The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 754

Ch. 744 / 790 May 05, 2026

The walls of the fortress were crumbling around them as Kael sprinted through the chaos, Bella’s fragile form clutched tightly in his arms. His heart pounded in his chest, each step heavier than the last, but he couldn’t afford to slow down—not with Bella and their baby depending on him. The air was thick with dust and the sound of falling stone, the very ground beneath them shaking with each new blast of dark magic.

“Kael!” Bella gasped weakly, her head lolling against his shoulder. “We have to keep moving. The baby…” Her voice faltered, and her grip on the child tightened. She was still holding on, still fighting to protect the life that had come from them, but Kael could feel her strength fading.

“I’ve got you,” Kael murmured fiercely, his jaw clenched. He could feel the weight of her body, the heat of the baby pressed against her chest, and the ever-present fear of losing them both. “We’re getting out of here. I won’t let her take you again.”

Behind them, the sound of chaos continued, a symphony of growls, the crackle of dark magic, and the ever-growing rumble of the collapsing fortress. The rogue wolves, summoned by Esmera’s twisted magic, were still on their heels, and Kael knew they were running out of time. The walls were falling apart. Every step felt like it could be their last.

Misery and Lira were a few paces behind, fighting off the wolves that seemed to spring out of nowhere. Misery’s magic crackled through the air, creating barriers of energy to slow the wolves down, but even she was struggling to keep up with the wave of enemies. Lira was no less determined, her swords flashing as she cut down any wolf that came too close.

“Go! We’re almost there!” Misery shouted, her eyes filled with urgency. She created another barrier of energy, pushing a rogue wolf back into the darkness.

Kael barely spared a glance over his shoulder. He could hear the wolves snarling, feel their presence getting closer, but he didn’t stop. Not when Bella’s breathing was so shallow, not when the life of their child hung in the balance.

“Bella,” he whispered, his voice strained. He was pushing himself to his limit, but he couldn’t lose focus now. “Can you hold on?”

Bella’s eyes fluttered open, her pale face streaked with dirt and blood, but there was a fire in her eyes—a spark of determination. “I’m not going to let her win,” she said through gritted teeth. “Not now. Not when we’re this close.”

Her words were a lifeline to Kael, a reminder that they were a team, a family, and they had survived this far because they fought together. He held her tighter, moving faster, praying they could escape the fortress before it was too late.

Suddenly, Bella’s body trembled in his arms, and Kael felt a surge of energy pulse through her. For a brief moment, it was as though she had drawn from some hidden well of strength. Her hybrid powers flared, and she pushed herself upright in his arms, her grip tightening on their baby.

“I can help,” she said, her voice steady despite the exhaustion that lingered in her eyes. She closed her eyes for a moment, and when she opened them again, they burned with a fierce light. “We’re almost there. Just a little longer.”

Kael could feel the shift in her energy, the way her powers coiled around them both. She was channeling everything she had left into protecting them, into making sure they could escape the nightmare that had nearly torn them apart. Her hybrid energy surged like a wave, pushing against the enemies closing in on them. A burst of energy exploded from her, sending a handful of rogue wolves flying backward, their bodies slamming into the rubble.

“We’re almost free,” Bella murmured, her eyes focused ahead, where the path out of the fortress was just visible through the haze of smoke and dust. The exit was in sight—a narrow gap between two massive stone columns, barely wide enough for them to pass through.

Kael nodded, relief flooding through him. He could feel the distance between them and the wolves growing. They might just make it. But then, as if the fortress itself had conspired against them, a dark figure stepped into their path.

Esmera.

She stood at the exit, a cruel smile playing at the corners of her lips, her dark magic swirling around her like a storm. The air grew colder, and the hairs on the back of Kael’s neck stood up as he locked eyes with her.

“I see you’re still clinging to that false hope,” Esmera taunted, her voice a mocking whisper that carried over the sound of the collapsing fortress. She stepped forward, her fingers crackling with dark energy. “You think you can escape me? Think again, Alpha.”

Kael’s blood ran cold, and his heart sank as he stepped in front of Bella, shielding her and the baby with his body. His grip tightened on the hilt of his sword, every muscle in his body coiled in preparation for the fight that was to come.

“Get out of the way, Esmera,” Kael growled, his voice low and menacing. “This ends now. I’m not letting you hurt them.”

Esmera’s smile only widened, the darkness in her eyes deepening. “Oh, it’s already over, Kael. You just don’t know it yet.”

She raised her hand, and a surge of dark magic shot toward them, twisting the air into a vortex of shadow. Kael’s instincts kicked in, and he jumped into action, moving faster than he thought possible, but the blast was too powerful, too precise. It hit him square in the chest, sending him reeling backward, his breath knocked out of him.

Bella gasped, her energy flaring once again as she pushed herself up, her powers crackling and flashing with intensity. “No!” she shouted, but her voice was filled with desperation. “You won’t get away with this!”

Esmera chuckled darkly, her eyes gleaming with twisted satisfaction. “You’ve been a thorn in my side for far too long, Bella. And now, it’s time to say goodbye.”
