Leander’s P O V
All she was doing was sit there and eat but all I could think about was how perfectly her lips moves as she ate. I was going insane. I had to put a stop to thisI I am not a hormonal teenager who just met his mate to be acting this weird. I am alpha of my pack. A natural born leader and she was just a tiny she wolf that I could snap like a twig any second I wanted.
By the time she was done eating, I was also done with my work. I got up and go sit on a chair in front of her.
“Is there something going on?” She asks as she gathers the empty plates and places them on the tray that was on the small table next to the couch.
“What do you mean?” I inquire not quite getting what she meant.
“You don’t seem right. I mean you still carry your usual frown and glare but these days you seem to have a small furrow in your eyebrows and it was not there before.” She replies.
“Are you serious right now?” I ask finding what she said completely ridiculous.
“Of course not. I am just kidding. THe furrow has always been there as well. You just get up and leave all of a sudden. You seem to get busier. Not that I know anything about your usual schedule but you left all of a sudden yesterday and I presume you called a meeting. And you said you had an emergency they other day when you...” she mutters before continuing. “When you suddenly left. It does not take a genius to know something is going on.”
“And you have it all figured out huh, detective?” I ask sarcastically and her lips lift up in a small smile.
“I did not mean to come off as nosy or rude. I just pointed out what I noticed. Whether you tell me about it or not is completely up to you.” she debates. Smart girl. It looks like she has some brain in her head after all. I will keep that in mind. But I assume there was no harm in letting her know about the attack. I planned to let her meet alpha Luke when he comes and from what I have known of her so far, she will be asking a tons of questions about the reasons behind his visit. Unless I wanted to disturb the little truce we had going on between us, I would not keep her locked up when he arrives. She sees him as a father figure and I am not that much of an asshole to take that away from her.
“There was an attack on the borders, yesterday.” I start. “ Not a full blown attack but there were two bodies of rogues thrown just pass the pack borders. They carried no smell and were not tortured. They were killed with a clean cut. It was to send us a warning or something. Whoever did this does not have good intentions.” I continue.
“But don’t all packs have attacks on them? Your pack is one of the strongest in the world. I assume an attack is not something unusual. Even the weaker ones get similar threats from time to time.” She asks.
“This one was not like any other. We are used to attempts of infiltration but this time it was different. There was no actual attack. There rogues were slaughtered and left there. But what’s weird and distinctive about it is that the presence of whoever threw them across the borders was not detected. Someone had placed them there. But whoever it is none of us felt them as they crossed into pack territory left undetected. The incident had gone unnoticed until a patrol discovered the bodies.” I explain.
“Which is the same as the attack on my pack. The rogues were not taken notice of until they met up with the first patrol. That’s why you left last night.” She mutters more to herself.
“Exactly, I called alpha Luke about it in the morning.” I say.
“And what did he tell you?” She immediately asks her interest spiking at the mention of her previous alpha.
“It was not something to discuss over the phone. Those things could be rigged. I had requested him to come over. We are currently arranging his visit.” I say.
“He is coming over? Really? Did he say when? Did he say whose coming with him?” She bombards me with questions and I fight off a smile that htreated to crawl my mouth at her excitement.
“Hold on there, mutt. One equestion at a time.” I order.
“Okay, sorry. I got too excited. I just miss him.” She explains and I feel a pang of jealousy at her clear display of affection.
“He is going to visit in two days. We are just finishing up with the security arrangements. We don’t often get visitors and even when we do we make sure to be extra careful. He isn’t going to stay for long, just twor or three days tops. Until we have discussed all the aspects of the situation and compared evidence. And He is bringing his beta and two of his warriors. I did am getting their names tomorrow. Does that cover it all?” I ask.
“Yes, thank you. One last question.” She says giving me those doe eyes.
“Spit it out.” I bite out.
“Do I get to see him?” She asks with a little pout. All these cutish things she has been doing are relly starting to get to me.
“I don’t know. “ I reply with a small plan forming in my mind.
“What do you mean?” She demands confused.
“I told you earlier today, Morena. All good deeds must be rewarded. If you want to meet alpha Luke and his company then I must get something in return.” I whisper.
“A..and what is it that you want from me?” She stutters. “You just have to wait and see, mutt.” I smirk.
