The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 738

Ch. 728 / 790 May 05, 2026

Kael sat beside Bella, his hand gripping hers tightly as she slipped in and out of consciousness. The room felt like it was closing in around him, the walls pressing in with the weight of his helplessness. Every time Bella’s breath hitched or her body shuddered, a fresh wave of panic washed over him. He had been fighting so hard to save her, but the reality of the situation was beginning to sink in. No matter how much he wanted to protect her, he couldn’t stop the dangerous spiral she was caught in.

His eyes flicked to Misery and Lira, who were still working frantically at the foot of the bed, their faces grim with concentration. They had been trying every remedy they could think of, trying to stabilize Bella’s hybrid powers and keep the baby from wreaking havoc on her body. But nothing seemed to work. The energy inside Bella was too strong, too wild, and no matter how hard they tried, the result was always the same: the baby’s rapid growth was tearing Bella apart from the inside.

“Misery, Lira,” Kael’s voice trembled with desperation as he turned to them, his hands gripping the edge of the bed. “Please. You have to do something. There has to be something we can do.”

Misery didn’t meet his eyes, instead turning her gaze toward Lira, as though silently communicating with her. The weight of the silence between them felt like a crushing burden, and Kael’s heart clenched in fear. Misery was always the one with the answers, but now even she seemed at a loss. The uncertainty hung in the air like a storm cloud, threatening to engulf them all.

Finally, Misery sighed, her voice filled with a reluctant understanding. “There is one thing we can try, but it comes with risks. We can use the medallion to suppress the baby’s energy temporarily, just enough to stabilize Bella. But it’s dangerous. The medallion’s power is unpredictable—it could harm the baby in ways we can’t foresee.”

Kael’s breath hitched at her words. The medallion. He had heard of it before, a powerful artifact that could temporarily suppress overwhelming energy, but he had never imagined it would come to this. “Isn’t there another way?” he demanded, his voice rising with the pressure building inside him.

Misery shook her head slowly. “We’ve tried everything else. Without this, Bella’s powers will continue to spiral out of control. The baby’s energy will overwhelm her completely. It’s our last option.”

Kael’s chest tightened. He could feel the weight of the decision pressing down on him, suffocating him. “And what about the baby?” he asked quietly, his voice breaking. “What will happen to it?”

Misery hesitated, her gaze darkening. “The suppression will slow the baby’s growth, but there’s a risk it could weaken it, possibly even stop its development entirely. We don’t know what will happen to the baby after the medallion’s power wears off.”

Kael’s head swam with the implications. He couldn’t lose Bella, but he also couldn’t lose their child. His heart was torn in two, each choice leading to a potential disaster. The thought of losing either of them was unbearable, but what other choice did he have?

He turned back to Bella, her face pale and gaunt, her breathing shallow. She seemed so fragile, so small in the bed, a far cry from the strong and vibrant woman he knew. He couldn’t lose her. He couldn’t.

“Kael,” Bella whispered weakly, her voice barely above a breath. Her hand twitched in his, and she opened her eyes just enough to meet his gaze. “Don’t… don’t do it.”

Kael’s heart clenched at the sound of her voice, so full of pain and fear. “Bella, please,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. “I need you to stay with me. I need you to fight. You’re all I have.”

But Bella shook her head, her strength barely enough to move. “No matter what happens, Kael… the baby comes first,” she said softly, her voice firm despite the pain that laced every word. “We can’t risk it… I won’t let you sacrifice our child.”

Tears welled in Kael’s eyes as he looked down at her, the weight of her words sinking into him. She was always so selfless, so willing to sacrifice for others, and now, even in the face of death, she was still thinking of their child before herself. It was both beautiful and heartbreaking. He wanted to protect her, but she wouldn’t let him.

“Bella…” His voice broke as he fought to keep his composure. “You’re everything to me. I can’t lose you.”

“I won’t go, Kael,” she whispered, her hand squeezing his. “I promise.”

Kael pressed his forehead to hers, unable to hold back the tears that welled in his eyes. He had fought so hard to get to this point, and now, to be faced with a decision that could tear everything apart—it felt like a nightmare he couldn’t escape.

Misery stepped forward, her voice quiet but insistent. “Kael, we have to act now. If we don’t use the medallion to stabilize her, it will be too late.”
