Dane's POV.
Heading back to the mansion or the main building, I couldn't help but recall every single word the rogue had said to me when I kept torturing him. Edmond had some nerves to take My Luna and think this was a game.
“I'll make you pay dearly for what you've done, Edmond! By the time he gets to the public and reveals your evil intentions, you'll have no way, no right to deny it!” I said inwardly as my focus and attention were now fixed on the mansion ahead.
Getting to the door, I wasted no time in pushing it open and walking into it. If there was anything that mattered at this moment, it definitely was going to see Astrid.
Although I was angry or mad about what Edmond had done, I still couldn't contain or suppress the joy I felt knowing that my mate is actually back in the mansion.
Without a single delay, I headed right for her room. Beta Ivar has been with her since I left so I was certain that she was in good hands.
“Alpha Dane!” Beta Ivar bowed his head the second he saw me walking closer to where he was standing, staring at the room door like there was an encrypted message on the door.
“What's the update?” I asked with a deep tone the second I came to an abrupt halt before him.
“She's inside with the doctor. He came to the mansion the minute you left... I was going to call you, but you were already far gone to go meet the criminals!” He responded swiftly, his focus fixed on me.
“Thank you, I'll be going in now!” I was going to walk into the room to see Astrid but without thinking twice, Beta Ivar got a strong grip on my hand, halting me right in my tracks.
“Is there a problem?” I questioned as I turned to him, my left brow arching in curiosity.
“Not at all, Alpha Dane, it's just that the Doctor would like to be alone with her for a while. That was what he said and I think we should just deal with that for a few more minutes,” he suggested calmly.
I paused for a second. I really wished to see Astrid, but then, it was best that she healed up first. I walked over to the wall, and thinking about Astrid, I leaned on it, my back meeting and colliding with the cold wall in the mansion.
As I stood for a while, I noticed Beta Ivar stealing glances at me every second of the day. It made me pretty uncomfortable for a split second that I couldn't hold it back.
“What is wrong, Beta Ivar? Why the stares? Did you forget one of your valuables on me?” I questioned, squinting my eyes as I stared at him. He was scared to speak up so I gave him the courage to do so.
“No, no Alpha… it's just that I'm curious about what happened back there in the cell… did… did they talk about who sent them?” He asked, stuttering in fear.
A smile tugged at my lips seeing how scared he was for a split second but then, I had to still respond to his question.
“He spoke…” I began, my fist clenching at this point as I recalled what had happened back there.
“And?” Beta Ivar pushed, wanting to know more about what had happened back at the cell between me and the other Rogues.
“And I have found out who sent them, Beta Ivar… we must make Edmond pay for what he dared to do!” My teeth gritted as I felt nothing but intense anger staring at Beta Ivar.
“Edmond did it? He is really behind this? What would he gain by doing such?” Ivar probed like he didn't know what Edmond wanted.
“Are you kidding me right now, Ivar? Isn't it obvious? He wanted something, either to kill me or to know my weakness… I knew all along that he wanted to know more about me but then I didn't let him!” I shook my head as I explained.
“Seeing he can't get closer to me, he went through my mate. He fucking punishes her and that's one thing I can't forgive! I must make him see that what he has done isn't right!” I declared, my anger boiling to its peak.
“What do we do now that we know he's the one, Alpha Dane?” Beta Ivar questioned as he took a few steps closer to where I stood.
“Summon the elders and pack members to the mansion by tomorrow; I can't wait for Edmond to get banished publicly!” I let out, and immediately, Beta Ivar nodded his head.
“Yes, Alpha Dane!” He bowed in respect as he took my orders.
He swiftly turned on his heels and left the mansion, heading out to go carry out the command that I had just given him.
A few seconds after he left, the door to Astrid's room finally opened, and I wasted no time in running towards the Doctor who had come out of the room.
“And?” I inquired, wanting to know about her situation. My eyes bulged with fear and my heart raced with intense curiosity. I needed to know about her; I needed to know what was going on with her.
“She'll be fine within a few hours, Alpha Dane… she just needs rest!” He declared, and instantly, I nodded my head.
“Just rest, right?” I asked just to get sure that I wasn't hearing something else.
“Yes, Alpha Dane, she suffered a lot these few days, and getting full-time rest is all that she needs!” He explained briefly before bowing to me.
“I'd like to take my leave now!” He seemed to ask for permission before turning on his heels and dashing out of the pack's mansion.
Releasing a soft sigh, I walked into the room, shutting the door behind me immediately.
The second I got closer to where she was lying, I wasted no time in sitting down right beside her on her bed.
“I've missed you so much, Astrid!” I mumbled as I slowly reached for her hair, tucking it behind her ear.
At this point, her face was pretty clear to me and all I wished for was a taste of her lips. My heart began to pound faster than ever, and I salivated just to get a taste of her.
I wanted to resist the urge but I couldn't as I found myself leaning closer to her face. It was obvious that my inner wolf was at play here.
The second I got closer, I found myself pressing my lips on hers. I instantly felt my heart melting with so much love and compassion.
“Get a hold of yourself, Dane!” I sat up immediately with a gasp leaving my lips. “I can't be here, I need to leave!” I mumbled to myself.
Just as I stood up to leave the room, Astrid's sudden groan pulled me back to her. Turning to look at her, I noticed her rumpled brows and the sad look on her face. She was going through pain.
I walked back to her bedside and with a deep sigh, I took her hand in mine.
“I shouldn't do this!” I whispered but then, it was important.
With my eyes briefly shut, I linked my wolf to hers as I began to drain the pain she felt. I took in the pain while she became calm and okay.
After doing it for a few minutes, I let go of her hand, and seeing she was perfectly okay now, I turned on my heels.
I was going to leave the room when an intense pang hit me, making me clutch my head in pain.
“Fuck! Stop, please!” I mumbled as I tightened my eyes shut.
Briefly opening my eyes to head to my study, I felt dizzy, and before I could control myself, I found my body limply collapsing to the ground, the thudding sound of my collapse resounding deeply in my ears.
“What's happening to me?” My eyes felt heavy, and I couldn't help but black out at this point.
