onesies."

Max made a humorous brow lift. "Onesies with glitter, huh? Maybe we can utilise these for ourselves if you give me a chance. You know what I mean?"

Kylie laughed and playfully nudged Max. "Oh, I know exactly what you mean. But let's stay focused for now; we can always have our own glitter and onesie adventure later."

Max grinned mischievously, but nodded in agreement.

"Will you two stop already?" Maya said with a disgusted look.

"Yeah, get a room." Anna grumbled. Max and Kylie exchanged amused glances before Max replied,

"Don't worry, Maya. We'll save our glitter and onesie adventures for a more appropriate time." They all shared a laugh, lightening the mood.

Unaware of the 'brainstorming' going on, Selena walked in on the giggling bunch as she entered the common room.

Curiosity piqued, Selena raised an eyebrow and asked, "What's so funny?" The group exchanged mischievous glances before Max spoke up. "Oh, just planning your…….." Max said when suddenly Kylie cut her off.

"A party! We are planning a party!"

Selena's eyes widened with excitement as she joined in, sitting on one couch. She didn't have a baby bump yet, but she was feeling increasingly tired, and her nights with Cayden weren't helping. She was grateful for the distraction and eagerly asked, "When is the party? What's the occasion?"

The group shared secretive smiles before Max—just a celebration because everyone had been on the edge for a long time. "We thought it would be a great way to let loose and have some fun together."

"That's a good idea; may I join in?" Selena asked.

"Of course! We need your input," Maya said, winking at her.

While the group talked, Selena's gaze drifted from her friends' plotting to the window, where a different story was unfolding. Her mother, Jennifer, was strolling in the garden holding a cane. Because of being in a coma for years. Her muscles had become weak, and she was undergoing physiotherapy for that. Besides her, Dr. Colin.

Selena whispered to herself. "Mum and Dr. Colin is taking a garden walk together."

"They've been spending a lot of time together lately," Maya replied, her voice tinged with curiosity.

"Do they like each other?" Millie asked innocently.

Selena smiled. "I hope so."

It was unclear whether her mother was still connected to Hawk. Jennifer was still cut off from her wolf, who had become confused after being confided in for 15 years. Jennifer hadn't shifted yet. She was adamant that she had no affection for Hawk and would have preferred that the council execute him. Selena didn't want to take any chances.

**************************************

The walls of Hawk's confinement could not contain his rage, which emanated from him like physical force. He walked the length of his cell like a trapped predator, each step a ferocious declaration of vengeance against those who had gone against him.

Outside, the low hum of footsteps resonated across the tiny corridor, signalling an unexpected visitor. Hawk's penetrating stare was fixated on the emerging figure, whose features were obscured by a dark robe.

Hawk snarling. It took you long enough. I've been pacing in this forsaken cell, waiting for a sign of your pathetic existence."

"Thalia and Ruben are more vigilant than ever," the stranger whispered. "Meeting you without raising suspicion was an arduous task."

Hawk's lips curled into a sneer; his impatience was unrelenting. "Vigilance? Spare me your excuses. What's going on with those cretins?"

"Their unity proved stronger than we expected. All our comrades are dead."

The bitter news of their failure fuelled Hawk's rage, which surged like a tidal wave. " Dead? You dare to bring me this?"

The man's eyes glinted in the dim light, an almost spectral gleam in the shadows.

Man: "Believe what you wish, but it remains the truth."

Hawk's clenched fists shook with a mixture of anger and desperation. He needed an escape from his current imprisonment. "How soon can you get me out of this cell?"

The man's response was cautious; his words weighed with the gravity of their implications. "It's not a simple task. Thalia and Ruben had cast their watchful eyes upon everything. Escaping their notice is nearly impossible."

Hawk's tolerance had worn thin, and his voice had taken on a dangerous tone.

"I don't care about complications," he muttered. "I need to get out of here, and I need it now."

Even though the surrounding shadows seemed to move, the man's eyes stayed steady, and his voice was steady. "There may be a way, but it's full of dangers."

Hawk leant in, his voice a dangerous whisper. "I don't fear risks. Tell me."

"But what can you do, Hawk? Even if you escape, you will be caught and killed. Your son is the new alpha, and he is literally the puppet of his mate. Where will you go?"

Hawk's eyes narrowed, determination burning in his gaze. "You don't have to worry about that. Just tell me how much you need."

The man's gaze held steady, a sinister understanding passing between them. "I can arrange a safe passage for you and a new identity. It won't come cheap, though. Are you prepared to pay the price?"

A predatory smile curled Hawk's lips as he unveiled his hidden card. Money is not an issue. I have resources that can cover any cost. All I need is assurance. Will this convince you of my sincerity?"

The man's eyes gleamed with greed. He removed his hood. Fenrir, the only surviving member of the council other than Thalia and Ruben, said this to Hawk.

"Two days later, Thalia and Ruben are visiting some old oracles in the Dark Moon Pack. I will set you free once they are gone."

Hawk's eyes narrowed, suspicion flickering across his face. "You had better keep your end of the deal, Fenrir. If you betray me, there will be consequences." Fenrir chuckled darkly, his voice laced with confidence. "Hawk. I have no reason to double-cross you. But after that, no more favours."
