REJECTED; Mated To The Alpha I Hate

Chapter 28

Ch. 28 / 118 Apr 29, 2025

Dane's POV

“Ahh! What's that pain?” A soft cry left my lips as I clutched my head and opened my eyes gently. As soon as my eyes opened, I was greeted by the ceiling of my room in the mansion.

“How did I get here?” I pondered briefly as I lay on the bed, trying to gather my thoughts from what had happened.

Just as I was still trying to understand what had happened, I felt it again; an intense pang hit my head. At this moment, I wasted no time in sitting up on the bed.

“Fuck!” I exclaimed, clutching my head with both hands as if I were going to tear it off my body.

I struggled to keep my head in place, trying to stop the intense pain when suddenly, it hit me. Everything that had happened came reeling back. Right from last night till now.

I couldn't help but recall fighting the rogues to save my pack. I also tried my best to stay alive, not just for myself, but for Astrid and my pack.

“That's right, Astrid!” My eyes snapped wide open as I let go of my head.

Realising this, the pain that had taken over me the minute I woke up immediately stopped as if it were compelled to.

I felt relieved that the pain had stopped, but I wasn't happy not seeing Astrid by my bedside. She was supposed to be on my bed if she had been found, and I recalled ordering Beta Ivar to find her.

“She must have...” I was going to say inwardly when the doors to my room were suddenly pushed open, making me snap my gaze in that direction.

“Alpha Dane! You are awake!” Beta Ivar exclaimed with joy as he ran towards me.

One could decipher the excitement in his voice, and it pleased me but didn't make me happy.

“Alpha Dane, I'm glad you are awake. When you passed out, I thought you'd never wake up again. Thank the Moon Goddess for saving your life! Our Alpha is Alive” Ivar said as he came closer, sitting right next to me. He forgot that he was my beta, and if anyone came into the room and saw us like this, it would mean nothing but scandal.

Turning to look at him with a glare on my face, his smile immediately changed to one of confusion.

“Are you okay, Alpha Dane? Your face doesn't look like you are…” He lifted his hand to reach for my face, but fortunately for me, I caught his hand and tossed it aside.

“Get up from my bed… now!” I commanded. Seeing that I wasn't in the mood for any of his jokes, he swiftly obeyed, standing to his feet without thinking twice.

“I'm sorry, Alpha!” He bowed his head, his voice reducing to that of a Beta who had respect for his Alpha, just as it should be.

It wasn't that I didn't like Ivar. I loved him, but it was best we kept our distance in some situations.

“What did you mean by you thought I was never going to wake up?” I asked, slowly turning to look at him.

“You… you passed out in the car, and you were really bleeding. I was there to help you, and…” Just as he was going to keep explaining, I cut him off like his words didn't mean a thing to me.

“Where is Astrid? Has she been found?” I questioned, Ivar's eyes snapping to my direction immediately.

He couldn't believe what I was saying at this moment.

“What?” He exclaimed, his brows creased as he stared into my eyes.

“Didn't you hear me, or should I repeat myself with a punishment?” I asked, scowling at him as I waited for his response.

“No… I'm sorry, Alpha Dane!” He stuttered, shaking his head twice before bowing and taking his gaze off me.

“Astrid… Luna Astrid hasn't been found yet!” He corrected himself as he responded, and I couldn't help but tighten my fist.

“Who sent the rogues to my pack?” I inquired, my intense glare directed out of the room.

“I'm not sure about that, Alpha Dane… we are still trying to find out who did it, who wanted to take down the Red Moon pack!” He announced, and I instantly scoffed, drawing his attention back to me.

“Still trying to find out? What a team!” I rolled my eyes as I stood up from the bed.

Swiftly, I walked over to the wardrobe and grabbed my jacket from it.

“Where are you going, Alpha Dane?” Ivar asked as soon as he saw me putting on my jacket.

“What does it look like, Ivar? Since you guys are delaying the process, why don't I go find out myself? My mate has been out of the mansion for so long that it's beginning to suffocate! I can't let that continue!”

I immediately walked over to the door, but just as I was about to leave, Beta Ivar rushed over and pushed it closed.

“You can't leave, Alpha Dane!” He announced, making my brows crease immediately.

“Excuse me?” I scoffed In annoyance.

“I don't mean to be disrespectful, Alpha Dane, but you shouldn't leave the mansion. You are not fully recovered. Besides, the doctor hasn't seen you… let's wait for his check-up!”

Beta Ivar suggested, trying to change my mind, but I had already decided to find Astrid, and nothing was going to stop me. Taking two steps closer to Ivar, I glared into his eyes.

“Get out of my way… don't make this like last night because I won't hesitate to run over you!” I warned him.

“But you…” Before he could utter a single word more, I pushed him out of the way.

I reached for the door handle, pulled the door open, and stormed out of the room.

At this point, there was just one person on my mind; just one person made me feel furious, and that was Alpha Halfdan who had rejected Astrid and would stop at nothing to mock me using her.

‘I won't take it lightly if you have my mate, Halfdan!’ my fist clenched as my gaze remained fixed on the door before me.

The exit was my aim.
