"Uh, who’s this?" Bella asked in surprise. "And what is she doing here with you?" Desmond's mother looked at Grace and then at Desmond, waiting for an explanation. Desmond didn't say anything. He was wondering what they were even doing in his house.
Grace stepped aside, clutching her washing equipment. "Nothing, I’m just a cleaner. Mr. Desmond hired me to clean the house. I'm leaving now. Thank you again, Mr. Desmond." She gave a polite nod to Bella and Mrs. Elizabeth before stepping out the door.
Mrs. Elizabeth continued to stare at her from the back, as if trying to gauge whether there was more to the story.
As soon as the door closed, Desmond spoke up. "And what are you guys doing in my house? I didn't remember inviting two of you. What the hell are both of you doing in my house!"
"We....we came to see you. We heard what happened." His mother answered.
"Now that you have seen me, can you leave my house now?"
"Oh, son. It hadn't gotten to that. I know we have wronged you. You have the right to blame me for all that happened. I'm sorry. We are here to, at least, stay with you so you wouldn't feel lonely." His mother said.
"Lonely? You’re worried about me feeling lonely?" Desmond asked. "After everything the two of you did, you have the audacity to show up here and act concerned?"
"We are actually concerned. You are my son. I didn't mean to hurt you in any way. I care for you." His mom said.
"Care?" Desmond asked. "Let me remind you exactly how much your so-called care has ruined my life! You are the ones who pushed Daniella into my life. You told me she was perfect, that she will make me happy. You convinced me that marrying her was the best thing I could do, and you made me believe it! And now, after she has betrayed me, you dare to act like you care?"
"Desmond, please...." Bella tried to plead, but Desmond interrupted immediately. "No! You supported Mother. I was living in peace with Anabel until you guys came and scattered my marriage. I divorced my lovely wife and welcomed a woman whose intention was to destroy me."
"Desmond, we are not denying the fact that we were wrong. We thought we were making the right decision for you. Daniella seemed like a good match, and we believed she would bring you happiness when she got pregnant. I thought you were the one who got her pregnant. I never knew she had an agender. Please don't kick us out. We are sorry. We are here so we can make amends."
"Do you have any idea what I’ve been through because of your choices? Do you understand the pain I feel every single day? Daniella used me, lied to me, and betrayed me. And you—my own family... you guys are the ones who instigated her in my life." Desmond yelled out of frustration, and Bella stepped closer to him. "Desmond, we didn’t know. We thought we were helping you. Daniella fooled us all. She wasn’t the person we believed her to be. You know we always care for you."
"Helping me? You call this helping? You and Mom destroyed my marriage to Annabel because she thought Daniella was better. And now Daniella has messed my life up."
"Desmond, we know we have hurt you, but we love you. You are my son, and I want to make things right. Please." The mother said, and Desmond took a deep breath and shook his head, trying to wave off the frustrations.
