As he was walking closer, his eyes were darting between Daniella and the security man.
When he got to the entrance door, Daniella spun around to face him. Her demeanor shifted slightly as she realized someone in authority had showed up. Someone who may know who she is.
"Finally," she said with exaggerated exasperation. "Someone who I know will have some common sense."
The deputy manager frowned slightly as he looked at Daniella. He has not seen her physically before. Desmond has once shown them his woman on the phone.
"You must be Mrs. Daniella." He said cautiously. "The CEO’s wife."
"Exactly! I know you will know who I am." Daniella snapped and pointed her finger at the security guard. "This man has been keeping me from entering the building, treating me like some kind of intruder!"
"Are you serious?" The deputy manager asked.
"Why will I be standing here if not that he's blocking my way? I went on to explain myself to him, and he went on to threaten that he will kick me out." Daniella said, and the security guard opened his mouth to protest, but the deputy manager raised a hand to stop him. He turned back to Daniella and spoke in a calm tone. "I apologize for the misunderstanding, Mrs. Daniella. He doesn't know who you are. I believe he was just following protocol."
Daniella scoffed and folded her arms. "Following protocol? Is that supposed to excuse his behavior? Listen, I don’t care about your protocol. What I care about is being treated with the respect I deserve. As the CEO’s wife and the soon-to-be CEO, I should be given unrestricted access to this building!"
The deputy manager glanced at the security guard, who looked visibly tense. He knew what would be going on in the man's mind. At that point, his job was at stake.
"I’ll speak with him about it. I'm sure he won't repeat it again. In the meantime, I can escort you inside." The deputy manager said, but Daniella wasn’t finished.
"No need to speak to him because he won't be here to repeat it again." She said and turned back to the security guard. "For disrespecting me and wasting my time, you are fired. Effective immediately. You have no business working here anymore."
The security guard’s eyes widened slightly, but before he could say anything, the deputy manager
"Mrs. Daniella. I know why you want him out, but unfortunately, there is no one available to replace him right now. Firing him would leave the position vacant, and security is a critical function of the company."
"Fine." She said and turned back to the guard. "Just count yourself lucky this morning. And I will advise you to pray I change my mind. For now, your days here are numbered." She said, and the security guard remained silent.
As Daniella swept past him and into the lobby, her heels began to click loudly against the polished floor. The deputy manager walked alongside her, still confused by Daniella's words. She had said something about becoming the new CEO. "Does Desmond want to hand over the company to his wife?" He kept asking himself as they walked.
Daniella radiated an undeniable aura of authority as she walked. Heads turned in every direction, employees pausing mid-task to steal glances at the woman who walked with such unshakable confidence.
Whispers began to fly through the air as workers exchanged hushed comments about her sudden presence. Few workers recognized her immediately as the CEO’s lover, while others looked on in confusion, wondering who this bold and striking figure was.
Daniella carried herself like a boss she was looking forward to becoming. Her chin was slightly tilted upward as if to emphasize her superiority over everyone around her. Her eyes flitted across the offices and glass partitions, scanning the company’s sleek interiors, practically checking everything she would soon claim as her own.
