Dane's POV.
“What do you want from me, Alpha Dane?” Astrid voice reverberated in my head as I walked down the hallway, my mind hovering on the fact that she had messed up earlier.
Thank the Moon goddess that I was there on time to stop her from making me look like a fool before both Alpha Halfdan and Camilla his cunning Luna.
She had obviously mocked me going there but maybe she didn't realise it. I wished to vent my fury on her but I just couldn't explain why I felt that way, why I held back my rage.
Soon, I arrived before my study and without hesitation, I went into it, my thoughts still fixed on Astrid as I put on my shirt.
I was going to study a bit and I couldn't do that without a shirt. As I buttoned up my shorty, I recalled the moment her hand was placed on my chest.
It was thrilling, it felt insanely pleasing to feel her hand on my chest but how could I show it to her when she was the enemy.
“Get a hold of yourself, Dane!” I said with a deep voice. I swiftly walked over to my chair and immediately, I started studying.
I was getting deeper into my study but just as I was going to flip to the next page, my door got pushed open forcefully and just one person could do that.
“What do you want this time, Beta Ivar?” I asked as I didn't lift my head to look at him. His entrance into the study had jolted me briefly but there was no way I was going to show it that I was thrilled by his sudden burst into the room.
He had kept quiet and I disliked it when I get delayed response. I didn't hesitate to lift my head to look at Beta Ivar.
I was expecting to see him make mockery of me with his face but to my surprise, I saw Beta Ivar panting none stop with sweats all over his body and face. It had soaked his clothes at this moment and it made me realise that what was happening was more than I had imagined.
“Ivar? What's wrong?” I asked, my focus on him as I waited for him to explain it all to me.
“Alpha Dane, the Redmoon pack is in trouble tonight!” He notified, still trying to catch his breath as he stood erect and bowed his head to me.
“In trouble? What is that supposed to mean?” I asked, my brows furrowing as I stood to my feet, still staring at him.
“The Rogues, Alpha Dane..” he paused his statement the second his eyes met mine. God a second, I had hoped and prayed that it wasn't what I was thinking.
With slow but determined strides, I walked over to where Beta Ivar was standing and with my eyes searching his for any form of hope, all I saw was pain, Anger and fear.
“The Rogues are on their way to the Redmoon Pack, Alpha Dane!” He notified me and immediately, my fist cl nched tightly.
I guess there was no way I could stop what was already happening, what was going to come to passed would do so.
I felt fury raging in me at this statement and I couldn't stand back and watch the Rogue's attack my pack. If it was war they wanted, then I'd give it to them.
“You are sure about this, Beta Ivar?” I asked again just to be certain.
“Yes, Alpha Dane … our spies from the other pack has confirmed it!” he nodded in response to my question.
“Fine!” I declared, turning my back against him. “Gather everyone, no one must be left behind! Everyone must be ready!” I commanded.
“Sound the alarm and make sure that each pack member are sent into their houses. I wouldn't want anyone to die in the process. Is that clear?” I gave my order.
“Yes, Alpha Dane!” Beta Ivar responded and swiftly, he bowed his head and headed out.
I felt bad knowing that they were coming to the pack but what have I done to make them come attavk me this way? I pondered, my thoughts all over the place as I couldn't bring myself to understand their reasons for attacking my pack.
Seeing that there was no more time, I began to get ready..just as I was going to reach for my dagger on my drawer, u suddenly.felt a ache on my heart.
“Fuck!” I exclaimed in pain as I held my chest. It was obvious that the pain from the full moon Still lingered.
I was still weak but there was no way I could ignore my pack because of one silly pain. I got the dagger and put it in my pants at the back.
Soon, the noises that came from outside my room drew my attention and I was left with nothing but readiness to deal with them all, to deal with the rogues coming at me.
“Let's see what they've got!” I headed towards my door. The second I reached for the knob, ready to walk out of the room, I was halted by the voice of Astrid.
I immediately recalled how reckless she could be. I couldn't ignore her presence. Without hesitation, I turned on my heels and headed for her room where she was.
Getting closer, I was surprised to find herewith Beta Ivar. My fist clenched as I saw her hand on his too.
I walked over to where she was standing with Ivar and without a second delay, I grabbed a hand and dragged her into the room, fury etched across my face.
The second we came to a stop, she didn't hesitate to speak up.
“Don't you think you should avoid this war?” She suddenly felt concerned towards me and I couldn't help but feel a thrill in my heart.
It was just her that had cared about me, that had cared about what I wanted and wished for. I really wished to appreciate it but then, I didn't want to show my soft side to her.
So it was best to ignore her.
“No matter what, don't leave the room… don't be reckless tonight or else, you'll face the consequences alone!” I warned sternly band I could see both fear and anger written all over her face.
I swiftly turned on my heels and just as I was going to walk out on her, Astrid rushed towards me and from behind, she embraced me, her arms tightly wrapping around my body.
“What's this? Why is she acting this way? We aren't friends!” I said to myself as my eyes widened in shock.
“You might hate me, Alpha Dane but please, come back to me…”
