Astrid's POV:
“Where am I?” I mumbled as I opened my eyes slowly. It felt heavy, but most of all, I felt comfort. It was clear that I wasn't at the warehouse anymore, and the light that first greeted me the second I opened my eyes proved me right.
“Am I…” I gasped as I fluttered my eyes open wide, looking around the place. It was clear that I wasn't just picked away in some old rusty place anymore. I was safe, I was okay.
“Thank the Moon Goddess for this, thank the Moon Goddess for saving me!” I prayed silently as I sat up on the bed.
At this point, I needed to get the full explanation of how I got saved from the warehouse because the last I checked, I had blacked out after the rogue had tortured me, and I couldn't tell what happened next.
“Could it be him that brought me back to the mansion?” I mumbled but shook my head almost immediately, trying to dispel the thoughts of Alpha Dane helping me out.
“It can't be possible, he can't be the one!”
I climbed out of the bed, ready to use the bathroom, but the second I was going to take a step, I was startled to find someone who looked like Alpha Dane on the ground.
“What happened to him?” I asked inwardly, curiosity gnawing at my nerves as I slowly walked up to the man lying on the ground.
“Alpha Dane?” I snapped as I went closer, crouching down on my knees as I shook his body.
I wasn't sure why he was on the floor, but I was tense seeing such a sight. It was as though he couldn't control himself and had fallen.
“I need to get help…” I was going to stand up from the ground and run out of the room to get help, but just as I tried standing, Alpha Dane's voice halted me right in my tracks.
I wasn't sure what he was saying because all I could hear were mumbles from his lips.
At this point, I felt a bit relieved. At least, he was still alive and wasn't unconscious.
“You scared me, Dane!” I said before I reached for his hand to help him up. Trust me, it was a big task. He had so much weight that he almost pulled me to the ground, but I tried my best to hold onto him.
It wouldn't be nice if I dropped him to the ground. Who was I kidding? He fell out of my grip countless times. It wasn't my fault he had so much weight.
Finally getting him into my bed, I didn't hesitate to cover him up while I tried my best to catch my breath.
Staring at him up close, I couldn't help but wonder why he was on the ground and what he had been saying to me.
“If he's in this room, does that mean he saved me? Is it possible that he doesn't want me dead already?” I thought as my focus was fixed on him.
I reached for his hand and massaged it gently. I couldn't help but wonder what kind of Alpha he truly is.
One minute he cared so much about me, the next minute, he didn't give a damn about what I thought or what I was doing.
“I really wish you would change and become the kind of Alpha his pack members will admire!” I begged softly as I held his hand in mine.
I was still staring at him, trying to advise an unconscious Alpha when I recalled being held by someone in this same room.
My head tilted to the side as I tried to get my hands on what had really happened while I was lying in the bed.
Just as I kept thinking, my eyes caught sight of the needles placed on the nightstand.
“A doctor was here?” I gasped in fear, knowing that I was in huge trouble. I swiftly let go of Alpha Dane's hand and dragged myself out of the room.
Luckily for me, Beta Ivar wasn't positioned before the door, so it was pretty easy for me to leave. I was going to head for the exit of the mansion, but luckily for me, I found Alpha Dane's study room open a bit.
Since he was in my room, there was definitely no reason for his door to be opened at such an hour.
“Someone must be inside!” I reached for the handle of the door, and without thinking twice, I pushed it open.
The second I got into the room, I found the doctor I had been looking for, my heart racing rapidly.
“Luna… you are finally awake!” He bowed his head in respect as he saw me. I wasn't sure what he was doing, but I needed to make him understand one thing: my secret must be kept.
“Yes, yes… thanks to your treatment!” I chuckled nervously as I walked closer to where he was standing.
“You know, Luna… you shouldn't be here. You should be resting!” He explained with a smile on his face.
“I know I should, but I… I can't,” I opened up, but he didn't understand me a bit.
“Why are you here, Luna Astrid? I think you should go back to your room!” He urged, but I shook my head immediately.
“I'm here to see you, Doctor, and I won't be comfortable if I don't let you know about this…” I started, swallowing nervously.
“I am…” I was going to say, but immediately, he took the words out of my mouth.
“Pregnant? I'm a doctor, I knew the second I laid my fingers on you. Congratulations… I bet Alpha Dane can't wait to hear this!” He was happy and excited about the news, but I wasn't, not even for a single second.
How was I going to explain to him that Alpha Dane wasn't the father of my child? How was I going to explain to him that I was pregnant after a one-night stand with a stranger and that was the reason my father banished me from the pack? How the hell do I explain all this to him?
“Luna, you are sweating, are you okay? You should be happy!” He stated as he grinned from ear to ear.
“No… no, Doctor…” I shook my head, biting hard on my lips.
“What do you mean by no, Luna?” He came closer to where I was standing.
“No matter what, Doctor… Alpha Dane mustn't know that I am pregnant with a child!”
He'd definitely kill me before I knew it!
