The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 730

Ch. 720 / 790 May 05, 2026

The days since Misery’s warning had been heavy, filled with sleepless nights and endless discussions. Kael couldn’t escape the feeling that time was running out. The weight of the situation pressed on him relentlessly. Bella’s condition was deteriorating, her strength waning with each passing day. The rapid growth of the baby, combined with the hybrid nature of their child, was taking a toll on her in ways that no one could have predicted.

Kael knew they had to act quickly, and it wasn’t just the fear of losing Bella that drove him; it was the thought of their child. The bond they shared was undeniable, and he refused to let either of them slip away.

He had called upon the pack elders, desperate for any solution they might offer. As the council gathered in the large meeting room, Kael paced back and forth, waiting for their input. The elders, old and wise in the ways of the pack and its magic, had seen many things over the centuries, but even they were unnerved by the nature of Bella’s pregnancy.

“The hybrid bloodlines are powerful,” Elder Rowen said, his deep voice echoing through the chamber. “But they’re unpredictable. We’ve never encountered a situation quite like this before.”

Kael’s heart pounded in his chest as he looked around the table. He wasn’t sure what he was expecting from the elders, but he needed them to have an answer, something to give him hope. “What can we do?” Kael asked urgently, his voice tight with the fear that had been eating at him for days.

Elder Rowen glanced at his fellow council members, and then his gaze returned to Kael. “There is a way to stabilize Bella’s condition, but it comes with its own dangers,” he said. “We can invoke the ancient wolf magic, a powerful ritual passed down through generations. It has the ability to slow the baby’s growth and restore balance to Bella’s body.”

Kael’s eyes widened with both hope and caution. “What do you mean by ‘dangerous’?”

Rowen leaned forward, his face etched with concern. “The magic is not without cost. It demands a sacrifice, and its effects are unpredictable. There’s no telling how it will affect Bella, or the child. It could save her, or it could make things worse.”

Kael’s chest tightened as the gravity of the situation settled over him. He couldn’t lose Bella. Not now. Not when they were finally rebuilding their lives together. But at the same time, he couldn’t ask her to go through something so risky.

Bella’s voice interrupted his thoughts as she entered the room, her footsteps hesitant but steady. She had insisted on being present for the meeting, even though Kael had tried to keep her away. He didn’t want her to hear the risks, to see the uncertainty in the elders’ eyes. But Bella wouldn’t be kept in the dark any longer.

“I want to hear everything,” she said, her voice firm. She didn’t look fragile, but Kael could see the exhaustion in her eyes. Her skin had taken on a faint pallor, and the weight of her decision was beginning to show. She was determined, no matter the cost.

Kael stepped forward, his hand gently brushing her cheek. “Bella, you don’t have to be here. I’m handling this.”

“No,” she said, shaking her head. “We’re handling this. Together.”

The elders exchanged glances, and Rowen spoke again. “The magic is the only way to stabilize the pregnancy. But, Bella, it’s not guaranteed. It may not work. And even if it does, the effects on your body could be severe.”

Bella met Rowen’s gaze with a steady look. “I don’t care about the risks,” she said, her voice strong. “I’m not going to stop this pregnancy. Not when I know how much this child means to Kael—and to both of us.”

Kael’s heart clenched at her words, and for a moment, he felt a surge of pride. Bella was willing to risk everything for their child. For their family. But that pride was quickly overtaken by the overwhelming fear that threatened to consume him.

“You don’t understand, Bella,” Kael said, his voice strained. “I can’t lose you. I can’t lose either of you.”

“I know the risks,” Bella said softly, placing her hand on his chest. “But I love you, Kael. I love you both. And I’ll do whatever it takes to protect this child. We can do this. We have to.”

Kael’s breath caught in his throat as he looked at her, his heart torn. He wanted to believe in her strength, in her resolve, but the fear gnawed at him. He could see the toll the pregnancy was taking on her, and he didn’t know how much longer she could hold on.

“I’ll support you, Bella,” he said quietly. “But you have to promise me you won’t push yourself too hard. If it gets worse, we’ll find another way. I won’t let you suffer.”

Bella smiled at him, her eyes full of love and determination. “I promise, Kael. I won’t give up. Not on you, not on our baby.”

The air in the room grew heavy, the elders’ words still echoing in Kael’s mind. The magic was the only chance they had, but it was a gamble, and no one knew what the consequences would be.

As the meeting continued, Bella’s condition seemed to worsen in subtle ways. She began to sway slightly as she stood by Kael’s side, her face growing pale. Kael’s attention snapped to her as he noticed her sudden weakness. “Bella?” he asked, his voice filled with concern. “Are you alright?”

She blinked slowly, her hand clutching his arm for support. “I’m fine,” she whispered, but the words lacked conviction.

Before Kael could respond, Bella’s knees buckled beneath her. She collapsed forward into his arms, unconscious, her face pale as death.

The room fell into stunned silence. Kael’s heart skipped a beat, panic surging through him as he gently cradled her limp form. “Bella!” he shouted, his voice thick with fear. He lifted her into his arms, feeling the weight of her frailty.

The elders stood up, their faces grave, but Kael’s only concern was Bella. “What happened?” he demanded, his voice sharp, his fear turning to rage.

Rowen stepped forward, his eyes filled with sympathy. “The strain is too much for her, Kael. She’s been pushing herself too hard.”

Kael’s gaze never left Bella’s face as he gently cradled her in his arms, his heart racing. “No. This isn’t happening. Not like this.”
