Dane's POV.
I felt so uncomfortable, so tense about the situation at hand. If there was anything I wanted, it was definitely to find my mate, to get my mate back to the mansion strong and alive.
As I placed my hands on my hips, I began to pace in circles in my study room. I couldn't get my mind off her; I couldn't stop thinking about finding Astrid.
“She must be found! She has to!” I began to mumble to myself. I bet anyone who saw me in such a situation would think that I was insane.
They would tag me as the Alpha who went mad right from the day his mate went missing, and that would never be nice.
Just as I kept pacing around, a knock came at the door, lifting my mood immediately. I wasn't expecting anyone other than Beta Ivar.
He was the only one who knew about Astrid and the only one who could give me information about her whereabouts.
The knock came again, and this time, it was intense.
“Come in, Beta Ivar!” I commanded in a deep voice.
The door opened, and just as I was expecting to see Beta Ivar entering my study room, I saw the doctor coming in.
“And what are you doing here? Who let you in here?” I asked in a deep tone, a sense of anger gnawing at my nerves as I sighted him.
I disliked it so much when I was expecting someone else, and a total stranger came in without my permission.
“I'm sorry I'm not the one you are expecting, but Alpha Dane, it is time for the check-up…” he announced, his voice low and shaky. I could sense that he was scared of coming into the study.
I didn't want to look like a bad Alpha, but I really needed to get the next information about Astrid's whereabouts.
“Fine!” I finally let out, knowing that Beta Ivar would come to me when he was done with whatever he was doing. I could use the doctor as a form of distraction for a while.
“What do you want me to do?” I asked, my focus on him at this moment.
“Sit and I'll check your pulse and other things!” He informed me, and I didn't hesitate to do as he said.
He walked over to me and, with fear, reached for my hand. I wasn't sure what he was checking, but one thing I knew was that he needed to be fast and leave.
After a few minutes of checking up on me, he let go of my hand.
“What are the results?” I inquired, my voice deep as I stared at him.
“You are fine now, Alpha Dane... You just need to slow down a bit on worrying. It could worsen the situation of your health!” He let out, and without a second hesitation, I nodded my head.
“You may leave now!” I ordered him, and without hesitation, he turned on his heels and walked out of the room.
“I worry too much? What a joke!” I scoffed as I stood to my feet and kept pacing in worry. I wasn't going to be calm unless I knew where Astrid was.
Just as I kept moving in circles, the door suddenly opened again without a knock this time.
“Is he back already? Why are you…” I turned on my heels, ready to reprimand whoever had come into my study, but to my utmost shock and satisfaction, I found Beta Ivar panting before me.
“Ivar? What's wrong?” I rushed towards him, trying to get him to spill the news.
“It's Edmond, Alpha Dane! Your…” he paused again, trying to catch his breath, which disgusted me to the core.
“Speak up, Ivar!” I commanded, my voice deep and heavy as I glared at him. He knew how much I disliked it, how much I hated it when the information I needed was delayed, and yet, he was doing it.
“I'm sorry, Alpha Dane…” he stood erect at this moment.
“Astrid has been found, and we need to get there fast before she dies!” He finally let out, my heart skipping a beat at the sound of his statement.
“No! Never! My mate won't die!” With a tightened fist, I stormed out of the study with Beta Ivar following me from behind.
I headed straight for where the car was parked, and without thinking twice, I climbed into it, shutting the door.
Beta Ivar did so too. He swiftly turned on the engine, and without a second delay, we zoomed out of the pack's mansion, heading right for where the spies had led us to.
At this point, I could only imagine myself grabbing Edmond by his throat and ripping it off without thinking twice.
“Your luck has run out, Edmond!” I snarled as I struck my hand on the chair I was on.
“Go faster, Beta Ivar!” I commanded in a deep voice.
Beta Ivar was trying his best to do as I said, but it wasn't enough. He wasn't driving with the kind of speed I wanted or needed.
If we were going to catch up with them, then we needed to go faster than we were. After all, it wasn't in our pack. We were heading to an unknown place.
“Didn't you hear me the first time? I said, "Drive faster!” I commanded again, and because Beta Ivar was scared, I couldn't help but notice his grip around the wheel of the car tremble.
“It'll mean the traffic staff stopping us, Alpha Dane. The rules of the pack…” he was going to say, but I cut in with anger.
“How dare you speak of the rules of the pack, Beta Ivar? I am the Alpha of the Redmoon pack, and as it stands, I am the rule! You either move this car faster or I will make you regret not doing so. Trust me, Beta Ivar, you wouldn't want the second option!”
I warned with my glare fixed on him, and because he didn't want me to get mad at him, he increased his speed.
“That's more like it,”
