Dane's POV.
Watching Astrid rush into the bathroom after thanking me was a feeling I wished to carry everywhere I went. A smile curled up on my lips, and I had forgotten about the rage that coursed through my veins concerning Edmond.
Without hesitation, I turned to the door. Recalling that Beta Ivar had misbehaved, I didn't hesitate to walk towards the door. Opening it, I found Beta Ivar standing by the door with his head bowed to me instantly.
“What the hell did you do that for?” I snapped again, trying my best to keep my voice low so that Astrid wouldn't hear me speak.
“I'm sorry, Alpha Dane!” He apologised, not wanting to carry the issue further. There was every possibility that Ivar could argue with me, but he chose not to, and that was the best decision he had ever made.
“Sorry for yourself, Ivar!” I uttered through gritted teeth as I stared at him. “Next time you try pulling such a stunt, I won't hesitate to make you pay dearly! Is that clear?” I warned, my eyes fixed right on him.
“Yes, Alpha!”
The second he responded, I wasted no time in turning on my heels and walking out of the room. He immediately followed me from behind, trying to match my walking pace.
“Are they well tied? Are you sure they are still in their cells?” I asked in a deep voice as I walked towards the exit of the mansion.
“Yes, Alpha Dane… they'll be sent out once they are called upon!” He notified, and I immediately nodded in acceptance.
Getting closer to the door, I halted for a split second. What I was going to do wasn't easy; it required more strength and patience. There was every possibility that I could storm up to Edmond and attack him. I needed to control myself as it stood.
“Alpha Dane, are you okay?” Beta Ivar asked, noticing my halt in movement.
“Let's go!” I declared, pushing the doors open and walking over to the fields, ignoring his show of care or concern.
“Alpha Dane!!!” One of my Gammas called out, and immediately, everyone bowed their heads at the sound of my name and at my presence.
They dared not look at me as I made my way to my seat; it would mean getting me more furious. Climbing the podium where my seat was placed, I didn't hesitate to sit on it.
“Rise!” I commanded, and they did as I had commanded without hesitation.
Scanning through the crowd, my eyes suddenly met with those of Edmond, and I couldn't help but notice the glint of evil in his stare.
He also had a vile sneer on his lips, which made me wonder what was at play. He was supposed to be scared, but he seemed like he was happy and would never be scared.
“Edmond!” My fist clenched as I glared at him. I felt like rushing up to him and punching him several times in his face without looking back. He had made me so angry that taking pity on him was no longer an option.
As I kept glaring at him, I couldn't help but get drawn to the left side of the crowd by the sudden loud chatter and gossip.
It was as though my hearing abilities had intensified, and I wasn't sure why, but what they said infuriated me.
“Luna? What a joke!” One of them said, obviously making fun of Astrid.
“They should have just left her where she was so she could be killed! Of what use is she to us?” Another spoke up with a tone tinged with mockery.
“Right! She deserves to die anyway. I bet Alpha Halfdan must have fucked and banged her all night before he rejected her!”
I would have ignored the fact that they were against my Luna, my mate, but hearing them talk about how Halfdan fucked her made me feel disgusted.
“We hate her, and I bet Alpha Dane hates her too! She's nothing but a sex slave in the hands of every Alpha!”
They all laughed at this point, and immediately, I stormed to my feet, drawing the attention of everyone to myself.
“Alpha Dane, is everything okay?” Beta Ivar questioned with a whisper, but I didn't say a single word to him.
With anger coursing through my veins, I began to stride towards the crowd. Climbing down from the podium, I didn't hesitate to move towards them.
Everyone who stood in my way immediately shifted, making a path for me to walk through.
The second I got to stand before the five of them, my fist clenched. Glaring at them meant nothing seeing how they bowed their heads to me to avoid making eye contact.
“Raise your heads!” I commanded, my voice deep and authoritative.
“No, Alpha Dane! We can't… we can't lift our heads!” One of them stuttered, making me snort immediately.
Without thinking twice, I punched him so hard in the face that he fell to the ground, clutching his tummy tightly. Everyone began to mumble. It was certain that they'd see me as a ruthless Alpha, but little did they know that the men before me were nothing but evil.
“I said… lift your heads now!” I commanded again, and seeing what I did to the one that spoke up for them, they didn't delay in lifting their heads to me.
I could see the fear in their eyes, I could see their eyes tremble before me.
“Now, I'll ask this, and I need a responsible answer… who made fun of my Luna and spoke about her in the most immoral way?” I questioned, my eyes glancing through the five of them.
Truth was, I knew who it was; I just needed to get him to speak. I wanted him to hand himself over.
“Didn't you hear me?” I looked at them; they could only tremble and not say a single word to me.
“We… we are sorry, Alpha Dane!” Another mumbled with fear, and because that wasn't what I wanted to hear, I didn't hesitate to grab him by the neck and pull him closer to my face.
“Who made a mockery of my Luna?”
