The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 726

Ch. 716 / 790 May 05, 2026

Bella stood motionless, her hand resting protectively on her stomach as Misery’s words echoed in her mind. The joy that had filled her when Kael first reacted to the news of their baby was now overshadowed by the heavy weight of Misery’s warning. The child she carried, a unique combination of vampire and wolf blood, was already starting to grow, and Misery had made it clear that this rapid development would take a toll on her.

“You’re stronger than your mother,” Misery had said, “but even strength has limits.”

Bella could still hear those words ringing in her ears as she stood by the window, her gaze fixed on the distant horizon. The fear that had been creeping in, growing slowly but steadily, now gripped her heart fully. She had wanted this baby, had dreamed of the moment when she and Kael would have a family together. But now, all she could think about was the danger, the risk of losing herself to the very life she had longed for.

She knew Misery had only spoken the truth, but that didn’t make it any easier to accept. She was strong, yes. But would it be enough?

The sound of footsteps approached, and Bella turned to see Kael walking into the room. His eyes lit up when they met hers, a smile curving his lips, but it faltered when he saw the troubled expression on her face.

“Bella, what’s wrong?” he asked, his voice filled with concern. He stepped closer to her, his hand reaching out, but Bella stepped back slightly, holding her ground.

“Kael, I need to talk to you,” she said quietly, her heart pounding. She couldn’t hold this back any longer. If she didn’t tell him, she knew it would eat away at her.

He furrowed his brow, his concern deepening. “What is it? You’re scaring me.”

Bella took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. She wanted to be strong, for both of them, but the truth was terrifying. “Misery told me about the risks. About the pregnancy. The hybrid child… it’s dangerous. It could destroy me, Kael.”

Kael froze, his eyes widening in disbelief. For a moment, he just stood there, staring at her, as though the words hadn’t fully sunk in.

“Bella, no,” he said, shaking his head. He took a step toward her again, but Bella held up a hand to stop him.

“I don’t want to lose you,” she whispered, her voice trembling. “But I also don’t want to lose this child. I want to keep it, Kael. But I need you to understand that there are risks. There’s so much we don’t know.”

Kael’s expression softened, his gaze never leaving hers as he slowly crossed the room, closing the distance between them. He reached for her hands, his grip gentle but firm.

“We’ll face it together,” he said, his voice filled with determination. “Whatever comes, we’ll face it together. I’ll protect you, Bella. I’ll protect both of you.”

Tears welled up in Bella’s eyes as she looked at him, seeing the sincerity and love in his gaze. But despite his words, the fear still lingered in her chest. She didn’t want to burden him with this. She didn’t want him to see her as weak or broken. But the truth was, she didn’t know if she was strong enough to handle what was coming.

“I’m scared, Kael,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. “I’m scared that I won’t be able to survive this. That I won’t be enough.”

Kael’s expression softened further, and he pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly against his chest. “You are more than enough, Bella,” he murmured into her hair. “And no matter what, I’ll be right here with you. You don’t have to face this alone.”

Bella closed her eyes, letting the warmth of his embrace calm her racing heart, but the nagging fear remained. The weight of the unknown pressed down on her shoulders, and for the first time, she felt truly vulnerable.

As they stood there, locked in each other’s arms, Bella couldn’t help but wonder if she was making the right decision. She wanted to be strong for Kael, for their child. But would her strength be enough to carry them through the storm that was coming?

Later that evening, as Kael left to attend to pack matters, Bella found herself wandering through the house, seeking solace in the quiet of the night. Her mind was a whirlwind of conflicting emotions—fear, love, uncertainty. She knew she had to make a decision, but the burden was heavy, and she wasn’t sure where to turn.

She stepped outside into the cool night air, the wind tugging gently at her hair. The stars above twinkled brightly, but their beauty did little to ease the ache in her chest. She walked aimlessly through the pack grounds, trying to clear her mind, until she found herself standing by a small pond, the moonlight reflecting off the water’s surface.

A soft voice broke the silence. “Bella?”

Turning around, Bella saw Lira approaching, her expression a mix of concern and understanding. Lira had been a constant presence in Bella’s life since her arrival at the pack, and though Bella hadn’t always known what to make of her, there was a quiet strength in Lira that she had come to admire.

“I… I didn’t mean to interrupt,” Lira said gently, taking a few steps closer. “But I can see that something’s weighing heavily on you.”

Bella sighed, feeling the weight of her emotions threatening to spill over. She hadn’t spoken to anyone about the full extent of her fear, not even Kael. But now, with Lira standing before her, she felt the need to confide in someone who might understand.

“I’m scared,” Bella admitted, her voice trembling. “I don’t know if I’m strong enough to carry this child. I don’t know if I’m strong enough to survive it.”

Lira’s gaze softened, and she stepped closer, placing a reassuring hand on Bella’s shoulder. “You’re stronger than your mother, Bella. Stronger than you give yourself credit for. But even strength has limits.”

Bella looked at Lira, her heart aching. “But what if I’m not enough? What if my strength can’t save me this time?”

Lira’s eyes met hers, a deep understanding in them. “You don’t have to face this alone, Bella. We’ll be here for you, no matter what.”
