The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 737

Ch. 727 / 790 May 05, 2026

Kael’s heart raced as he paced back and forth, unable to sit still in the face of Bella’s deteriorating condition. The room felt suffocating, the air thick with anxiety. He had seen Bella in pain before, but nothing like this. The very essence of her—her strength, her fiery spirit—seemed to be slipping away with every labored breath she took. It tore him apart to see her like this, to watch her fade before his eyes.

Her body was wracked with tremors, her skin cold and clammy. He could feel the power surging within her, erratic and dangerous, as her hybrid abilities spiraled out of control. The room pulsed with the unstable energy, and each burst of power felt like a violent storm raging inside her. Kael tried to reach out, to calm her, but it was like trying to tame a force of nature.

“Bella!” Kael’s voice was hoarse with desperation as he knelt by her side, his hand gently stroking her forehead. Her eyes fluttered open for a moment, meeting his, but the spark that once shone brightly in them was now dimmed, like a candle flickering in a storm.

“Please, don’t do this,” Kael whispered, his voice breaking. “I can’t lose you. Not now. Not after everything we’ve been through.”

Bella’s lips parted, and she let out a weak, labored breath. Her body shuddered beneath his touch, but she couldn’t find the strength to say anything. The power inside her felt like a volcano on the verge of eruption, and she was powerless to control it. Her hybrid nature—the very thing that made her strong—was now threatening to destroy her from the inside out.

Kael glanced up, his eyes wild, searching for some sign of hope. Misery and Lira were working furiously at the foot of the bed, trying to stabilize Bella’s erratic energy. Misery had her hands pressed to Bella’s chest, her face grim with concentration. Lira stood beside her, chanting words in a language Kael didn’t understand, her eyes closed in concentration as she tried to help control the surge of magic.

“Misery! Lira! What’s happening?!” Kael’s voice was almost frantic, the fear in his chest clawing at him. “Why isn’t this working?”

Misery looked up, her expression dark. “Her hybrid powers are out of control. The baby’s rapid growth is only exacerbating the problem. We’re doing everything we can, but—” She paused, her voice heavy with unspoken fears. “We don’t have much time. We need something stronger, something ancient.”

Kael’s gaze darted between the two women, but before he could respond, Bella’s body convulsed violently, her energy spiking once again. The pulse of power shook the room, knocking items off the shelves and sending a chill through the air. Kael’s hands flew to Bella’s, holding onto her as tightly as he could, trying to anchor her to the world they still had left.

“Hold on, Bella,” Kael pleaded, his voice barely above a whisper. He leaned closer to her, pressing his forehead to hers, the warmth of her skin searing into him. “Please, I need you. We need you. Don’t leave me.”

Bella’s body trembled beneath him, the energy surging through her veins like a wildfire. Her chest rose and fell with uneven breaths, her face pale and slick with sweat. Her once vibrant eyes were now dull, a faint trace of pain and exhaustion clouding them.

“I can’t… Kael…” Bella’s voice was barely audible, a whisper caught in her throat. “I don’t think I can do this anymore…”

Her words hit Kael like a physical blow. His heart dropped into his stomach as he stared at her, his grip tightening around her hand. “No. Don’t say that,” he begged, his voice breaking with the weight of his emotions. “You can do this. You’re stronger than this, Bella. You’re my Luna. You’ve always been strong.”

But Bella shook her head, her breathing shallow as she whispered again, her voice fading with each word. “I don’t have the strength… to fight this. It’s… too much… I’m… losing myself.”

The words struck Kael to the core, leaving him feeling as though the very foundation of his world was crumbling beneath him. The woman he loved—his rock, his anchor—was slipping away, and there was nothing he could do to stop it.

He turned to Misery, his voice desperate. “Please, you have to do something. There has to be something more we can try!”

Misery looked back at him, her expression a mixture of concern and resolve. “I’m trying, Kael. But if we don’t act soon, the baby’s power will consume her. The strain is too much. If she can’t control it… she won’t survive this.”

The room seemed to close in around Kael as he processed her words. His thoughts raced, but nothing made sense. How could this be happening? How could something so beautiful—his child, their future—be the cause of all this pain?

Kael turned back to Bella, his eyes filled with tears, but he couldn’t afford to break down. Not now. Not when she needed him the most.

“I love you, Bella,” he whispered, his voice hoarse with emotion. “I’m not giving up on you. I won’t let you go.”

Bella’s eyes flickered open once more, her gaze locking with his. She gave him a faint, almost imperceptible smile, the edges of her lips curving up despite the pain. “I love you too… Kael…”

Her voice trailed off, the words barely a whisper before her body gave another violent shudder. Her grip on his hand loosened, and Kael’s heart skipped a beat. He felt her energy slipping away, like sand through his fingers.

“No, Bella!” Kael shouted, shaking her gently, his voice breaking. “Please, you can’t leave me like this. Not now.”
