CIARA
Ryan shielded me away from the gun shot, and even as the sound echoed through the arena, he stare at me with a smile that filled his face, but I did not realize that those smile were consumed with pain, just then the cops arrived and surrounded the entire place.
I tried to pull away from Ryan but my gown was now covered in blood, fear took hold of me, at first I thought that the blood was from me but then I realize that I could not feel any pain.
Until I watched my husband slowly slumped out of my hand, his hand was clutching to his stomach and he was bleeding profusely and gasping for breathe.
"Ryan!!" Anne called as soon as she realized what she just did, her eyes widened in terror.
"Ryan, I am so sorry, I didn't mean for it to be you, you just happened to be in my way, please do not die." Anne cried out but the cops had already apprehended her and clipped a handcuff around her wrist.
I went on my knee and held his side where the blood was gushing out hoping to stop the blood, but it wasn't helping at all.
"Somebody call 911!" I cried out, watching everyone running for their lives, Mrs. Smith ran over to the altar and immediately she saw her son in such a state, she almost collapsed.
"Oh my God!! Ciara what happened to him?" She asked even though the answer was clearly looking at her in the face, but I still held onto Ryan putting pressure on the affected part as much as I could.
"Ryan please stay with me....stay with me... Help is coming soon... " I cried and my heart was breaking down into tiny pieces.
"Ciara... Take.. Care... Care... Of Herzl.. I love you so much..."
"No! Please, fight! Fight this for me and herzl and our unborn child." His eyes immediately widened as I placed his hand on my tummy.
"What... What... What... Are you talking about?"
"Yes dear... I wanted it to be a surprise, I am two weeks pregnant" I cried out and admits the pain that he was feeling, I could see the excitement in his eyes admits the pain.
Just then, ambulance arrived, they immediately hauled him up and jerked him inside. Ryan had lost a lot of blood, and by this time, he had lost consciousness, his face looked so pale that I could not stop crying.
I followed them inside the ambulance, my gown soaked in blood, but I had forgotten all about that, all I was so worried about was his safety.
Ryan was rushed to surgery while Mrs smith, herzl and I sat at the waiting area pacing around. "Ciara I think that you should go home and have a change of cloth, how long are you going to keep staying here with that dress of yours."
"I do not care mother, all I care about is my husband, I feel like this is all my fault, it should have been me on that bed, he was trying to protect me and all this happened, mother I can't survive if anything should happen to him, I have been through so much and this is just too much to bear, my heart can't take anymore of it."
I cried out, my face had become pale and swollen red from excessive crying, I could feel my head pounding hard and yet I could not stop myself from crying because the pain was too much and too hard to bear.
Mrs. Smith walked up to me and embraced me. I could tell that she was also holding up her tears, trying to be strong for me.
"Calm down dear, the both of you have experienced more than this, everything is going to be fine, but you do not want him to wake up and see you in such a state right?"
"But mother, I want to be the first person that he sees when he wakes up."
"I know, but you have to go home and take a bath, besides your son has been through so much today, look at him, he is feeling dizzy, you need to put him to bed."
I turned around to look at my son who was half way asleep where he sat and felt sorry for him. He was just a child and yet he had to go through so much at his age.
"Alright Mom, I will put him to bed once I get home and be back as soon as I can, but if anything comes up, please call me as soon as you can."
"You know I will, so just run along." I nodded my head and hauled Herzl in my arms before rushing out of the ward. I was lucky to have seen a cab as soon as I was outside the hospital and immediately boarded.
First I pulled off my gown. Today was supposed to be the best day of my life, but suddenly, it all turned into a nightmare.
I assisted Herzl in scrubbing off his entire body, made some cereal for him but just like me, he had no appetite.
"Mommy when is daddy coming back home, is he going to be alright?" He looked fragile and was almost staring into blank space, the look on his face shattered my heart but there was nothing that I could do to lighten his mood because I myself did not had answer to the question that he seeked.
"Daddy is sick at the hospital and the doctors are taking good care of him, he will be back home once he gets better and I know that you do not want daddy to see you in a state like this when he gets back home, so try eat your food so that you can look more strong and healthy."
"I want to wait for Daddy so we can eat together when he gets back home."
"No... Daddy is not coming back today, you need some rest, so eat your food and then I can put you to bed."
I explained with a smile on my face, he nodded his head and complied.
