What nonsense!
How dare he bring my father into this?
It's his fault that Melody is sad. It's his fault that she is hurt. It's his fault that Melody is hurt and he blames me.
I wasn't even there neither was my father so how is this my family's fault?
"You bunch of selfish low lives. You ruined us all!"
Dorian's paws scratched my arm before I realised what was happening.
My eyes turned dark but I still tried to stay calm. I wanted to act reasonably and not on impulse. I was pissed that's for sure but for Melody, I was trying to be the better man.
"Calm down and tell me what really happened."
I tried to sound calm and nice but I don't know how it sounded to Dorian because instead of being calm he was the opposite.
He attempted to scratch my face but I ducked. However, my chin couldn't escape.
"Shit. Dorian will you just calm down!" I yelled as I pushed him backwards so that he wouldn't be able to attack me till I was stable.
"I can't stay calm as long as you're around!" He hissed and dashed towards me again.
"Really?"
So, It's me now.
I'm the reason for his fury. But how?
"You know I won't understand unless you tell me what it is," I demanded peacefully.
"Every monster says that!" Dorian yelled and kicked me.
I stepped back and avoided his kick.
"You are just like your evil father!" He spat and came at me again.
I don't even know what he is on about. I don't know how I have wronged him or what I've done to make him so furious. I came in peace to show my appreciation and this is what I get.
It's the first time I'd ever try to be humble but it's already going wrong even before the trial.
"Dorian," I made another attempt to calm him down. "You need to calm down and tell me what....."
"I have nothing to say to you!" He kicked me hard in the chest and this time he got me.
I wasn't prepared for the kick. I was more focused on getting through to him. I felt pain in my chest and grunted and I brought myself to stand up.
That was the last straw.
I dusted dirt off my body and faced Dorian ready to fight back.
"I want you dead. To rid the world of one more monster."
I stood still and waited for Dorian to get close enough to attack me. As soon as he was close I threw a punch to his neck.
He growled and staggered backwards.
"You can't kill me. No one can." I snarled. "If I'm to die by anyone's hand, then it's Melody."
Yes. Only Melody gets to kill me.
I have dedicated my life to her as repayment for everything I did to her.
"Do you still think you can have Melody?" Dorian laughed out loud. "You're an amazing dreamer."
I don't know if it's a dream or if it will happen in reality but I'm willing to do anything to make it happen.
"I don't want to hurt you, Dorian."
I suddenly became calm once again as it dawned on me that Melody wouldn't like this if she found out.
She hates to see us quarrel because it makes her want to choose between us and I know that I do not stand a chance at the moment and that's why I won't ruin my chance.
"You can't hurt me." He snarled. "Cowards like yourself can't hurt a strand of my hair!"
Dorian's words were pushing me to fury but the thought of Melody and how she'd react to all this got me so calm.
I do not want to disappoint her more than she already is.
"I'll just go and look for Melody."
I moved to leave but was attacked by Dorian.
"Now, who's the coward?" I turned immediately.
Wincing as blood trickled down the cut on my back.
"No brave man attacks from the back," I shrugged. "At least none that I know of."
I think those words struck a cord because Dorian's fury intensified. He went ballistic and came at me in full swing but I kept dodging. Launching no attack of my own.
"What's going on?"
The sudden arrival of Malcolm and Giovanni made Dorian stop.
"Where's Melody? I was told that she was with you."
Malcolm looked around in search of Melody.
"She went that way." I pointed towards the forest where Melody ran to.
"Why would Melody go there? That's a thick forest." Malcolm grimaced.
"I was also trying to find out, but instead of telling me. Our Alpha here chose to attack me."
Malcolm looked at Dorian as if to confirm if I was telling the truth. Giovanni's eyes also looked at Dorian, hoping for an explanation after all, he was his mother's pal.
"Well, Melody is mad at me. Something happened and she....."
"What happened to momma?" Giovanni asked before any of the adults spoke further.
I squatted and brought him close to explain to him. "Nothing happened. Your Momma is okay, she just ...."
"I didn't ask you!" He jerked himself away from me.
He went to Dorian and held him instead. "Why is Momma mad at you? Did you two fight?"
Dorian didn't know what to say and just hugged him.
"I'm sorry, Gio."
I wonder what he's apologizing for.
"Tell me what happened to Melody."
Malcolm didn't seem interested in Dorian's apology or his coaxing. He only wanted to know what happened to his sister and why she would go into such a thick forest.
"Malcolm, I....."
Dorian is stuttering. Now that's a scene you don't want to forget.
He acts all high and mighty and now he's stuttering?
I can't believe that.
"Speak up Dorian, What happened?"
Dorian brushed his hand through his hair. He seemed reluctant to speak.
"She found out about her identity."
